We weren't potent enough but wolves literally parked the bus the entire game. Do you know where that phrase came from? Mourinho describing allardyces West ham when they defended for a draw. It's something that happens Sarri even changed it up bringing on willian for jorginho. He brought on CHO and RLC early. I wanted Sarri gone a few weeks ago but he's changed it around for me and today gave me more faith, not less. He wasted an hour of the game before changing it, would thought more of him if he played them from start, let's not kid ourselves lost in a final, beat spurs who have been poor for weeks beat Fulham who have 17 points after 29 games and beat keiv who are equivalent to a league one side, if we think this bloke is going to take us to great things then we are deluded. When we finish 6th and f**k up in the Europa maybe people will realise, anyway always fun supporting Chelsea. UTC
March 10, 20197 yr Give the man a break. We call for RLC and CHO, they did not start but were his first two subs, neither pulled up trees and with 20 minutes to go he changed his system and pulled Jorginho for Willian. He showed flexability at last and Hazard gave us a moment of magic to get a point. Wolves came to spoil the game, nothing wrong with that but we are not best withut Costa or Drogba to break down those teams. We fought first minute to last. The ball did not break for us. By United standards we should have had a pen for the handball the player kicked on to his own outstretched hand and the hazard one could easily have been given as a pen rather than free kick. Higuain was centermeters from a tap in, and on another day dave blocks their goal not deflects it in. We were unlucky. We dominated them and deserved to win and Sarri showed ambition with his changes. I thought he and the team handled the game very well and tried to the last against a fine team with a solid game plan.

March 10, 20197 yr Sarri's comments on the official site are spot on, i.e. we are too slow, not enough movement off the ball, holding on to the ball too long etc. The problem is that we've seen it again and again this season. So why haven't we addressed it?

So why haven't we addressed it? How do we when our players are mainly ponderous in attacking play and when they try first time passes they often give it away? Ironically our best first time passer of late has been the much maligned Jorginho imo.

So why haven't we addressed it? 2 reasons:1: There's just no real time for actual coaching now. It's mostly match prep, fitness and recovery.2. We don't have the players to address it. At any time we have max 3 attacking threats on the field. Our midfield is generally blunt It's only at the end of today's game that we saw something different. I think Sarri will consider 4-2-3-1 a bit more going forward, in matches where we can expect to massively dominate possession like we did today.
March 10, 20197 yr 4-2-3-1 didn't solved any problem. The problem is making right moviments in right time as a team. This is the hugest difference beetween previous Sarri's teams and Chelsea. Premier League is not the reason, I saw the same problem in Europe League this season.
March 10, 20197 yr John Terry should have a word with Grealish, he looks more dynamic than any of our one paced MFs, well maybe not Kante, cos under a new coach we know where he'd be played

March 11, 20197 yr We win the game in hand and we are at 60 points. Spurs are at 61, Arsenal at 60 and ManU at 57. We are well in the mix here. Lets keep the focus and aim for a goal that is very much in our hands.
March 11, 20197 yr Sarri just needs to forget this Sarri ball we all hear about for the rest of the season and maybe take Jorginho out of the limelight starting Thursday. Go all out for top 4, tweak the formation and players depending on the opposition and then he will have the summer to really work with the players. Hopefully the transfer ban gets suspended and we can freshen up the squad and get rid of some of the older players like Luiz and Willian.

Should we not bother with the Europa League?

It means dont play 3 defensive midfielders against defensive teams specially at home, it means maybe change it up and surprise the opposition instead of playing the exact same way for months and not even making the opposition manager work that hard with knowing how we play. If most of the fans on this forum know how we play and we knew from quite early on in the match against Wolves what was going to happen, then it's not hard for opposition managers.
March 11, 20197 yr Was good to see him finally try a different formation when things weren't working, but that alone won't do much when the players are still playing the same way. Even when we switched to 4-2-3-1 there was still little width or urgency, and every time the wingers or fullbacks got it, their first thought was still always to pass it back inside again. If they keep doing that, it won't matter what formation we use, they'll struggle to break teams down.

We must be the easiest team to prepare against in the prem. We all know how the team is going to play, sideways back sideways back. It makes me laugh how people on here say oh he changed the formation and we looked better. It was only for 20 mins and it’s the first time it’s happened. Playing with 3 defensive midfielders at home means you have no chance of breaking any team down especially when Sarri’s son spent most of the game giving the ball away.

March 11, 20197 yr Well he changed formation for what I can remember is the first time as Chelsea manager... and it was exactly the right thing to do. Initial strategy was to have the wingers stay very wide in order to pin back their wing-backs (generally the right thing to do) - it's a shame our full-backs couldn't make better use of the space they were afforded. After seeing that this was completely nullifying Hazard, he took off Jorginho (who was more or less completely unnecessary after going 1-0 down) and brought on another winger, allowing Hazard to move centrally. This change ultimately led to our equaliser. Not considering our initial, predictable gameplan which a team half as astute as Wolves could have seen a mile away... Sarri adapted well at least.

March 12, 20197 yr Not sure where to post this, but I’ve just discovered on YouTube the wonderful delights of Chelsea fan rants following defeats. Check out the angry Asian after the 6-0 Man City loss. What a knobhead.
