August 13, 20214 yr we could potentionaly end up with no backup striker. Broja on loan, Oli sold, Michy and Tammy on the way out
August 13, 20214 yr If he turns Roma down it could put the Gooners in a good bargaining position, especially if they leave it till the end of the window to bid.
August 14, 20214 yr Appears he waved goodbye to the fans post match today. Shame he didn't get to come on for one last reception but I suppose he was kept on the bench to not risk scuppering a 40 million deal.

In previous seasons we have had Giroud to fall back on. Werner/Havertz as a back up striker doesn’t fill me with confidence against teams who like to sit back. If Lukaku picks up an injury we then we have no natural number 9 to cover. We are quite comfortable in defence now that chalobah is coming through. We need Kante/Lukaku cover.

Even if we keep Tammy Tuchel would play Werner & Havertz ahead of him, there would have to be a major crisis for Tammy to see any minutes.
August 14, 20214 yr Yeah go do well at Roma Tammy. Apparently there is a buy back. Edited August 14, 20214 yr by ozboy
August 14, 20214 yr Well done Tammy, good move. Chance to test yourself in a new league and country, something not enough of our players are up for. Jose will also teach him a few of the dark arts.
August 15, 20214 yr Jose is a big name but I am surprised he’s accepted. I can’t see many players wanting to play for him anymore. But yeah, hopefully Jose will teach him a few things. Shame it has ended with Tammy leaving after his 1.5 full seasons with us. He did well especially under Frank and was crucial. It is not easy finding strikers who can score PL goals. I predict he will be back in a couple of years in the PL. Good luck Tammy.
August 15, 20214 yr I'm little sad to see him go. It's quite a mystery that he didn't get a decent go under Tuchel given how atrocious Werner has been. People can talk all they want about Werner's runs, but I'd take a goal-scoring striker over a dummy all day. He has his flaws but I think he deserved more minutes than he got. Good luck to him. Hope he makes a decent career for himself.
August 15, 20214 yr Werner has that 53m price tag on him. Good luck to Tammy! Hope things go well in, Italy.
August 15, 20214 yr Decent deal for everyone. Roma get a player for a fair price (not a complete bargain or rip off) who will score goals, albeit one who needs to develop many parts of his game. Tammy gets a decent wage, playing for a legendary manager, experiencing a new country, in a top division, albeit one that isn't as intense as the EPL, where he will have the opportunity to flesh out areas of his game that need work. Chelsea get a fair fee for a player who has had all combined 1 decent season for Chelsea, spread over 2 half season - but for who it is increasingly evident that he is not currently good enough to play for a team looking to win it all. We also have the opportunity to buy back in the slime chance that he blossoms into a real player, who is able to stay on his feet. Marina works her magic again!

August 15, 20214 yr Not really sure why Tuchel had so little faith in Tammy but it became clear quite quickly that he was completely out of favour. We tend to try and make one big sale each summer and it looks like Tammy was that player this year. €40m is a good price for us and with the sales of the other out going players we've raised around £100m. Good luck to Tammy, I hope he smashed it in Italy.
August 15, 20214 yr Werner's not at the top of my favourite Chelsea players, but the two of them are incomparable in terms of their importance in this Tuchel setup, Werner's runs and the way he stretches the play so wide and creates so many space is something Tammy would not be able to do. Plus the way Tuchel sets his team for the counter by always leaving two guys upfront that don't really defend that deep when the opponents have possession as we have seen in the friendly at the Emirates a few weeks ago, that is another aspect of the Tuchel setup that Werner fits very well in. Tammy could probably score more than Werner, but we now have a goalscorer and one of world's best in Lukaku. To be fair this current Chelsea team would miss Werner more than it will miss Abraham. Would Tuchel have brought Werner last summer had he been here already? I don't know, maybe yes, maybe not. But he sure found a way to utilise him and play him at his strenghts and make him a vital part of his setup, something he could not do for Tammy, irrespective of their price tags.
August 15, 20214 yr Good luck Tammy! It’s a shame it didn’t work out for him here but with a new adventure and a buyback clause the Chelsea story might not even be over…

Absolutely spot on - Many posters on here will keep repeating ad nauseam that "Tammy was our top scorer" or "Tammy will score more than Werner" - without recognition of all the other stuff you mention. Simply put, Tammy has not been good enough in most areas of play, and although other players also have shortcomings, they contribute more to the overall team than Tammy. I am not sad to be losing the current player/skill set that Tammy has at the moment. For me the sad part here is that we lose one of our own (albeit an arsenal fan at heart), an academy graduate, and the realisation that not all our academy players will make the grade, even when given shedloads of opportunities.
August 15, 20214 yr Werner very rarely played in Abraham's position so surely that's a pointless discussion? Unless you want to claim Abraham would have been a good fit for inside left forward which I've never ever heard an argument for.
