If that's playing a part in the reason he's leaving he's in for a nasty shock if he goes to a rival.

The England fans of our rival clubs already think he's overrated crap so he'll have the same or worse level of trolling plus potential stick at the game to go with it.

They don't, they've just used it as a beating stick against a rival out of jealousy. Most rival fans i've seen online these days are desperate for him, especially Liverpool and Utd fans.

This club and these owners don't deserve him.

I'm sorry, but Chelsea is the club that has made him the player that he is. He's grown up here, a Chelsea boy, and has become the great player that he has shown to be at Chelsea and thanks to this Club. As it was said, and pinned in this thread, some saw him as Chelsea captain material. If he's not willing to stay and fight for his position in the team, the Club and, most importantly, the fans after a single season that we've been sh*t in years, then he's showing that he's no more than a Lukaku. I want him to stay, I think that he is a great player, but would be very disappointed if he left for the reasons that are thrown around (e.g. he's not given as much money as James or Sterling, he's tired of the stick he gets from random virtual fans, or he's been benched). Stay and help Chelsea pull through the rough times.

Said it before, that I like Mase and I want him to stay....but...

- He is not a standout player or game changer. He is a grafter, but doesn't do enough to take games by the scruff of their neck.

I dont see how you can put this, when he has been one of the highest Goal and assist players in the league up until this season, as a 22 year old kid. He has also assisted or scored goals in CL runs, finals, all kinds of games. He has literally shown he is a game changer for us.

Carl Anka made a pretty good summary regarding Mount:

He operates best as a multi-use cog in an already well-functioning machine, rather than someone who can jumpstart a misfiring mechanism. I often describe him as a capable member of a supporting cast rather than a charismatic lead. He’s not a star player but can have a starring role in a good team performance.

Fair enough. For me, he is more of a grafter and worker bee, but appreciate that he had a decent goal/assist tally in past seasons.

no idea who Carl Anka is, but I agree wholeheartedly with the assessment

Yeah I would say thats a very good description, but I think he is also able to be a game winner for us, he has proven this in the past. I think we will massively regret selling him if it happens.

He's an exceptional supporting player, a quality team player, in my view. Yes, not the star of the team a la Hazard, but a type of player that makes up an elite club. If he goes, we'll miss him.

My opinion of him has always been good player but not a great one (at elite level). If he’s unwilling to sign a new contract then I’ve no issues with the club letting him leave. I’m sure they’re offering a very reasonable contract to him.

He seems like an ideal reminder to fans that 99% of players/managers have no major loyalty to any club, nor should they because any club will get rid of them as quick if the roles are reversed.

One of the things I noticed was when Mount came off the bench and started charging down the opposition it seemed to have  knock-on effect with everyone else appearing to raise their game.

wanting to leave the club when we're at our lowest and crying for insane wages! Pathetic from mickey.

not proper chels at all, he doesnt get it. Could you ever imagine the likes of James leaving us when we're at our lowest? No he will stay and fight. Instead mercenary mount just twerking for rival clubs for more money

I see it somewhat differently player-one-up-man-ship I recall talking about this with a mate at SB who was hearing gossip about the Liverpool footballers in the 90s and who's wife was out of favour normally as she was having a right barney about salaries after hearing someone was on x amount per week and her hubby wasn't.

Mount seems to have been unlucky with timing and has a bee in his bonnet about his salary probably not matching Reece's. Now James has become one of the best yet also now one of the most injury prone and Mount was rarely injured (except recently) and one of our most important players under Frank and TT.

Where you are right is his grievance about pay reflects his self-worth and the fact that CFC won't budge means he is likely to go elsewhere. He also knows depending on any new manager he could be out of favour too at the best time of his career ( his agent is probably also saying this.)

None of us knows what really happened. You could be 100 % spot on but you could also be totally wrong. I also don`t trust Reece or any other player in terms of "loyalty". Sadly, loyalty is really not a thing anymore in football (or rather in society in general). And even years ago it was very rare that a player was totally committed to a club. John Terry, Totti, Maldini, Puyol and some others (dont want to mention that moron from Liverpool in the same sentence with these legends of world football) were very rare exceptions to the rule.

I think he’s been badly advised. Apart from some dodgy bots on Twitter most fans see him as one of our own and despite him having a poor season most fans still think highly of him. I’m sure the club want him to stay and have made him a lucrative offer. If he goes I’d be disappointed in him as it looks like he can’t hack it after one bad season. If he stays he could be a club legend and it feels a bit sad that’s he’s willing to throw it away. If he goes to a direct rival it’d leave a bad taste. At least Hazard stayed through some difficult times and almost singlehanded dragged us to trophies. He only left to go abroad and fulfill a boyhood dream having become a Chelsea legend. The fact that Mount is apparently leaking to the press that he wants a move to Man United doesn’t sit well with me. I just hope we get some decent money for him at least.

It's all very odd. Even if he did get criticism from his own fans, has he not seen the even worse criticism he gets from all of the rival fans? Every time he puts on an England shirt, you have City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and United fans tearing into him, and those fans are on home soil, not thousands of miles away in a different country.

I can't believe that is the reason he is leaving though. I believe that he is upset about not being offered as good of a deal as a few others at the club. And as I have said before, if this is the case, then buh bye Mount, I feel no sympathy for you. If money is the only motivator that keeps him at the club, despite being a multi millionaire, then I'm not interested.

Another thing it could be though is that he never had any intention of signing a new deal because he doesn't believe we can challenge at the top again. Some may agree and point at Kane signing a new deal with Tottenham as an example, but from a Chelsea fan point of view, it would be seen as cowardly. He is as responsible for the poor performances as anybody this season, so if he is using that as an excuse to leave, then other clubs are welcome to him. It comes across as having no bottle to put things right.

Whatever the reason is, I can't imagine myself having much respect for it.

There's definitely an agent in his ear and I will honestly feel bad for him if his career turns for the worse should end up leaving us for the mentioned reasons.

I hope he stays. So much to offer for years for to come. Saying that, a picture paints a thousand words, and leaving the pitch today probably told us what we all already know.

I have never seen Mount being an elite level player. A very good player but for example in Reece you can see someone who can/will be elite.

Mount doesn't know what his best position is and I think that is a problem. Positional fluidity is an asset but truly elite players are set in a position. You don't see DeBuyne, Salah or Haaland in unnatural positions...

As that Anka-guy said he is the multi-tool and support.

Having said that I absolutely want to keep hold of him.

It was interesting to hear Keane say he wouldn't improve Utd. I'm surprised Utd don't have their own Mount tbh. It would save them a lot of money. All this money they would need to spend this summer, makes zero sense that they would spend so much on Mount. I'm  a Mount fan, but with Nkunku coming in I'm not sure he's as necessary as he would have been.

Apparently he’s heading to Man Utd.

I can’t make my mind up on who to blame. Mount himself or the board. I don’t know.

All I feel is bitter disappointment and I feel Mount has already threw his career away, just like Mata did. He could have become a one club legend, he was already half way there.

I can’t imagine Chelsea without Mount. What a waste.

Sums up my thinking he’s getting some really bad advice. With Pochettino coming up watch us finish ahead of United next season and he probably will get benched far more than he will get game time.
I think whoever is advising him seems to think he’s some sort of game changer and  match winner which he’s not. He’s good player but not someone you build your team around and he certainly won’t  he the focal point at United. He has a better chance of being one of the anchors here than United.

I could see his career turning him into a journeyman player.
