Welcome Emerson Palmieri!

Featured Replies

He should be a magician rather a footballer, he makes a fantastic disappearing act. When I think about the game today I really struggle to remember him. Was he even playing?

And we were wanting him to replace Alonso... Good god. (I was one of them!)

Really well put, I admit I am guilty of this.

Doesn't tackle , doesn't cross

what do you do?

I see a very average player who wouldn't look out of place in the lower divisions. Whenever receives the ball he passes it backwards 5 yds, no movement to receive from there. Defensively is he any better than Alonso (who at least does fit a particular system).

1st position I'd like to see upgraded in the window.

Literally about to post the same thing, the hype around him is truly bizarre.

People can say what they like about Marcos and he's a very frustrating player but atleast he has an upside of some substance even if we only see it one game in five.

Playing Emerson is starting the game handicapped.

Yet some on here made him sound like the second coming of Ashley Cole simply because he had pace and did not look as poor as Alonso does at leftback defensively. Seriously low low bar.

Is that even true? I'm not convinced myself.

Even in his supposed good form in August 4 goals came from his side of the pitch.

Alex Telles would be fantastic LB signing. Why the board sit on their hands when it's obvious LB is a position in need of reinforcing, I don't know.

How do you know they're sitting on their hands?

Telles is 27 and no one has yet taken a punt on him in a major league, must be a reason for that.

Grimaldo looks a safer option.

Always wondered why he was stuck in Portugal, however considering he is Brazilian he probably has some ownership issues. Doesn’t explain why he has only one Brazilian cap though.

Played in italy for a season, did okay  but not great from memory. I dont really think the lack of major european league is an issue, he has been at porto competing in the champions league, and he was also pretty late making the move to europe. Fernandinho was 30 before he made a move to a top league.

I actually think Telles could be likely to come here, i think its been close to happening a few times already.

Grimaldo is also a fsntastic player though, more dynamic than telles, but doesnt have the same level of delivery, and he is physically quite small.

In all honesty though i would be more than happy with Telles, Grimaldo, or even Gaya.

Am not even sure on that anymore. Think he is capable of being just as poor as Marcos on his worst day.

What a huge disappointment he has been. I was really willing him to get his chance last season, now that he has had it, he doesn't look like he can be bothered. I don't see anyway back for him after today, it's never a good sign being taken off before the break. He's not trying hard enough, and in this league it highlights that type of mentality more than any other. I don't want anybody with such a poor attitude playing for the club.

Don't know why he was playing in this system when Alonso is clearly the best at it. But the performance was terrible regardless, pitchforks out boys

Alonso was injured. Emerson's finished at Chelsea. He's stealing a living.

I thought he started off the season really well, he was aggressive, neat and tidy on the ball, and looked threatening going forward.

Then he got injured and since he has come back, he has been garbage. Poor going forward, and keeps switching off in defence.

I too thought he's had some good moments, now he's disappointing. But I thought Alonso was finished too, and he had a terrific match against Spurs, so who knows.

Too lenient?

I don’t think he’s made one single forward pass, not one. He passed the ball back to defence every single time, killing whatever we were going to start. He was such a negative player today, I was scared we were going to carry on doing this for rest of the game but thankfully he got hooked.

He hasn’t made an impact yet despite having been here for 2 years. To compare, Barkley and Giroud have arrived in the same window and they made a much bigger impact. It’s time to let him go.

He looks like a footballer, but he just isn't one!

Abysmal. If we can't sign a replacement in January then even an academy player has to be a better option.
