He’s 10 and not a winger especially in this league where wingers don’t get much space. Hes a different player when he’s in the 10 and in the space between midfield and defence.

Thinking about it this makes sense anyway. With wing backs and overlapping full backs playing him on the wing just puts him into foot races with nippy full backs, whereas playing between the lines and breaking through defensive presses can be far more productive.

Putting him in a foot race with Kyle Walker might be entertaining but a bit pointless. I would rather see him braking through Stones, Akanji, Dias where he could be devastating., providing he continues to improve his finishing

When he's direct with space he's frightening but without the ball he's a bit of a lost puppy. It's the classic case of a player who's talented that needs to find his place in a modern system. Its obvious the manager likes him but he doesn't trust him because if your job is on the line you're likely going to trust the experienced player.

I still think he could be good out wide it's just he needs a proper left back to link up with him and they need to develop a chemistry.

Good point about the left back behind him.

Mudryk played LW at Shakhtar, and in every game for Ukraine, so that's clearly his position, and what we bought him for.  Nice to have another option at #10 but I don't think he's going to play much there when we have Gallagher, Chukwuemeka, Palmer who can all play there in the absence of Nkunku.

If you look at Mudryk and see a classic problem then I give up.

I have never seen player like mudryk ever.

The one that really help Mudryk is his fee and we have poch as manager. If our manager is still TT no chance he will ever touch the grass.

Pep doesn't think Phil foden can play as a 10 for City because his understanding of tempo and the team is lacking and people want Mudryk to play as a 10.

I wouldn't go that far. Although he is a very good passer of the ball, he's not a 10 in the traditional sense cause he's not quick enough to react and read the game.

If we play him in the middle it would have to be almost like a big man little man thing where Jackson is the target man and he's the runner feeding off flicks, etc.

Big praise.

And no better example for how hard work and smart application can turn abounding natural talent into a genuinely effective player who wins things.

That said, I am all for the 'Mudryk is better than Pulisic' narrative as I feel like it will annoy the right people.

Mudryk has a goal contribution every 140 minutes in all competitions. Only Palmer is ahead of him in key passes per 90 in the league.

He's very much a moments player right now, but the quality is there. Just need to turn those moments into consistency.

He's also in the top players in the league for doing nothing all game and losing the ball everytime he touches it  just behind Anthony

Cut the guy some slack with the war going on back home and all that ... give him some time, besides it's hardly like he's been given a decent run in the team...

I'd like to see him have a decent run in the team or we'll be selling him to the Arse who will take him, and his limited pl experience, and develop that...

I'm assuming he will be on the bench this weekend as he scored.

One of his best performances today. Really unlucky to be subbed - especially when Sterling was having a complete and utter mare. No wonder there were boos.

I'd say the first half in particular was easily his best. Not just because he showed signs of being a player defenders had to care about but he also worked hard when Leicester were in possession.
