I think a lot of the setpiece things comes down to the fact we don't really have a lot of elite headers of the ball, at our best, JT, Ballack, Drogba, Cahill, Galas in his time.. Its not just about hight or power but timing and technique, out side of Tiago I don't really see another in the squad.

Casedi is easily the best header of the ball in the squad.

Splitting the season into two.

1st half of the season (first 19 games):

  1. Liverpool = 42 (+23)
  2. Manchester City = 40 (+24)
  3. Arsenal = 40 (+18)
  4. Aston Villa = 39 (+15)
  5. Tottenham Hotspur = 36 (+11)
  6. West Ham United = 33 (+3)
  7. Manchester United = 31 (-4)
  8. Brighton & Hove Albion = 30 (+5)
  9. Newcastle United = 29 (+12)
  10. Chelsea = 25 (+2)
  11. Wolves = 25 (-4)
  12. Bournemouth = 25 (-7)
  13. Fulham = 21 (-8)
  14. Everton = 20 (-1)
  15. Brentford = 19 (-5)
  16. Crystal Palace = 18 (-9)
  17. Nottingham Forest = 17 (-12)
  18. Luton Town = 15 (-14)
  19. Burnley = 11 (-20)
  20. Sheffield United = 9 (-32)

2nd half of the season (last 19 games):

  1. Manchester City = 51 (+38)
  2. Arsenal = 49 (+44)
  3. Liverpool = 40 (+22)
  4. Chelsea = 38 (+12)
  5. Newcastle United = 31 (+11)
  6. Crystal Palace = 31 (+8)
  7. Tottenham Hotspur = 30 (+2)
  8. Manchester United = 29 (+3)
  9. Aston Villa = 29 (0)
  10. Fulham = 26 (+2)
  11. Bournemouth = 23 (-6)
  12. Wolves = 21 (-11)
  13. Brentford = 20 (-4)
  14. Everton = 20 (-10)
  15. West Ham United = 19 (-17)
  16. Brighton & Hove Albion = 18 (-12)
  17. Nottingham Forest = 15 (-6)
  18. Burnley = 13 (-17)
  19. Luton Town = 11 (-19)
  20. Sheffield United = 7 (-37)

The improvement in the second half of the season is self-evident based on these ladder(s) alone.

The story was that he was called by the press officer, but he still would’ve had ample time!

I feel that would’ve won a lot of Poch out or fence-sitters over more, but he blew it!

Well he is a spud end of the day, battle of bridge. Probably would have felt weird lol

Simple end of the season review :

Good

Team management.

I have been extremely impressed with poch in this area. With the amount of injury and the number of raw player that we have, this season could have been 🔥🔥🔥 from the get go.

The number of BS that I saw on the field this season is crazy. Poch can do what many his colleagues does, complain and criticize his player non stop instead he shielded and continue to support these players.

Freedom - > Goals (77)

You can see clearly the freedom that poch allow his player to play. You don't see player caged in certain zone or instructed to only make certain pass. This freedom allow our attackers to thrive and the number shows.

We have scored more goals than TT 2nd season (76) and the most goals since Conte title winning season (85).

This is a very impressive number and double the goals that we scored from last season (I usually want manager to get more than one season however under Potter we scored 38 goals and that is relegation candidate number)

Poch has done a great job given the circumstances. It took a few months to come together but it looks like it’s finally clicked.

The owners and SD’s need to not do something stupid over summer and sacking Poch and dismantling the team.

More importantly, they need to back Poch. Seems counter productive to question him.

This always lead to disaster unless your are talking about a very well known player, all manager is very bad at scouting.

He needs to have some input on the type and profile of player he sees as important to help the team.

I was one of those asking for the sack every week, but even I think it would be absolute madness to show him the door now.

He's turned things around and what I am encouraged the most is that he is not stubborn to persist with silly things on and on and on.

At least he's made a switch in tactics and tried something new and it worked really well.

City will win the FA Cup and we will go to Europa League. We ended the season on a high note and I say let Pochettino pick up where he left off.

Bring him a top centre forward and probably a very, very good center back and it is impossible we won't be in the top four next season if we continue the same way we finished this season in terms of tactics and tempo.

What I am very pleased of is his switch to Guardiola's 3-2-4-1 which is perfect for the PL and works for us, too.

Ferdinand saying he's 'hearing things' that suggest Poch is off, which almost guarentees that Poch will be here next year.

Would love to see him given a chance to impact who we bring in and who we move on and see if we can make more progress next year. Think 3rd and 4th are up for grabs (and hopefully 5th if the coefficent thing is happening again) to get us back in the big time.

That I agree.

But I am not sure the board really care about that. 😂😂😂

It looks like they have their own plan on how they want this squad to be.

If the rumor is true, we are going to spend 50-60M for that Brazilian kid, and he won't make it to the bridge until 2025 at best. What Poch wants is almost irrelevant, the boss behind the scene already figured out transfer plan for next season, just waiting for the sale of academy grown players to balance the book.

Will be shocked if they sack him if the players like him and the fanbase are starting to warm to the team and results.

Only way I see him going is if there's a disagreement with how the project is and the players we are selling and the type of players we are targeting.

If he does go then it wouldn't surprise me if Utd replace Ten Haag with him.

That's maybe just a part of the summer transfer window, we can definitely sell a few and sign a few as well.

Poch finishing top 6 showed that he can deal with it, he now looks like the best option for us since he improved the results from last season while having to deal with a lot of chaos.

The pressure is more on the players right now, specially since so many have been having injury problems.

I still think a scapegoat is going to be be required for missing out on the £100m odd revenue for the Champions League for the 2nd year in a row, and it probably won't be the Owners, the Directors of Football or the players ...

Next season minimum top 4 or major improvements need to be seen for poch to stay

Not yet.

Depends how much partying City do until the FA Cup final. To be fair a hungover City could probably roll Utd over.

it doesnt impact FFP since he is below the age of 18. that wont be counted towards PSR. On the player itself if in hindsight you get the next Mbappe and Neymar for 40mil you sign them no matter what.

They do have the Club World Cup to fall back on.

Club will be earning £43m minimum for qualifying, and this isn't even considering the other revenue for club coefficient and match performances.

Or you sign them and the kid in the academy that you release to make way, turns out to be the next Mbappe and Neymar, then you look chumps. If this lot cash in on Reece James this summer for major free hit profit, you watch them go steaming in for the next big thing to bring in behind Gusto (probably from the same south American gene pool that seems to only produce players for us now). How do we know that Josh Acheampong isn't already the next big thing, he looks pretty good whenever i've seen him.

Ferdinand: “From what I’m hearing, I’m not sure Pochettino is going to be there, the mutterings I’m hearing coming out there, I’m not sure that’s going to end well” (Rio Ferdinand presents FIVE).

I hope they are having the end of season review today so that it can all be sorted. We need small tweaks not major changes this summer. The owners shouldn’t panic or try to do too much too soon.
