I'd expect Gabriel to get 4 matches , an extra match for failing to leave the pitch when sent off and a few grand to the Christmas do money for the FA.

No point contesting it, he wouldnt have played against Walsall , so he misses Newcastle and Soton. All fired up for Porto.

I feel we have enough in the tank to beat both Walsall and Newcastle without him. It will be a bit crap to lose him versus Soton but as discussed earlier his temperament is always going to be a double edged sword.

I don't mind players being charasteristic on the field. I like personas and Diego is one but he needs to be punished if he is guilty. I love the man but he annoyed me with his antics saturday.

You can show fight without throwing your hands in defenders faces and swinging arms out. If your idea of fight is risking getting sent off needlessly then I'd rather not have it thanks

yes of course, because I don't see things through the blue-tinted specs I must support someone else. It was not even a "little kick", it was a tap with his foot if you watch it. If that was our player sent off for that, you lot would be screaming about campaigns and conspiracies.

Then there is the inconsistency with the refs. Apparently it's fine for people like Ashley Barnes to kick Zouma and Ivanovic inI remember Clattenburg last season let a goal stand for West Brom when their was a clear elbow on Speroni from Craig Dawson, Clattenburg actually thought there was nothing wrong with what Craig Dawson did. It's sh*t.

When asked to review it by the FA he said that if he had seen he wouldn't have sent Rooney off.

I'm f**king tired of it if I'm honest. When he jumped up and chest-barged Koscielny, my immediate reaction was, "What the f**k are you doing?".

Some of us like watching a striker who gives back what he takes from defenders. After the barren years of Fernando Torres spending half the game kneeling on the ground looking up at the referee pleadingly it is a very refreshing change.

 

Fact of the matter is that his actions have never cost us a damn thing while quite possibly winning us many points. He's a marked man now? He was a marked man before he even arrived here, he didn't show anything new yesterday, just affirmed the reputation he's had since day 1. He's been a marked man since he arrived and nothing will change, and it hasn't caused us any grief thus far.

 

Ain't nothing smart about being banned? I'd take him being out for 3 games and us winning that match (which given our form this season thus far was certainly no guarantee regardless of the fact we played very well in the first-half), over us not winning that game and having him for the next 3 matches. Falcao and Remy have shown they can step up, and they will.

 

Let's not pretend that you know about his personal problems because none of us do. The fact he got into handbags with opposition defenders who almost definitely had been niggling at him all game doesn't give any insight into what he is like.

 

I remember a certain Didier Drogba getting sent off in a champions league final for slapping Nemanja Vidic - so I suppose he is also f**king pathetic and has problems.

 

If Costa isn't shrewd, yet apparently does this every game, and has never been sent off, then what is he? That is the very definition of shrewd. He's not an unintelligent bull in a China shop, i'm sure that he does exactly what Jose tells or allows him to do. He didn't attempt a single tackle in that second half - are those the actions of an uncontrollable lunatic or a man who knows how to do what is best for the team?

Never been sent off but is about to serve his second 3 game suspension. Just because he hasnt received a red card doesnt mean hes not a send off waiting to happen. Guy seriously needs to get his act together

No problem with this, sets the standard. So long as it is always applied fairly to every club and players equally.

Ban Diego but ban the defenders that do it week in and week out to.

Ban Ashely Barnes and his leg breaking tackles. Ban aguero and his two footed lunges. Ban toure and his stamps. Ban Sanchez and his punches.

Make it fair, then no problem.

Problem is it is not fair. It is a campaign against Chelsea. As once again proven by the double standards in the British media.

Might not of been sent off during the match, but has been banned after.

Against Arsenal, it could be argued that the Gunners set out to deliberately wind up Costa. If so, the plan backfired spectacularly. What exactly was Koscielny doing to attract the Chelsea man's attention? Was his theatrical response merited? The three former "elite" referees who make up up the FA panel seem to have overlooked the Arsenal defender's part in the incident.

Time to circle the wagons and then fight our way out of this by going on a winning streak.

The thing is I'm not sure Costa's antics actually make him any better. Yes, clearly what happened on Saturday was pivotal in our victory, but I find Costa to be much less of a goal threat when he is scrapping with opposing defenders. He had the balance perfectly at the start of last season, he was scoring goals for fun whilst intimidating the likes of Tim Howard. But he never overstepped the mark wheras on Saturday he went too far, IMO. So far this season he seems to be more interested in having a scrap than scoring goals. What we need is for him to learn how to control his emotions and use them to make him a better striker, not a thug. 

reminds me of mark hughes/ Duncan ferguson........but in todays goldfish bowl world hes always going to be a marked man .sadly baggage we could do without at the moment...

Any idea that Costa wasn't culpable is risible. He deserved to be sent off. As did Gabriel who needs to get to grips with not reacting to sly villainy. I felt a bit sorry for Cazorla though....lovely footballer. Hardly a thug, no?

But tell me Chelsea fans, where are you going? Happy to beat yet again an Arsenal team you can out muscle but not out football, what's the big plan?

You are I have to tell you this, hardly admired. Mourinho is succesful, undeniably but it's like your whole purpose in life is to f**k people off. What's all that about? You have the money and players to compete with Barcelona, but the world loves them. They don't love you. Champions league you won under Di Matteo. I can't see it happen under Mourinho. I wonder if UEFA officials are not kind to you in a way in which they are, say to Barcelona, Bayern or Madrid. Frankly, no UEFA referees will get censure should they give a dodgy decision against Chelsea in the CL.

You reap what you sow. You can't adopt the laager mentality of the average Millwall fan, no one likes us be what don't care.

But frankly if you aim for the top, you should care.
