Jamie Gittens joins Chelsea

Featured Replies

Really disappointing today.

His main attribute is meant to be his speed, and his 2nd attribute is meant to be going one v one against the opposition.

We saw none of that today, no trying to take his player on and not even streching his legs to run past opponents.

Everything had to go through Neto's side to worry Brentford.

Let's not forget he wasn't even a starter from Dortmund when we bought him.

Fair play to them for keeping a straight face while demanding £60m

I don’t see it at all with him. It’s really harsh so early, but he looks championship level to me. I’m yet to see a single end product in any game. He offers absolutely nothing

Downgrade from Noni. George is more effective. And Garnacho is a better player.

He needs to figure out where he is quite quickly otherwise the chance will be gone before it’s even started.

Said before he needs to go on loan. his fee does not allow it right now but in the next few seasons he will be on the loan list.

To where though? And on those wages? No decent side would be interested, and we will have to pick a large chunk of his wages wherever he goes.

I really don’t know what to make of Gittens so far. He’s had a poor start at Chelsea and, for me, looks completely shot of confidence. He doesn’t look “in” the team at all — more like an outsider on the pitch.

There was one moment that summed it up: he had a perfect chance to come onto the ball and shoot, but instead he left it for Enzo, when Gittens should have been screaming for the shot as he was in the much better position but just didn’t take responsibility. Then there was another situation where he wasn’t squared/put through (I think by Neto, though I might be misremembering) — again, really frustrating because he should be more involved.

Right now, he looks nowhere near a £30m player, let alone the £60m we are on the hook for. He’s not integrated, doesn’t look dangerous, and doesn’t show much chemistry with the rest of the attack.

Maybe the only realistic option is to go down the Hato/Santos route - ease him in slowly, with little cameos here and there, until he finds his feet. Throwing him in too much right now feels like it’s doing more harm than good.

So far he is a clear downgrade on Madueke. Even @Remodez would have to agree that I think?

My opinion hasn't change as this is already what I predicted would happen

Probably best to compare when they are at the same age and experience.

Gittens has much more potential but it's going to be a frustrating road to get there.

Like I said, it will be a very frustrating experience at the start with Gittens.

We paid for potential with Gittens which he has lots of but he is not ready to start week in week out. It makes sense why the club is going for a more "experienced" player in Garnacho even if I don't particularly rate him that highly he is still better than current Gittens.

This fella is never going to make the grade at our club. It was an error bringing him in. Time and training will not change things significantly.

He should get some game time against Lincoln where he should tie them in knots with his devastating wing play, leaving defenders for dead and whipping in cross after cross. Cutting inside occasionally and scoring a goal or two leaving their defence bewildered. But alas, only in my parallel universe.

Arsenal came into this season on the back of a busy summer transfer window where they spent around £250m and brought in eight players, and against Nottingham Forest the Gunners showed the reason behin

Doesn’t change my opinion. He’s still the same player as last season, the only difference is he’s playing for a better team.

Come on, way too early for such a 'certainty'. Perhaps first some significant playing time against Pafos would have been better than throwing him on in a starting line up for a PL match, though

fair comment im being harsh, still sulking after last night's disappointment, onwards to Lincoln Paphos and Qarabag.

It’s the obsession with these ex city youth players we’re just trying to get them all. Palmer Lavia Delap Tosin Gittens. I forget which person it is who worked there. Shields? But maybe focus on players who will improve us instead of reassembling your old youth team.

I don't want to be too harsh as it's still early days, but I don't understand why we felt we had to get this guy at any cost when we were chasing "market opportunities" for every other player.

Seems like a downgrade on Noni, who already wasn't all that.

This, it is bizzare.

Either the guy has stake on these players of he want to push his personal brand.

I’m calling it now - this guy is a flop. Loan fodder next season

Something/someone has to give; we have £45m Quenda joining from Sporting next season.

And Paez can return, who perhaps should have been given a chance this season over the loan of Bounanette and Gittens signing. Think we’ll regret not going for Simons.

I think I am just paraphrasing what most have said. He needs a bit more time, our best players over the years have all needed to get up to speed. of the current squad Cucurella is a great example and he came from a prem club

the managers job to use him sparingly and in the right moments to get him up to speed.

We needed someone to replace Nico so you could revive your competition with Val and Simply
