Next Chelsea Manager

Who would be your choice as Chelsea manager going into next season? 213 members have voted

  1. 1. Here are the current favorites with Conte included. Jody Morris is in there as he is the current youth team manager, and promoting from within seems to have worked for Barca, so why not us?!

Guys, an inside source has just told me that the deal will be confirmed tomorrow.
In the very unlikely case this doesn't happen, then a deal will be confirmed some other day with the possibility of either keeping Conte or getting a different manager.

So basically anything can happen?

Sarri and Jorginho would be so unbelievable after this song and dance that I'm not getting my hopes up!

I suspect we're paying way more for Sarri than we would have if we'd just triggered his release clause. We tried to be cute and we've had our fingers burned by ADL as a result. We're also getting our manager way later than we would have otherwise. Marina should have done her due diligence. The Napoli owner is not to be messed with. Pre-season has started and we've lost all our leverage. She wanted ADL to believe she'd just walk away and keep Conte on as manager. She's clearly an idiot.

Now we'll sign Jorginho, everybody will forget what an idiot she is. The price for Jorginho will be bumped up, to cover the extra we've paid for Sarri, in order to save her blushes.

As an aside, if we give Jorginho Barkley's number 8 jersey, it only further illustrates what absolute cretins our board are. We signed Drinkwater and Barkley last season principally because they were English, not because the manager wanted them. He clearly didn't. He didn't even know who they were. The fact that Drinkwater and Barkley have never been given a chance ensures it will be very hard to persuade English players from joining us again.

I've come to the firm conclusion that the people that run our club are idiots.

Officially Conte has been our manager all this time and is now starting the pre-season.

If the club wanted to part ways, he could have been sacked a day after winning the FA Cup, but he wasn't.

The narrative of "the season has ended just a few days ago" has died as I thought it would.

I expect Hazard and Willian to leave the club in the next 2 weeks more or less.

The club has a lot going for us but the people in charge are still willing to put diesel in a ferrari, 5-3-2 season once again and the best academy in the nation will be ignored just as much it was last season...

Sarri along with beating City for Jorginho is a massive coup for Chelsea, regardless of the time it's taken.

Jorginho is one of the best passers of a ball in world football currently and would fill a massive void that's been in our midfield all of last season.

Sounds like Roman has finally realised that enough is enough (if this goes through that is).

Yeah, like you say, IF this goes through. I'm not so confident though. When it comes to Chelsea, the media have proven that they don't really have a clue what they are talking about. They just seem to take wild guesses.

I agree. I don't have any faith in the current system in place at Chelsea to do the right thing. However, there's a lot of going round now about Jorginho signing for us instead of City.

Especially when you consider how much we paid for Drinkwater and Barkley.  If we wanted English players in the team, i don't see why we didn't just keep RLC and develop him with some games under Conte. Even Ampadu looked solid enough when he played... and yes I know he's Welsh.

This thread is hilarious. Were making a short film for Sarri and the main Actor will be Jorginho playing as Sarri, to include the double announcements in a fecking Tarantino-like flick.

Whatever has transpired in the last few weeks is utterly shambolic for a club of Chelsea’s stature.

We have ceded time and preparation compared with all our direct opponents, not to mention the confusion and uncertainty engulfing all players and support staff, and the damaging mental footprint that brings, when players should have been up and running with physical conditioning and tactical mentorship by now. No footballer can be focussed when his own future in the playing-eleven or even staying at the club for that matter is not completely certain.

There would be many here who would still defend the board’s ineptness in closing out the Sarri/Conte fiasco as we are not aware (or entitled to know, as some have put) of many of the ongoing problems, but I am convinced that Marina Granovskaia’s haggling over a few million has cost us many times more.

I think any rumour underlines it is a silly rumour when it says something too specific like he will take Barkley's number 8. Unnecessary small bit of info that gives it away. If two clubs are negotiating of a player, the number is the last thing on the list. Somehow the reporter knows this bit of information....

they have been back for TWO DAYS. Half the squad ISN'T EVEN BACK. At MOST so far HALF the squad has had ONE training session with Conte. This would be the case with any manager. Then you assume people on the inside know as much as us on the outside.

Just go with this next time instead of trying to make up reasons to say it.

How dare you attack the board on this forum? Don't you know that's an absolute sin on here?

No way are we paying more than the £8m release clause.

I know people like a good moan at our female negotiator but from the top of my head I can't think of a single transfer we have been fleeced for in negotiations, Drinkwater and Bakayoko were just poor transfer decisions (potentially) the price they were bought for was no more than their market value.

Yes we have missed a few players because the price asked was obscene, but we aren't state backed like city or PSG and sometimes you just have to walk away. This is the area which we definitely could definitely be quicker at if the reports on transfer sagas are to be believed.

If Sarri is announced and training the squad on Wednesday there really won't have been any disruption to the squad, our first pre season game isn't for another 13 days.

Hopefully some of you delightful souls will finally be able to cheer up a bit.

Sarri will be in London on Wednesday and within 48 hours he will be joined by Jorginho and possibly Higuain, Rugani and Vecino. (Corriere dello Sport)
