Jamie Gittens joins Chelsea

Featured Replies

Only two pre-season games, but I feel like we have already seen the positives and the negatives from him. I think he's an easy upgrade on Sancho. He's quick, he's direct, he has good dribbling, he wants to make things happen. The negatives are what we already knew before we bought him, decision making. Against Leverkusen, it was spot on, but today, not so much. A few times he tried the wrong pass or took a shot when it wasn't on.

Looks just as raw , and wild with his shooting as the ones he replaced

Yes, that's was a bit disappointing, if he is another one without a footballing brain it's going to be really frustrating

He is a top talent, but too raw and this is the reason I feel Garnacho is nailed on to come here. As much as I think Garnacho is a brainless player and I made my feelings known in his thread numerous times, he is probably the most direct left winger of all the players that the board of directors have in their sight. For all his flaws, Garnacho is the opposite of Sancho. He gets the ball and he is on his bike.

Leaving Gittens as the only natural left winger, with no competition, could prove dangerous. Young players can feel too important and entitled way too early and we've seen it with Jackson that he did not really enjoy having his starting spot taken away from him.

Raw is the right word. Outstanding pace and dribbling - seems able to beat his man every time.

I don’t recall one time after beating his man, either immediately or once at the byline, that he did anything with the ball.

Only one game but that decision making and execution shows room for improvement.

His ability to beat a man is incredible. It was great watching him do it over and over - he made it look easy. I really hope he can get some end product early on to settle himself...

I'm sure whatever happens he'll end up winning us a lot of freekicks and penalties because defenders won't be able to resist kicking him.

It's going to be very interesting watching what Gittens can deliver for us and what Madueke can deliver for Arsenal this season.

Probably best to compare when they are at the same age and experience.

Gittens has much more potential but it's going to be a frustrating road to get there.

Looks like he is going to take a while to adapt to the physicality of the league. I didn't know much about him tbh, doesn't look much better than Tyrique George though, not sure he is an upgrade on Sancho, different player, but I guess time will tell, not too impressed so far though.

He looked potentially electric in the game against leverkusen but that’s a very small sample size, he’s better than George and could be a Sancho with pace but I’m not convinced he’s a player who knows what to do against teams who pack themselves in. I think Simons would be a lot more creative and able to do more. The physicality did look like it was too much for him though

From what we've seen so far, I'm honestly not sure he is ahead of George ...

Maybe not, he’s definitely more explosive and flashier than George which might deceive the eye test somewhat but I’ll give him time to prove himself

Madueke like performance but at least he wasn't wearing a headband.

Madueke would have been hammered for that performance.

My biggest concern when we were linked with him is his stats were not exceptional in the Bundesliga, the PL is a different beast. Most of his highlights also showed him taking advantage of the high line in the league and running into acres of spaces. He is never getting that in the PL, and 75% of the teams will sit deep and try to hit us on the break. Early days but I just don’t see it.
