September 6, 20169 yr Glad the Brozovic deal didn't go through. Gives him a better chance. It's about time someone from the youth team came up and made himself a serious feature in the first team. The only other thing which maybe could have happened to help Chalobah progress is Mikel moving on.
September 7, 20169 yr I was at the game last night and Nate hardly put a foot wrong, he was very conservative in his play but that's a feature that is encouraged in that position (annoyingly). He's good enough right now to replace Matic but if that doesn't start happening soon his career will stagnate and we'll have ruined another potentially outstanding career. Ruben look the most exciting player on the pitch, he just needs to want to do something more often.
September 7, 20169 yr Were still being linked with thiago maia when we have chalobah, baker, and loftus cheek, surely one of them will make the step up to be good enough, all 3 are stand outs at youth level on the world stage.

In recent times Sturridge, Sterling, Kane and now Rashford have all been hyped out of all proportion to their ability. He is still a teenager, yet BT and Sky are already in full sainthood mode, sending him on his way to immortality and eventual burn out well before he has even registered on Jose’s Richter Scale as a spike to be quickly hammered flat, much in the same way as RLC was when he threatened a breakthrough season. United will soon realise that Jose will not compromise when it comes to playing this kid ahead of the likes of Rooney or Zlatan and no amount of media malarkey is going to change this mindset, which is very much that of a coach who has always backed experience ahead of youth, despites colour-coded lists of names to the contrary. Still, it's going to be fun watching Jose trot out the excuses for Rashford’s ultimate marginalisation - poor work rate, no tracking back, no embracing the team ethic and methodology, never mind that good old standby, the club cannot afford to gamble in pursuit of trophies, which roughly translated means I can’t and I wont. Of course, the expectation is that the Special One will be a changed man at United, but this hardly seems likely after his team selections for the opening three Premier League games and the anticipated reliance on his twin ancient spearhead. By contrast, under Conte we have seen the establishment of two of our three Under-21 scorers in the first team squad and if by some miracle they actually get to turn that exposure into regular first team appearances it will go some way towards justifying OUR managerial change, on one level at least. In the meantime, be prepared for a lot more of this Rashford mania claptrap, epitomised in the summing-up of the BT commentator last night [whoever he might be] when he described the United forward’s contribution to the 6-1 thrashing of the Norwegians as ’the difference between the two sides’ - just how embarrassingly delusional can you get?
September 7, 20169 yr Just reading the quotes from Piazion about him being fed up of going on loan. Couple that with Solanke's wage demand, I wonder if the youth are starting to see our so called "youth development" strategy.

September 7, 20169 yr Can't wait for Jose to use the excuse that Rashford was a bit jaded after his midweek excursions, this coming Saturday.
September 8, 20169 yr Erm... am i missing something? ^^^ Rashford and Jose are United men, not related to Chalobah or this thread?

If hes sick of going out on loan he can always terminate his contract and sign for someone else. Im guessing hes not THAT sick of it though.
September 20, 20169 yr It was great to see Conte giving him a chance to play in a situation that we have to win, he came on before Hazard and it surprised me for good. I think he took his chance with his hands, he was available for balls, he was involved in every attack and helped defensively. His passing is very good, he seems very hungry for playing, I hope Conte will take Chalobah as his prospect. Remember what Conte did with Pogba.
September 20, 20169 yr Happy for him, and the way Matic has been playing and the fact Mikel looks like he will be leaving in January Chalobah could find himself playing regularly for Chelsea in the near future.
September 20, 20169 yr Should see Mikel leaving soon. With Chalobah looking ready, it shouldn't really weaken the squad much, if at all.
September 21, 20169 yr He seems quite happy about finally getting his debut: Dream come true for me today. Can't describe putting the shirt on and entering the pitch on my first competitive game. #goosebumps The best feeling ever after 12 years of being at the club.Wana say a big thank you to all the staff in the academy building that helped me.. My family who have played a huge part in keeping me positive my friends and my loved ones. Not forgetting the Chelsea fans all over ... ..the world. Thank you all for your support and kind messages .We look forward to the next game now. #Cfc #cfcfamily #debut
September 21, 20169 yr It's about 3 years too late that he is getting a shot in the squad ahead of Mikel, but hopefully not too late.

October 15, 20169 yr He just looks so ready to step up and be a part of the 1st team. I think he has learned and matured a lot from that season in Italy despite not playing much. Rlc should take a note of chalobahs book.

For all the criticism of the loan policy, he's a 21 year old with 100 professional games of experience and he looks it. I know you could argue training and staying close to the first team has its own benefits but maybe regular football would be better for Ruben at this point in his career?
October 15, 20169 yr Turned my mobile data on when I landed to see we won 3-0 today, then went on Facebook and seen a video of the assist for Moses goal and proceeded to squeal so everyone on the plane was staring at me. i had to then say loudly to the people I was travelling with 'you should see this Chalobah assist' just to justify to everyone why I'd reacted like that. great bit of skill, I hope the lad has a bright future with us!
October 15, 20169 yr So good to see him doing well. Used to watch him in the youth side. We need to be keeping and nurturing our quality youth players. I hope he stays and has a successful future with the club.

I think the faults of the loan system is greatly exaggerated, most players arent good enough to play pl football regularly until their early 20s. Its not just ourselves but also if you look at a player like michael keane who we have been linked with recently. He had 4 or 5 loan spells before finally starting to show he is pl standard. The closest player we had to making the breakthough was ryan bertrand, and he also played a huge amount of games on loan. There are certainly negatives in the loan system, mainly because every loan is a gamble. I think our failings havent necessarily been the loans themselves, but we have failed to continue the momentum built with some players. Really happy for nate though, and i do think rlc could use some regular football at senior level.
