Jose Mourinho thread

So now he's bullying Martial just like de bruyne and countless other players he's fallen out with. For Utd's sake they better hope Martial outlasts him.

Said it for months now he's basically pulled a manager version of Torres.

Ex great who declined almost overnight at the club he made his name at, but people put it down to other aspects of the club rather than the men themselves (Jose not being "backed", Torres playing under Roy and with Poulsen), so believing it was temporary form as opposed to the beginning of the end a rival snapped him up but instead of a return to prime form the true extent of his decline is there for all to see, just like it was for Nando here.

Infact United fans seem to be making the same hilarious excuses for Jose some of us made for Torres, mainly blaming anyone or anything but the man himself for his shortcomings.

It was interesting hearing Ballack talk at the weekend talking about managers who lose that 2-3% over time. He wasn't specifically talking about Jose but it did make me think that Jose may have lost lost that 2-3% that can make all the difference.

Jose's biggest strength was always his ability to build strong bonds with his teams. He doesn't seem to be able to do that and is frequently calling players out. Early Jose was generally protective of his players.

That said, im not writing him of just yet.

I'd be worried if I'm a United fan ( f* not). He just looks so agitated, and out of ideas apart from blaming the referees or sign a few ore 80M players. They played Hull 3 times in about a month with almost their best team, only better them via 1 goal difference. That's not what you expect from a top 6 or even top half team, with or without the referees making the old errors. If a team's only chance to win is to get a penalty or having the opposition down to 10, it's pretty screwed.

Thats not the only chance they have, they get quite a few offside goals as well

Some of them on Redcafe call him the best manager in the world

imagine being the best manager in the world and still being 14pts behind the top team in February

He's lost whatever magic he had. Players can't even respect what he did as a player. United look like we did. Struggling to find a goal. I was blaming our players when all along it was him strangling their creativity and pissing everybody off.

I'm no really sure what Mourinhos obsession with Ibra is. At 35 I don't actually rate him that highly. As a squad player yes but not someone who will play every game and never dare be subbed. With a new contract he will be 36, I would rather have Rooney and Rashford personally.

When I watch Ibra he is so lazy, I don't find his build up play particular good either. I actually think he holds them back.

Fellani new contract is funny. One of the worst midfielders around. I think he maybe keeping this two because he likes certain players who will back him up.

He has 14 goals in 21 pl games...

And he's had 94 shots on goal, so a conversion rate of 1 in 7 ... not exactly efficient ... those stats don't make him undroppable or beyond criticism for me when he's played as the lone striker ... Costa is 1 in 4 in comparison.

Not sure whether you have watched any of their games this year but without him they would be nowhere. He is at the centre of every good attacking move and is by far their most creative player. They have absolutely no creativity otherwise.

Him and Carrick are keeping this team from an implosion.

He isn't the great finisher that he was anymore but his contribution is much more than that. His link up play is amazing and much better than Costa's. I would take Costa in my team every day but I don't think Costa has he same vision and passing ability that Ibra has.

I've watched plenty of Utd games and find him so frustrating. Without Ibra utd would of signed a different forward. I reckon alot more of them draws would of been wins. He don't even get taken off when his not playing well.

Utd have been a much better team since the return of Carrick.

A stat to look at here would be chances created... And compare it to overall chances created by the team.

I'm not the biggest stat person. The classic example was Ozil last season when everyone was talking about his assist. Problem with assists is I could make a short pass to someone and they smack it in from 25 yards. That's an assist for me.

I was judging by how I see Ibra play in the games I have watched. Overall I don't think he contributes enough. His just too static and doesn't create enough in my eyes.
