April 28, 20242 yr Will just have to accept a huge loss on him. Could try a season or 2 on loan in Germany. May help, may tank his value even more.

My guess is the latter. Can't see him bring a regular starter for any top side. Mid table French league might be his best bet
April 28, 20242 yr Can’t see him leaving. If we have a new manager come in I think there’s going to be an expectation of that manager getting something out of him.
April 28, 20242 yr Definitely think he deserves another season under a better manager. If it still doesn't work out then yeah I think we'll just cut our losses or maybe loan him out.

Absolutely not worth adjusting the team to "get the best out of Mudryk". One for the DoFs to sort out in the summer ... most probably a series of loans until the amortisation has kicked in sufficiently for us to break even on selling him. For 24/25 let's have a look at Omari Hutchinson for LW instead ... It is crazy for player with this talent, with this price, with this amount of hype to have problem to even look bang average on the field.

Certainly very hard to see where his first "Ballon d'Or" is coming from ... the next "Seau de Merde" however is not quite so difficult to predict LOL
April 29, 20242 yr Maybe Dortmund might think he's worth a loan? He just doesn't have the consistency or ability to be a nailed on starter for us. And he's not even that young either, I think maybe a loan elsewhere can potentially make his stock increase rather than him sitting on the Chelsea bench for half the season.
April 29, 20242 yr Whoever the manager next year will have his hands full, and I don't think it's a good idea to add 'improve Mudryk' as another objective. There's only that much a manager could do, he's not a personal trainer for individual player. I think it's better for all ( especially for him) to play elsewhere, where he won't be scrutinized every week by fans and pundits, and play with a bit of freedom.
April 29, 20242 yr What I don’t get though look back at his debut against Liverpool what the hell happened to that player. The player that debuted against Liverpool vs this player is night and day.

Strange how his technique can just desert him when it's not his day. Pretty damning that Poch didn't acknowledge there was something badly off with him (the other players knew it and ignored him after half-time), and just left him out there when he could have put someone else on to end his torment. Bettinelli would have contributed more.

He could equally be absolutely toilet, just as he has been for us for the majority of his time here. I would love him to come good but I'm seriously having my doubts it will happen, whoever manages him. It's not even as if he is one of those confidence players as he can be okay one game and appalling the next. To be fair to Pochettino, he has a good record with young players but even he is running out of patience with Mudryk. Right now Madueke is the much better option and in fact Mudryk looks so bad that even Sterling would be a better option and that IS saying something!

April 30, 20242 yr For me , it feels quite clear Mudryk shines when he has space ahead of him to run into. His debut against liverpool gave him that space - in a fast tempo game. Most teams against us don't do that. For him to be consistent, we need to change our playing style - from the slow tippy tappy sh*t, to something quicker and more progressive. The exact same thing i have been saying for ages, and the same issue we have seen with other players (timo anyone?) We won't change in the short term, as has been shown for years, with us consistently playing slow unimaginative football. So i don't hold much hope of Mudryk.

Good point, recently we were losing and he comes on very late, gets on the ball in our area goes sideways worryingly yet looks up plays the ball for a one-two and sprints forward side stepping one challenge then to put Jackson away. We don't score yet clearly he has some ability. The question is how do we get it work effectively.
May 1, 20242 yr You can't look to set up how you play, just to accomodate a player as flaky as Mudryk is. I think best he can hope for IF he stays, is as an impact sub. Bring him on with 25-30 minutes to go to run at tired defenders (but with the instruction to beat said defender, not just run into them and lose the ball). It's been a while since we have had a "super-sub".

I agree.... ...however, that changes when you see the style of players we have purchased over the last few years that would all have suited a more progressive, faster style. Timo, Auba, Mudryk, Sterling, Madueke, Nkunku, Jackson - these are all players who would better suit a faster style of football, that isnt so slow and possession heavy.

A number of those have just been bad signings but I kind of agree. I would just like to see us mix it up a bit more, which sometimes we do to be fair. There have been plenty of instances where we have broken quickly and directly and created good chances and scored some good goals this season. It hasn't all been slow and ponderous, but there is still too much of that passing it about without getting anywhere.

We all keep returning to the scene in hope that we see this 'wonder of nature' once again. Alas maybe next time we mutter as the final whistle blows.

I would argue they were all bad signings - and that is only amplified if you then dont have any intention of playing to those players strengths. Our recruitment has been a mess! 😄
May 3, 20242 yr Another game flies past where Mudryk has shown flashes of his mercurial talent, but the ultimately fails to deliver. On so many occasions he seems to suddenly break clear of the ranks with a bit of brilliance only to immediately follow it up with a brain dead next action, running it off the pitch, a rocket launch of a shot to the upper deck, a cross to nobody. So frustrating. I desperately want this lad to light the touch paper but I really don't know if he's even a footballer. It would truly not surprise me in the least to pick up the paper and read that he's thrown it all in and taken a job as the final leg in the Ukrainian 4 x 100m relay in the forthcoming Olympics
