Hope no one offers him a contract this summer, if we want to move on as a club we must sell him.

Makes no sense, we hope someone offers him a contract, so that we can move him on.

As I say to the wife, "The last time I saw a face like yours Lester Piggott was sitting behind it."

What a massive coincidence, the last time i saw lester piggott your wife was sitting on him...

Not quite sure why this thread is still running.

  • Torres has been crap since his £50M move.
  • He's had no end of excuses (service, competition).
  • Nothing has worked.
  • Nothing will work.
  • He needs to be sold.

Don't let his erratic form convince you, he's finished as a footballer for his remainder of his time at Chelsea, he needs to be moved on..

Bet you he scores a brace on his debut for whatever club he moves to though. It'll be like sweep. sh*t for us for years, then as soon as he goes somewhere else gets back into form (albeit only to then lose all form again and end up playing for QPR)

Dearie me, Torres is crap but f**k me really? It was his fault he hit the post? Have a word, you want to talk about playing football at a high level, got Scottish cup winners medals, and numerous title as well. There was nothing wrong with how he hit it, he was unlucky not to score, you've got to be demented to have a go about that, his performance was mediocre at best however you can't slate him for that chance out of everything. Next it will be Terrys fault he slipped in Moscow. Some people have no idea about football.

It wouldn't surprise me to see him move to Spain and see him do reasonably well.Look at  Forlan..

From wiki Don't shoot me if they're wrong!

10 goals in 63 for Utd.

96 in 134 for A.Madrid

I don't think you could, but it's not like Torres missing easy chances are anything new. hats the difference between what we thought we got, and what we actually got. The same difference between him and any top striker, the ability to score anything put in front of them.

:face_palm:  I don't know how you can't understand what I've been saying, but I'll give it one more go.

He made good contact with the ball. There was nothing wrong with his technique. There was nothing wrong with the pass. He had enough time to choose where to hit it. He chose the near post. I've gone back and looked at it again and he was a maximum of 12 yards out about 1 or 2 yards to the left of the penalty spot. The player on his left was not in the way of the goal. The other one is standing in the middle with the keeper. All he has to do is hit it either side. He missed. It wasn't bad luck that he missed, it was bad timing. He is the one in control of his body (apparently) and he failed to time his swing correctly and he ended up missing the target. It is NOT bad luck that he missed. It is a bad shot. I'd be saying the same if it was Lampard.

Bad luck would have been if something happened that was out of his control, like a bobble. Nothing like this happened and he is wholly to blame for missing that shot.

You must be taking the piss? Only you would criticise Torres to this specific detail. Also you're having a laugh about JT's header how he could of placed it or glanced it etc. In that situation any player would just focus on hitting the target you fool. You haven't played the game if you think he would of had time to pick specifics especially as we were in the 90th minute and had been robbed of the win (as it seemed we had at the time)

Embarrassing mate!

good post but your not going to get people 'liking this'.oh no,shedpensioner said everthing there was  to say  about the the subject, and he was taken to task,by people i would guess, have never played the game.a player  who shoots on goal rarely looks at it when striking the ball,it's in his minds eye. when you have confidence, the goal seems massive, when you have not it seems like a five a side net. It's an instinctive reaction that takes very little thought,or shouldn't from confident player.

remember, even a prolific goal scorer like messi can miss from 12 yards.

I must be the only one that feels really sorry for Nando.....The Liverpool way made him one of the best hitmen in the world....Now . well hes as good as me.....I still feel that he will come good next season(yes i believe he will still be here).....I know there is no room for sentiment in the importance of him doing his job (or not), but just watch it happen when the right links are set in place

but 99% of the time, he wont. torres however is always just that bit 'unlucky' or 'so close'

SP, you know I love you, but this horse died years ago mate and you're still flogging it. Seriously, I'm about to call the RSPCC. If you want dead horses go to Tescos and buy a beef burger.

Now listen you silly sausage, let's get to the heart and liver of the matter ..

