August 8, 20232 yr Whatever punishment we get from Premier League sets a precedent. Because effectively the club would be punished for actions taken under previous owners. So I would imagine if we get a points deduction there will be a number of other clubs at risk of similar action. Everton and City spring to mind immediately but I suspect if you look under enough rocks most clubs will have some dodgy dealings.
August 8, 20232 yr Nkunku out until next year, Fofana out till next season, Lukaku still on the wage bill and now this. @Snedgerand @axman2526 will be in pessimistic heaven. And it's still pissing down with rain here.

August 8, 20232 yr If there's one thing guaranteed in life, it's that just when you start feeling slightly optimistic about CHelsea again, the bad news is only days away.

Aye you can see it coming that we have to end up either playing Mason Burstow or Raheem Sterling as our striker....

Nkunku was playing off him as more of a number 10. Watching pre-season games Maatsen did a decent enough job in that role too, and impressed Pochettino. I could see him starting in place of Nkunku.

I was meaning, with our luck with injuries, we would not have Jackson or Broja available so would be left with Burstow or Sterling up top
August 8, 20232 yr It is disappointing to say the least. I thought the premier league overseeing the acquisition would’ve cleared Roman’s name. Seems they waited a year before brining charges.

August 9, 20232 yr With the huge FA and Government involvement in the sanctions against RA, his ownership and forced sale of the Club, how in hell has it taken 15 months for news of the financial discrepancies to come out. The Premier League are supposed to scrutinise the Annual accounts of every club to make sure they comply with FFP and dozens of other rules and yet clearly they have missed something big. Does that mean they are not looking too hard or does it meant that they are inept? It has taken the new owners to actually alert UEFA and FA to this. It also calls into question the professionalism of Clearlake's due diligence !! What a fu**ing mess, it could only happen to Chelsea

( The dodgy payments under RA) Well, Andy Goldstein said it , so perhaps it's ok. You just know if they could f**k us over they will , and if they can link it to Putin and Ukraine they definitely will f**k us over Fu**ing Goldstein is so anti Chelsea, he really does hate us. Wait until he sees how poor Mount is too.........................🤣🤣

Everytime we do, you can guarantee something will come around and ruin the mood. Oh, pre season went well, but f**k you here's two serious injuries and a Premier League investigation into financial irregularities. The only time we get a break from it all is when the season ends. I thought Football was supposed to be entertaining?
August 9, 20232 yr I don't quite get the latest thing, so Boehly found something fishy in Roman's dealings and decided to dob Roman ( and Chelsea in)? Instead of getting a reward , the club will be punished financially and possibly points deduction. I mean what does Boehly get out of this, or he just wanted some attention? Few days to kick off, we already down a few key players, and still no idea whom to put in the midfield. Yes, I'm optimistic about the season😃

August 9, 20232 yr Can we offer Lukaku as a sort of compensation in kind to the FA? Just thinking outside the box here.

Now it's the FAs turn to do their investigation. Why did we report it? Because if we didn't, then Clearlake would be as responsible as Roman for the rule breaking. Reporting it means we are putting a line under it and hoping that works in our favour. I don't imagine they are going to slap us with a points deduction, however we will get a heavy fine. If we had tried to cover this up, then a points deduction is more likely. The only reason why we might still get a points deduction is if they are trying to set a precedent for another club in blue.

What it suggests is that Clearlake have been seriously forensic in their accounting. Good thing.

Good thing. Exactly, todays news and tomorrow’s fish and chips paper that will probably end in a big fine. The self reporting part of a previous regime should carry a bit of weight in our defence despite other clubs and the media’s dislike of us.
August 9, 20232 yr Someone correct me? There was some dodgy payments found under Roman later after all club and assets seized. The club got sold to new owners. Now, the club and new owners are getting punished for it? How does that work? Its like someone buying a second hand car then getting fined speeding tickets caused by the last owner years later, just cause they own that car now? What gives?

Everyone should be worried by the Premier League investigation. I reckon a points deduction and a big fine are in the post. Our current owners have rightly flagged a number of issues primarily relating to payments to off shore companies. sh*t isn’t looking good that’s for sure. The Andreas Christenson situation is also under investigation. We hired his old man as a scout on the day we signed his son apparently and then paid him £650,000 over 4 years even though he was Brondby keeper coach all that time. Apologies if this has been talked about before and it’s old news but putting aside £100 million to cover possible fines would suggest the owners won’t be able to defend much from the investigation. Was it B.Traore or Gael Kakuta we did something similar to this?

Probably because you buy the lot: all rights and obligations. Illegal acts stick to the company (i.e. the club), no matter who the owners are.

But then in that case, didn’t Todd declare the illicit payments under Roman when all the books were done? If so, they should be paying him or at least offer a few beers and a free spa treatment for the heads up!
