Boehly said thanks for the scouting reports, I'll double the price. He's a good athlete, but haven't played much football. I recall when we signed him he played fewer than 50 games, that's pretty low even for a 21 year old. I don’t think this coach helps him.. half of the game he was playing as a 10.. also if nothing else you can tell the guy to not come deep to get the ball rather to stretch defences. it most be a nightmare playing with CC he can’t defend attack or pass with any accuracy. How did we pay 70 mil for him too is a scam.
April 25, 20242 yr This is why I like Twitter. People is clipping video for you 😁. You can ignore his analysis, I just want to use his clip Let's focus on the 2nd clip. Mudyrk on the wing, double team by Saka. Cucu won't overlap, it is 2 v 1 afterall. All normal stuff. Mudryk decided cut inside, Conor and Caicedo sit back and the other midfielder (enzo) run to the box. Normal standard pattern but people say no pattern. You probably want Jackson to attack the box but let's be fair he is not exactly great in the air. Mudryk decided to cross the ball to enzo and it was easily cleared by arsenal defender Is this a big no no decision? If the cross is inch perfect maybe Enzo can score, is it likely? Nope. A safer idea rather than to cut inside is maybe to play 3 man game with cucu and Conor. You saw this with TT where the ball go round and round and round. Or if you have watched city play, you would have seen Grealish do drag drag and pass back every single time. But If this were Grealish Villa, he will try to beat double team maybe 5/10 times. If this were Doku, he will try to beat the double team maybe 2/10 times and 8/10 times drag2. This is where coaching n individual play big factor. We all know poch is on freedom side, if you see Enzo beat his man, cut in and cross otherwise do something else, you can interpret the game as individual. With Pep, he has a plan and he want you to run his plan unless you are messi 😁😁😁, that is why city play like robot. A lot of people will say just coach the player or in this case mudryk. Every manager will try to improve player individually but it is not a magic. If you want to coach Mudyrk to play more conservative, it is not just say do this or do that. The easiest is to not play mudryk unless he do what you want (if he is unhappy and he want to leave you are screwed though, he is on 8 years contract and he cost you 70m) Edited April 25, 20242 yr by Bob stark
April 26, 20242 yr Are we pretending Mudryk didn't have a bad game? Because I would expect almost any player at any level to do the majority of what he did in that video.
April 27, 20242 yr Positionally I didn’t understand the role for Mudryk.. most times he was either playing closer to the 10 with Gallagher out wide .. to cover for Saka ? On other times we had Cucu playing really poor balls into him .. nor was he at anytime running beyond him for overlaps.. we were just scared of arsenal looking at our tactical set up.
April 27, 20242 yr If I understand correctly something (I think) @SydneyChelsea said, then his market value at the time of signing was the extortionate amount we paid for him, as a result of that being the amount we paid for him. Given his utterly dismal performances in the year-and-a-half since, there is surely no way that his market value has increased since then. One would think that this is a big problem for the brain trust as well as whichever poor f**ker has to coach the team or rebuild the squad.
April 27, 20242 yr We need to do something about him. He’s been absolutely useless against Arsenal and tonight, he was non existent. It’s like playing with 10 men.
April 27, 20242 yr He will never be a successful winger in this country. It's attacking midfield or nothing. Even then, you have to play a specific way to get the best out of him and I don't think that will ever happen here.
April 27, 20242 yr Just now, Scott Harris said: He will never be a successful winger in this country. It's attacking midfield or nothing. April 27, 20242 yr Just now, loz said: Does the specific way hspoen to be 'against a pub team'? Facing towards goal and running centrally. That is where he his strengths lie, but it's not enough. There are too many limitations to his game.
April 27, 20242 yr When his passing doesn’t come off you really notice that he offers absolutely nothing else.
April 27, 20242 yr Was surprised he stayed on as long as he did. It was cruel really. His head just isn’t in the right place and he looks totally lost. Needs a loan next season as he just isn’t ready to play at this level.
April 27, 20242 yr Loan him out or sell him IMO. He looks like a sprinter we are trying to convert into a professional footballer. I honestly think there would hardly be any difference if we had signed and played Usain Bolt instead.
April 27, 20242 yr 20 minutes ago, Sheva said: I think his teammates have no confidence in him which is pretty damning. All 10 of his teammates actively avoided passing the ball to him, I kept a close eye on it second half. I don’t blame him for his price tag or the rush to buy him, I blame who ever thought it was a great idea.
April 27, 20242 yr He needs to go to the Bundesliga for at least a season where I think he could flourish. If we could get Sesko from Leipzig nd then maybe send him there for a year, it could help to restore his confidence and value.
April 28, 20242 yr Had no expectation of him doing much this game, and he didn't disappoint or surprise. Although he's still classified as a 'young' player, we have seen plenty of younger players ( with lower fees attached) that are better in terms of football intelligence.
April 28, 20242 yr When we signed him I was shocked. I’d watched maybe 8 games for Shaktar in the CL and for Ukraine. He definitely looked a prospect but we signed a player for ready now money. His biggest asset is his pace. He plays in a way where he never seems to use his pace and I don’t think it’s the manager stifling him either. It’s himself. He wants to be a baller when his game should basically be getting on the end of through balls to either cross or shoot. We play a formation that should suit his game so it’s not even that. Hopefully he gets a loan next season and builds his confidence because there’s no way we’re getting anywhere near what we paid for him in a sale. I honestly believe we signed him because Arsenal wanted him and the owners wanted to make a statement. Either that or Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder scouted him.
April 28, 20242 yr With what little he shows us in games, I'd be disappointed if we'd paid £20m for him to be honest ... Absolutely not worth adjusting the team to "get the best out of Mudryk". One for the DoFs to sort out in the summer ... most probably a series of loans until the amortisation has kicked in sufficiently for us to break even on selling him. For 24/25 let's have a look at Omari Hutchinson for LW instead ...
