My not rating him as highly as others on here has absolutely nothing to do with the contract saga!

I am not saying for one minute he doesn't have the potential to be a top player! Just that so far I haven't been overly impressed by what he's shown in league games.

Can we not disagree about players without making accusations about posters that are wrong and insulting?

Liked what i saw from him today. Think Lampard is doing the right thing by integrating him into the team slowly and steadily.

He looked awesome yesterday, everything that went through him was positive. I liked that Frank gave him a chance, I think it's time we should be considering giving this man a start, maybe after the United game?

He will almost definitely start against Man Utd.

You think? I thought Pulisic was nailed on to start against Ajax. 

With it being such a big game I think Frank will go with Azpiluceuta at the back and with Alonso, two experienced players. Although it depends what formation we go with, if he goes with 3 at the back then Reece will most likely start.

Yeah you make a good point, I just thought both Azpilicueta and Alonso could use a rest.

Would like to see Reece and Emerson start in the cup though wouldn't be too surprised if we remain unchanged for the most part.

Thought he was the big brightspot yesterday.

For now i think the sensible decision is to start him at rightback against Watford and Azpi as the LB.

He looks more than capable of starting games doesn't he. 

I was really impressed with him, he was one of the few good players in the first half I thought also.

Second this.

He had a few dodgy moments, didn’t control a few passes to him and misread a few long balls to him.
 

There was a point where Zouma covered for him at right back and he went in to the middle then got completely lost. Zouma got a bit animated telling him where he should be.
 

That being said you can see the talent and potential the lad has, he was definitely one of our better players last night. Got forward well and got some nice balls in to the box. Even better he’s got Dave to learn from, great mentor!

 

That second half performance probably just won him a start in the next Premier League game.

Best full back I’ve seen since Dave in his better days.

I think he’s going to grow into one of the best. I’m excited to see more of him!

Please just start starting him now... I'm getting sick of watching the inevitable slow and bad performances from Azpi and Alonso outwide. If Emerson is out then Azpi should be playing LB with James RB, simple as that for me.

Dave could be dropped for him for the next game. Dave has been playing 90mins consecutively for 2 weeks now.

Alonso is gone as far as I'm concerned

Watched him at Wigan and was impressed, he gives so much going forward.

Won’t be long before he’s our regular right back.

You are probably right and the fact that Azpilicueta is the captain. With Alonso gone, the spotlight will be on Azpilicueta though. I just hope we sooner rather then later have James and Emerson as our starting fullbacks.

I’ve not been overly impressed with him in his previous appearances for us but tonight he was fantastic when he came on. If Emerson is out then it’s definitely Azpi at LB & James at RB. Azpilicueta looked a different player in the second half, even looked a lot more dangerous going forward as well.

RB, CB of a back 3, LB and wing back, he can play all over the defence, but LB has been his best position over his career with us. The funny thing is that RB is probably his worst position across the defence, even though it's the position he has played in for most of his career.

This guy has the lot. Pace, the build, the technique, he's going right to the top. Wigan fans waxed lyrical over him last year, I can see why. 

He really needs to be starting. He offers so much more than dave.