If Floppes had converted that chance, we would indeed have had loads of idiots (let's call them by their proper name) saying he's back but those idiots would have been wrong. Idiots tend to be wrong a lot. That's why we call them idiots.

Sure, he hit the post against Basle, he should have scored, but Basle are Basle. He has only scored 1 Premiership goal against a top half side, he hasn't scored in the Prem for about 60 years. Anyone who thinks he will ever be back has probably been eating too many Findus lasagnes.

Think about what I've just said. Look at his record in the Prem. It's disgraceful. It's pathetic. That dead horse you're flogging could probably do a better job.

He was abysmal last night. Abysmal. He is an abysmal player. Shocking. Totally crap. Poor beyond belief. Lacking in every single department except for pouting, falling over, bitching to the press and going to the hairdressers every 5 minutes. His presence at this club stinks. Anyone that wants the best for Chelsea wants him gone.

Oh, so he wasn't that bad last night say some it was a decent game by his standards some good things some bad things etc etc blah blah blah.

What the f**k have you been smoking?

Listen, and I'll only say this only once, if, before we bought him, we were shown a video of last night's game, and were told it was a video of a performance he would give in 2 and a half years, and were told it would pretty much sum up every other game we had seen from him prior to that game, and were told it was in fact one of his better performances, do you think Roman would have stumped up £2.50p?

Thata's my question for you. £2.50p? Would Roman have paid it? Would anyone have paid it?

Those that say he was decent have been spending too much time at Wetherspoons and eating too many of their meat pies.

Hehe! superb post Davey ... and looking forward to very similar posts for many months to come :O)

Looks like we're stuck with Floppes as he (continues to) winds down his Contract and just takes the money.

Unfortunately, the nightmare scenerio for the Club! ... esp. as FFP starts to bite ...

Ur not. I feel sorry for him too.

I just find it hilarious that some of the goals he's scored have been ones u wouldn't expect him to score but when the ball-and the goal-is put on a plate, he misses.

It was a very bold statement for him to make saying he will still be at Chelsea next season given the sheer amount of controversy he's caused during his two and a half years, but i think he's right and he will be. But i think he'll spend a lot of it on the bench. There is no way we can risk giving him top striker status for another season.

youre not. i actually think torres is a good person, and everytime i start bashing him i feel bad.

but he is detrimental to chelsea and i like chelsea more than i like him

and i know he wont come good ever, by now hes had more bad seasons than good ones

If Terry takes ten penalty kicks a season and slips on nine of them, is he still just unlucky? Or does he need to get his f**king act together and stay on his feet?

I think most people with a footballing brain feel sorry for nando. People who have never played the game or who are just pricks will say " I don't feel sorry for him he earns thousands of pounds to play football" but for me this is wrong on so many levels. Yes the money is great and he doesn't exactly have a sh*t life but imagine the frustration of once being one of worlds best strikers only for a few years later to pretty much be a laughing stock to most people just because of a price tag.

He hasn't been what we all hoped he would be but to to some he hasn't been as bad as others think. If he had cost 20 million then he wouldn't get half the abuse he gets at the moment.

It's really not a difficult concept to grasp. Lets say for a second that it was great effort by Torres. It still doesn't mean that it was unlucky not to go in. Luck is something beyond one's control. Is Torres in control of his body? If they answer is yes then it was not bad luck that he missed. And it was not good luck that it was that close either!

And I'd be saying the same thing if it was any other player. It wasn't bad luck that Hazard missed that golden opportunity in the first half. It was a bad shot.

Nothing to do with Torres: If you miss the target (from any range) and you were in total control of the situation it is not bad luck.

Whether its a good shot or not is up for debate.

If you can't understand this then I give up.

(and for the record, I didn't criticise Terry for the header. He had no time to think about it so simply hit the target with power, nothing wrong with that but also not unlucky)

He don't really show any signs of frustration does he ? He looks like he don't give a sh*t. I want torres to do well as much as anyone but the fact is he's gone through 3 managers 4 when fsw is gone and he still hasn't delivered. It's a nightmare. Who here has faith in him when he leads the line? Honestly I don't.
