July 27, 20187 yr Maybe the most insignificant signing ever. But hey somewhere it says that you should have 3 goalkeepers in the squad and he's homegrown so this is the calm before the storm, the board wants a big signing outside of England so there is still hope.
July 27, 20187 yr So I don't understand why we put Eduardo to on loan then instead of selling him. Green is actually our fourth choice, or possibly even fifth choice if you consider the club have put both Eduardo and Blackman out on loan. Of course the truly sobering thought is if we do sell Courtois, fail to get a replacement in time and end up with Caballero as number 1 and Green as actually number 2. God help us.

I’m sure we renewed his contract for a year then sent him on loan which can only be as a favour to Vitesse and we’re paying his wages. Madness really.

The Eduardo one is on the surface strange but he no doubt has a re call clause in his loan agreement . What that in effect does is enable us, should the need arise, to call him back from loan invoking the special provisions that apply to the GK position. Courtois is very very unlikely to go anywhere unless a replacement is signed first but I can’t but help feel that there is a bit of brinkmanship going on and before the window is signed he will sign a new contract.
July 30, 20187 yr Rob Green Rob Green, he’s the greatest we’ve ever seen, his name is Green, but he plays in blue, if your one on one he will stop you, we all love Rob Green oy! sorry, bored.

March 27, 20197 yr A fascinating insight into what it's like being a third-choice goalkeeper. The forgotten man at Chelsea, Rob Green speaks. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47605775
March 31, 20197 yr Wanted to see what it was like at a big club; take that Pikeys, QPR and Dirty Leeds
May 30, 20197 yr The respect the players show to Rob Green says it all. Sometimes it’s what happens behind the scenes that counts, and he is clearly a great club man. I watched him in the warm up away to Leicester, last league game of the season, and he worked so hard. He is obviously a true professional and appreciates being a part of Chelsea FC and all that is brilliant about our club. I hope the guy stays with us and undertakes a coaching roll of some sort, to be honest he appears to be doing this already.
May 30, 20197 yr Was very happy for him. As The Swan said he clearly plays his role behind the scenes and given the service he's given to numerous clubs he deserves this moment even if he didn't play a minute in the run. Not only that, he was actually a very good keeper in his prime (at West Ham) and statically played the best GK performance in PL history for WHU away at Arsenal in (roughly) 2007. May 31, 20197 yr Wishing Rob a happy retirement. Easy to forget that he was an impressive goalkeeper years back. It's evident he's a well-loved teammate and will be missed by everyone at the club.

May 31, 20197 yr Little bit insecure now he’s gone, now no players are older than me at the club except Willy!
June 1, 20197 yr I enjoyed his little cameo on the podium, I'm sure he's done something good for the club, like fetching drinks or picking the balls out of the net during training. We could have done a lot worse than having a former England number 1 as the third choice GK, pretty sure he pushed Kepa or Willy all the way to the final.
June 1, 20197 yr Nice way to sign off, I would've liked him to stay though just to satisfy our home grown quota, although I suspect next season we should have enough anyway. I guess Blackman will be a cheaper 3rd keeper anyway - he can't even get a game for Leeds...

June 1, 20197 yr Hopefully Spurs lose tonight, then we can sing this next time we play them. "He's won more than you, he's won more than youuuuu. Rob Green. He's won more than you."
