A good manager is all they needed. We're sitting on an untapped goldmine.
February 3, 20233 yr There is nothing left to play for in this season. We are not getting top 4. no chance with this coach. Once we are out of the Champions League on the first obstacle then it's curtains for Potter. After that we will be getting new expensive unproven coach. I'm all into idea of buying full team of best promising young players but one thing that you need is an experienced coach to manage them. proven winner that can take them to the next level. All Potter will do to them is ruin rather than take them to the next level. It looks like Brighton playing well is not due to Potters coaching but to great recruitment which scouted well.
February 3, 20233 yr I said at the start of the season Mount is done…he is the next Delle Ali…and he is proving it.

February 3, 20233 yr Next game we should start with Fofana instead of Havertz and Felix instead of Mount/Gallagher, we looked far more likely to score (albeit still unlikely) with a proper striker there. Kai as a 9 experiment should be over by now, he just doesn't have that killer instinct and I feel that had Fofana rolled the ball to him he'd have wasted it somehow. Also need to let Enzo have more of the ball, we could all see his quality and he will get up to speed in no time apparently.

What's more disconcerting is how the media talked up a guy who's team scored 42 goals last year as being some incredible coach even when his own supporters were booing him. https://www.google.com/amp/s/talksport.com/football/991359/perplexed-graham-potter-booing-brighton-leeds/amp/ Never got the Potter love in, I watched a lot of Brighton and just didn't get why he'd even be on a shortlist for a big club. English manager effect in full force. you're right the English manager thing is a big factor - that's protecting him from a really rough time from the media

Kept everything tidy, could have done better with a better midfield partner As I said before, he needs another guy to get the dirty defensive job on his side. Can't give him too many defensive duties, he needs more freedom. If that is the plan, it might take a while to get there completely. Maybe you should have gone for Marco instead of Potter. 🤐 Edited February 3, 20233 yr by Aguia_SLB
February 3, 20233 yr Neville called us predictable, basic and the players being too far apart from each other. Hard to disagree

Certainly he will given time to evolve with the players. The contract is 5 years and not 5 months. Winning a Swedish cup is really impressive. Wow, what a guy! Now I am filled with confidence.

He was the only creative force trying to make things happen. He delivered some quality crosses…no one to finish. As opposed to Mount and Havertz who did absolutely nothing…again.
February 3, 20233 yr The new Signings giving me hope and looked not bad tough. Would be great to Start with a Win but hey it's Chelsea, always has been not the best start when Media is Focus on us. But what I don't get: How in God's Name can you Start with Ziyech when he was on verge to join PSG - he is unhappy and don't want to be here. But he was the only one creating dangerous Moments. When does Potter realize that Havertz is the damn Reason that our Attack is Trash. This guy can't even perform in Austrian League. Edited February 3, 20233 yr by Michael_AT

February 3, 20233 yr I don't want to see Havertz in a blue shirt ever again! I'm sick of him 'gently' jogging around doing f*ck all! Same goes for Ziyech really, provides one good cross every 30 games and f*ck all else! Mount has turned into a headless chicken. There was one team of players going down with cramp, another that had a few players that didn't even break into a sweat! Fulham were dirty f*ckers and the ref let them get away with it.......at least it showed they were putting some effort in though! I thought Fofana looked a little lively, certainly more lively than Havertz.........having said that granny was more lively than Havertz and she's been dead for 10 years! Why the hell couldn't we get rid of Ziyech a couple of days ago? And why the hell are we playing him two days later? We didn't deserve to win that game, we didn't deserve to lose either, 0-0 was about 'right', god-awful game entertainment wise, Fulham came to frustrate knowing that Havertz is as much use as a chocolate tea spoon and they got what they came for! Please, please, please lets drop the dross once and for all and give all the 'new' boys their chance, Felix in for Havertz next game is surely a given. Positives - we've 'tightened' up at the back, Badiashie, Fofana, the return of James, the return of Chilwell Negatives - Havertz, Ziyech is still with us, Havertz, our lack of potency up front, Mount turning into a headless chicken, Havertz, Mudryk (did he play today), Havertz, the result & Havertz. Oh and why do we lose all the 50-50's? Havertz does for obvious reasons but why has the rest of the team caught his disease? Edited February 3, 20233 yr by Droyman

James - 5 - First game in a while, needs a bit of time to get back to his best. Silva - 8 - Excellent again, dominated the penalty area. Mitrovic was never a threat. Badiashile - 7 - His excellent start with us continues Cucurella - 3 - Rubbish, headless chicken trying to defend. He only knows one way and that is to charge out like an idiot. No chance of building any shape at the back with him ruining it. Enzo - 7 - A very solid start, picked out a few excellent passes in the first half and is happy to play through the lines. Need a DM though so he can be more involved going forward. Gallagher - 4 - Lots of running, no quality what so ever though. Mount - 4 - Messed up some really good opportunities to create something. Ziyech - 4 - Wasted everything. Lacks power and pace to be a difference maker. There is a reason why Fulham were happy to give us space on the right with him on the pitch. Mudryk - 4 - Never in the game, Fulham suffocated the left hand side in the first half. Havertz - 3 - Wasteful again. He should have had 2 goals. Subs: Madueke - 5 - A promising start, but faded badly once Potter moved him around. Lacked quality in the final 3rd. Azpilicueta - 5 - Can't get forward and defend at the same time, so had to stay deep which hurt us going forward. Sterling - 4 - Didn't offer enough when he came on Fofana - 6 - I thought he should have scored with the chance he had, looked decent though. Chilwell - 5 - Wasn't on long enough to make much difference. Mostly agree, a bit harsh on Sterling, he at least looked like he wanted to create something Mount situation is making me very sad, it’s been too long for it be form in my opinion, it pains me to say it I think he is bang average but shows the occasional moment, 1 decent cross today - hope I am wrong and he just needs a break

February 3, 20233 yr I play Sunday League football but I never made it to the pros. Most of my mates that I play with did, but they are well in their 40s. I am young and my main attributes are speed and stamina. They are better in every other football aspect. Most of the times I am the only weak link in that team because I disrupt their play as I can't get to their level, technically and tactically. And I feel it. It's what I felt tonight with Mount, Ziyech, Gallagher and Cucurella. Unbelievable how many single passes they missed and how many easy situations they ruined. At this level it is enough to have one player to disrupt your entire game, nevermind four or five. I feel sorry for Mount and Gallagher, but some energy and some tackles is not enough at this level. They are part of a three man midfield only, I'm afraid they can't be simple passengers in the most important area of the pitch. Hopefully it'll get better as soon as Chilwell, Kovacic, Kante, Joao Felix are back. Team should pick itself from now on, it's Chilwell, Badiashile, Silva, James, Enzo, Mudryk, Felix, Sterling/Madueke, Havertz and one of Kovacic/Kante to partner Enzo in the pivot. Don't know what happened to Mudryk at HT, but if it was a tactical decision it surely was a stupid one.
