Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

Featured Replies

I'm f**king tired of it if I'm honest. When he jumped up and chest-barged Koscielny, my immediate reaction was, "What the f**k are you doing?".

Seriously, it's embarrassing. Every f**king game he gets involved in this nonsense and it's becoming a running joke.

Some of us want to watch football, if he's not interested in playing he should become a wrestler.

I hope Jose has a seriously strong word with him now. We've lost him for three games and he's on borrowed time, because he's a marked man now, and I just don't think he can play with that level of scrutiny, because he'll have to change his game dramatically.

He's got what he deserved, a three game ban, nobody can argue.

It's f**king pathetic if you ask me.

There'll be people saying he's shrewd, a street fighter etc. Ain't nothing smart about being banned.

The biggest laugh is when he's described as a hard man.

He's got problems, and he needs to sort them out, and this is where Mourinho comes in, he needs to instil a bit of discipline, he needs to do what Fergie did with a few of his bad boys, channel that aggression constructively, remove the excesses.

Let's not go around blaming other people. This is all Diego's fault.

I agree with everything you say and i think he should dial it down a bit, but it is frustrating that defenders seem to be allowed to get away with pulling, pushing, putting their hands in people's faces and basically being as rough as they can be with strikers, but when a striker gives it back it is somehow wrong. It's frustrating, i look at some defenders from corners and they are thugs, yet they get away with it every single time because they are defenders.

f**king pathetic to get a red card for that. Considering that Costa smacked him in the face several times, to get a straight red for a tiny tap like that is ridiculous.

He didn't touch his face. He had that scuffle with Kosceilny.

Gabriel deserved to walk. He got involved in something that wasn't anything to do with him, then carried it on and wanted the last say in it like some pathetic little child.

Convenient that all four match day officials missed it.

Thankfully all the papers and pundits were able to remind them of it.

Remember when thug Charlie Adam tried to elbow Schurrle twice in the head last season ? the officials didn't see it and because the pundits and people in the media didn't even mention it, the F.A never even investigated it, they never knew it happened.

It's pathetic, i'm sick of the F.A, they just don't do their jobs properly at all.

Then there is the inconsistency with the refs. Apparently it's fine for people like Ashley Barnes to kick Zouma and Ivanovic in mid air and make them fall on their neck and it's ok for him to put in a shocking challenge on Matic. But then you get the likes of Mike Dean writing in his report that if he had seen what Costa did to Kosielny, he would have sent him off. A tiny little slap to the face is treated worse than clear elbows and dangerous play by the likes of Charlie Adam and Ashley Barnes. I remember Clattenburg last season let a goal stand for West Brom when their was a clear elbow on Speroni from Craig Dawson, Clattenburg actually thought there was nothing wrong with what Craig Dawson did. It's sh*t.

It's not the banning of Costa that pisses me off, he bought this on himself by lashing out at Kosielny, but i just want some damn consistency for once.

Deserved the ban, and he won us the game. id say all's well that ends well. he didnt do something stupid right in fron of the ref so we kept 11 on the pitch to help win the game, and we will have 11 on the pitch next game, hopefully with remy leading the line and helping us with his pace on the counter

I cant believe people are defending costa here ...The guy needs to control his aggression and channel it correctly not push defenders in the face and constantly looking for a fight...

Good post. It's the inconsistency that pisses people off and that everything a Chelsea player does wrong is highlighted by the media while injustices against us get ignored by the same.

We have Remy and Falcao as backup. Not concerned. Diego got what he deserved. There is absolutely no one expect Chelsea fans backing Costa in this one.

Other than folk who seek fairness and are sick of the media.

Whoever, it doesn't matter who it was.

I believe this is the forum you're looking for.

Doesn't matter if it was a little kick. It's the intent.

yes of course, because I don't see things through the blue-tinted specs I must support someone else. It was not even a "little kick", it was a tap with his foot if you watch it. If that was our player sent off for that, you lot would be screaming about campaigns and conspiracies.

Both deserved to go by the letter of the law, no one can possibly try to argue otherwise.

The issue though the inconsistency of officials in this country. It seems some get away with and others (mainly Chelsea) don't and that's just not right.

However we have to try and get on top of the situation with Diego, it's no use if he's missing multiple games a season due to his temper. He needs to get it under control because he's a prime target now and I don't trust him to keep his cool anymore.

He deserved to go. The intent was there.

Don't need blue tinted specs for that.

The Guardian article someone posted pinned this.

Diego is not the only one, but he is overly and unfairly punished. I haven't seen him behave in a way that could have ended a youngster's career as we witnessed last season.

If Koscielny's early, Hazard, incident had been dealt with properly we may not even be in this situation.

Diego is not the problem, inconsistent reffing, inconsistent retro attention, the say what they like media and fans who buy into the exaggeration are.

If I was in a court of law I think I'd be happier with Diego giving evidence on my behalf than some of those who have written things here and elsewhere.

Can't believe Arsenal are appealing the red card for Gabriel. he has just been booked and flicked his leg at Costa right in front of the ref who had just warned him about his behaviour. Pure stupidity, he deserved to go. Hope the FA tag an extra game onto the ban for the sheer audacity of Arsenal to bother appealing the red card

On a sidenote costa won't play again until the 17th of october. A good thing to shed some weight and rest his hamstring or a bad thing because he looked a bit sharper on saturday?
