October 28, 20205 yr His reading of the game and composure on the ball is superb in someone so young. He has great passing ability and gets stuck in the tackle. I see him as a defensive midfielder in the Declan Rice position. Hope Sheffield don't get relegated for his sake. He needs to keep his chin up and come back next season with a spring in his step.
October 28, 20205 yr Their fans are raving about him https://www.sheffieldunited.news/opinion/has-ethan-ampadu-just-made-sure-we-wont-see-much-more-of-ollie-norwood/ https://www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?threads/ampadu.82936/

A genuinely top prospect IMO, and exactly the player we need.
October 30, 20205 yr Can Ampadu be called back from Sheffield United in January or is he loaned to them for the full PL season?
October 31, 20205 yr When you read the Sheffield United fans forum and their raving about Ampadu as a ‘must buy’ player and a future superstar. It almost makes it quite sad when you read the contrasting feedback in relation to RLC. I’m excited for Ampadu coming back.
October 31, 20205 yr We don't need to buy Rice, just play Ampadu/Gilmour there and problem solved for years.
November 18, 20205 yr Excellent as usual in Wales' 3-1 win over Finland. Didn't put a foot wrong in centre-mid.
November 19, 20205 yr On 28/10/2020 at 19:07, Andy North said: Quite impressive. Haven't see what the fuss was about whenever I watched him, need to watch again.
December 18, 20205 yr Doesn't seem like hes exciting sheffield united fans as much as we might assume. Conor gallagher probably our strongest loanee at the moment.

Didn't get Ampadu some praise earlier on in the season? The times I remember to check the SU line-up, he wasn't starting, but he must have had a handful of games so far.

But seems he isn't wowing them. Suppose hard for anyone to wow in a team with 1 draw all season

January 28, 20215 yr Is he playing in defence or midfield? I could Google this but... good to keep the discussion alive!

Mostly on the left of their 3 man defence, which for them mean plenty of freedom to bomb forward. He ended up being the one chosen to replace the injured O'Connell.
January 29, 20215 yr The Blades fans wanted shot of him not long ago, but he has really picked up this year and they are raving about him now.

May 3, 20215 yr So, a bit of a hit and miss season for Ethan - but do we think there is a place for him on our squad next year? He is not at the level where he commands a first team place, so the question is, would it be better to have him around as a utility player who can fill in and play a role wherever needed in defence or midfield, or is it better to loan again in the hope he will kick on? Not an easy loan move for a kid, going to the worse team in the league, Brewster has struggled there too. A another loan move would be likely, hopefully in a better team this time. I still like Ampadu, playing 3 at the back gives him a better chance of getting into our team.
May 3, 20215 yr I did like what I saw of Ampadu the few times he played for us, so I’m not writing him off after a season in the worst team of the league and playing a football so primitive. I’d like to see him in a team that plays similar style football to us like Brighton tries. And, if Gilmour is not on TT’s plans for next season (it would be a shame), also a loan to Brighton would be beneficial.
May 3, 20215 yr He's another one like RLC for me ... looks like he should be superb, but no-one really knows what his best position is ... a couple more loans and then sold is what the next 2-3 years have in store most probably ...
May 3, 20215 yr I really like the lad but he doesn't exactly stand out enough to fit the current Chelsea team.
