I was thinking the exact same thing.

His brother made a comment on Instagram about Eden not going to Real Madrid.

I think Hazard's best days are starting to be behind him, but at the same time we are not in a position to sell. 

Even if we were to take 220m we would not be able to purchase a player to directly replace him because we are not in the Champions League. He is worth far more to us as a player than an asset right now.  If we were to accept a massive bid, we realistically would not be able to spend it and see a return on it until next season, by which time inflation would reduce the value of Hazard's transfer. 

Champions League qualification is the ultimate prize, worth 100m in finances itself. I'd rather use keep Hazard and sell him for 100m in a year's time than accept a useless 200m now.

200m can buy you a lot of quality. Far from useless

He's 27, his best days are right now. As we saw in the World Cup he's basically reaching Peak Hazard right now, he's certainly not declining in any way.

I made a similar statement maybe a couple weeks back that Marina will put Real over the barrel for Hazard and we will sell on our terms if we do decide to sell. I don't think Real fully understand she is not someone to play games with

I’m pretty sure we won’t sell him. We’ve only got two weeks left and if we do sell him, even if it’s for 300m, clubs will try to rip us off knowing we have the money and need to find a replacement. 

Fabregas is having a wedding party tonight, I wonder if hazard will be in attendance, it might give his team mates chance to convince him to stay, he's probably had 3 months of Martinez and Henry advising him otherwise. 

Just keep him away from messi at the buffet table though. Can't have messi tapping up hazard by the volovants!

Whose job is it to persuade Williian and Bakayoko to leave ? (assuming they were invited) :-)

Maybe a member of the catering team can persuade bakayoko to change careers. Probably best thing for him.

I mean if they’d employed me I’d have dropped a few hints but I guess that’s why they didn’t. 

Odds have increased today on him going to RM, looks like stalemate.

Depends on where you read, RM have turned their attention to Edinson Cavani of PSG after being told Eden Hazard would cost 178 million to sign.

I can't wait to see Eden under this Sarri system. It just sounds insanely perfect for him. I hope those RM twats buy someone else in that position soon so we can relax and focus on just how FRIKKIN AMAZING THIS SEASON IS GOING TO BE*!!!

Madrid will keep their money for Neymar, I reckon PSG will ask double the price they paid. We keep him this season, Madrid will move on and he will sign the long time contract and finish his career with us.

If he doesn't go RM this season o can't see him going in the future, he will commit to Chelsea.

I find this assessment a tad optimistic. He is a nice guy and isn't throwing his toys out of the pram, not publicly. And all credit to him for that.

But whatever doubts he's been having re staying at Chelsea are surely still there and will likely still be there. The club has pretty much given up on serious ambitions to win the league, never mind the Champions League. It looks like we are in for a few years of Arsenal-style attitude where getting into top 4 and getting out of the group in CL constitutes a decent season. A domestic cup once every few years to spice things up. (For the record, I'm not bitter or angry about it, I was a happy Chelsea supporter before Abramovich and if Sarri turns us into a fun team - works for me. It's OK to not be able to compete financially with City.)

Hazard is perfectly entitled to have higher ambitions. And both Real and Barca appear to be potentially in the market for a left-side attacker. And Hazard's market price will be a lot less prohibitive next summer.
