April 3, 201610 yr Lots of rumours from the twitteratti that Conte is in London and due to sign tomorrow. If he's the clubs' choice I would like to see the formal announcement made ASAP, so that planning can begin for the next campaign.
April 3, 201610 yr If he's the clubs' choice I would like to see the formal announcement made ASAP, so that planning can begin for the next campaign. Probably already planning. No announcement needed really. Everyone who needs to know already knows.
April 3, 201610 yr Do you reckon the club will postpone the announcement until after the doping talk has faded? I'm personally uneasy with Conte given his doping history as well as failing to report match fixing when he knew about it. For the record I would be uneasy with Guardiola or Zidane too because of their doping history. The thought of our players doping, or of someone connected to the club participating in match fixing but the manager not reporting it, really bothers me.
April 4, 201610 yr Honestly I would be amazed if most professional football players were NOT on something or another. They have to play through the pain barrier with niggling injuries constantly and with the amount of games they are required to play, with the number still rising due to all these end of season friendly tournaments and tours and so on, I would be amazed if the majority of professional footballers were not using something or another that isnt currently tested for. April 4, 201610 yr This was from yesterday. Antonio #Conte just seen in #London now: tomorrow he should meet and sign with @ChelseaFC. #CFC (via @DiMarzio) So today is the day. Now we wait.

Ourselves and Spurs were known to be using blood spinning and platelet rich plasma injections for key players, which is allowed by the FA, and i'm certain we weren't the only clubs doing it. It's quite an interesting subject if people read up on it, and it would explain Bale's meteoric rise to one of the top players in the world in such a short time.

I think that's a really wild jump to make considering those treatments are used primarily (I don't want to say exclusively) for treating injuries aren't they? Linking in to Bale's rise, which was actually fairly gradual after a slow start at Spurs, is a stretch and I think that's the danger of people throwing around names willy-nilly when there's a whiff of scandal.
April 4, 201610 yr Officially appointed. http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2016/04/conte-appointed.html

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, there's a multitude of supplements etc that athletes can take/ inject that aren't doping drugs, this is just one of them. Yes, blood spinning primarily used for treating injuries to speed up recovery, and of course I'm not particularly knowledgeable about sports medicine, but it's a topic I find interesting. Bale did start slowly, then suddenly he just exploded . Anyway I'm not alleging that anyone was artificially enhanced, it's sports medicine, it's all about getting the best out of athletes.
April 4, 201610 yr Officially appointed. http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2016/04/conte-appointed.html Excellent news, but it's just the start. No announcement about the rest of his staff yet either but at least now we can start moving forwards.
April 4, 201610 yr Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Antonio Conte as First Team Head Coach.
April 4, 201610 yr Good that's it's announced now, close season will be short anyway with the international tournament so no passing around once it's over. Conte in and get on with the job.
April 4, 201610 yr Brilliant news, delighted to hear it announced so soon as well. Hopefully this will give him some time to settle in as well as watch the team and decide what he wants from them next season. Hopefully the next summer window will be less farcical than the last one!

Will he be able to do that with the Euros in a few months? I always thought the international managers are always watching their squads players in the lead up to the tournament. It was one of my worries about this. Edited April 4, 201610 yr by Chelsbear
April 4, 201610 yr First team head coach? Jose was "manager" wasn't it? Sounds like abit of a step down and demotion.
April 4, 201610 yr First team head coach? Jose was "manager" wasn't it? Sounds like abit of a step down and demotion. Good catch. Perhaps they've changed the range of duties to be closer to head coach like they have in the Bundesliga rather than manager. Spurs use head coach too. Which means more responsibility to Emanalo....
April 4, 201610 yr First team head coach? Jose was "manager" wasn't it? Sounds like abit of a step down and demotion. We don't need Conte as manager. We already got Michael Emenalo..............
April 4, 201610 yr Yeah I also thought that was odd. We've been strange with our titles. I think bar Jose we have always had First Team Head Coaches. Conte will have a big say. He wouldnt have said yes if he didn't.
