Higuain

Featured Replies

Gonzalo took the nickname “El Pipita” dubbed after his father, who had the nickname “Pipa”. It has something to do with having a big nose. Apparently the Higuaín brothers (Gonzalo and Federico) both share the nickname “El Pipita” after his father “El Pipa” Higuaín.

Have a bad feeling about this, doesn’t strike me as a player cut out for English football

Understand where you are coming from yet think he will do ok though bizarrely this season think Wilson would have done better.

Unless he can score with it what’s the difference

Not optimistic about this at all. He’s been laboured and ineffective the last couple of seasons and that’s in the much slower Italian league where he gets more time and space than he’ll get in England.

Given that he’s presumably going to spearhead our forward line for the rest of the season, this is a terrible gamble by the club. This deal is surely at Sarri’s request, so if this turns into a disaster he’ll have nowhere to hide.

Higuain playing under Sarri.

When you look at these you see there is 0 goals scored against a stubborn bus. What Higuain gives us is smart movement. That is something Morata did sometimes but far too little. He also has the ability to finish from virtually anywhere. Morata could miss from virtually anywhere so these two have something in common.

This will not solve pur scoring problem but it can help us open some knots.

I think it's a no brainer, we need a goal scorer this season without splashing millions. The club can look at potential long term strikers while Higuain helps us cement a top 4 position, as well as a potential cup win with the competitions we are in.

I don't get the doubters on this one, unlike Torres, Falcao etc Higuain is clearly fit and prior to Milan (who are pretty average these days) he has a great goal scoring record. Having a player like him upfront will give the opposition more to think about than just Hazard.

I don't want to here Sarri saying he doesn't get involved in picking possible transfers anymore, when it obviously isn't true.

"Transfer market is a refuge for the weak. It for those who can't train their players."

Crazy to think it was only a couple of years ago that Juventus paid £75m for Higuain and now he's been shipped about on loan.

I get that they signed Ronaldo but I think it's interesting they kept Mandzukic ahead of Higuain.

We're not scoring enough goals, we all know that. Is Higuain going to offer us much more than Morata or Giroud? Remains to be seen I suppose but this is a gamble... There was a few stories floating about in the summer that the club didn't want to sign Higuain due to his age and wages. We've done a U-turn on that by the looks of it, Sarri gets what he wants and in my mind if the loan flops that'll be on him.

Pretty excited to see him play to be honest.

Morata and Giroud weren't great so he hasn't exactly got big boots to fill. He might take to the prem like a duck to water, only time will tell. There isn't many options out there that are remotely close to a guarentee, so we have rolled the dice a little bit, but that was always going to be the case.

I think this is our 5th Argentine player, after Crespo, Veron, Di Santo, and Cabellero, none of which have been a roaring success, although Crespo was fantastic, but had off field troubles.

Lets hope Higuian can succeed where others have failed.

People are speaking like he’s finished as a top striker. Believe me, he’s far from finished.

AC Milan supporters are saying there are a lot of reasons behind his bad form there, with too much crap going on in the club. A few even said he’s still world class.

Youre all in for a shock. He’s going to be very, very good.

I reckon he'll be a solid improvement and may bag 10-15 goals in all comps by the end of the season, but I certainly don't think he'll set the PL on fire. The loan is a no brainer really, if it doesnt work out it's not on us, but our striking situation is a dire one so i'm happy enough, not over the moon though, just content. That's if he signs and it doesnt fall through.

He puts it on frame as soon as possible.  Never seems to be to cute, just puts on frame.

Can you tell us old buggers what this ACTUALLY means?

Oh, and isn't it a sad reflection on our times that we have people  apportioning blame already, before the loan/transfer is even announced?
