July 29, 20205 yr Ridiculously overpriced. Having paid more attention to him since we have been linked, he isn’t very quick and never seems to block crosses. He’s not an upgrade on Alonso If we pay above 70m for him, we haven’t learned a thing.
July 29, 20205 yr I really hope we don't sign this bloke ... there are better left backs available for a third of the price
July 29, 20205 yr Ignore him, then offer a cheeky low offer on deadline day when Chilwell caused too much of a fuss at Leicester. Job done.
July 30, 20205 yr not sold on Chilwell at all, and even though it's "Not my money," we do have to operate within a budget. I like Tagliafico from what I've seen of him, but he's also quite short (not a huge deal for a LB). I'm also not sure Ajax would sell us Ziyech and Tagliafico in one window. I do like Telles, and we've got some good defenders from Porto in the past. Chilwell is overpriced, and I think a lot of that has to do with him being English. I don't think we need to be concerned about that part, as we've plenty English players in our team already. If we do focus on LB, I'd rather Telles, then Tagliafico. Selling Emerson should allow us to partially fund either of those players, and still have some money in the transfer kitty to go after a proper CB
July 31, 20205 yr I'd rather we employ a psychologist and footballing coach for Emerson than spunk 70m on Chilwell. For 70m, we might as well sign Tierney or Robertson

Sky Sports says we’ll beat Everton’s offer of £18m and although he is highly rated, Real Madrid need to sell to balance the books. Sounds do-able - it’s just whether we’re comprising on quality. Anyone know anything about him?

He was voted as the best LB in the league this season I believe... admittedly I’ve not seen much of him. I’m surprised Real are willing to sell when you look at his age and the fact he was clearly highly rated this year. Marcelo is 32 now as well so I’d be surprised if they were willing to let him go. Maybe someone with more knowledge of his situation might have a better idea!

August 4, 20205 yr Wouldn’t surprise me if we still signed him, I really doubt it would be 80m. Maybe 40m. We might end up selling Alonso and Emerson, get Chilwell and that Spanish left back in.
August 4, 20205 yr United are supposedly interested too. If that is the case the price will only get more ridiculous. I like Chilwell but not at that price.

Good shout actually, I forgot about that although that would only leave them with one in a couple of years. Maybe this guy is too good to be willing to play backup to Mendy. Like I say I don’t have a clue about him but surely most options are better than Chilwell at 80m.
August 10, 20205 yr While we are taking our time Liverpool have signed Tsimikas as backup to Robertson. Kia is now also trying to Arsenal involved with Reguilion. You have to applaud Liverpool’s moneyball strategy; TAA, Robertson, Tsimikas & Neco for £19.75m is brilliant business. You just know we will end up paying £60m+ for Chiwell.

Tsimikas was a back up to the player they did want from Norwich, I`m sure if we had tried to sign a player but ended up with a cheaper one you wouldnt have minded at all would you.

August 14, 20205 yr He said goodbye and packed his shampoo in the bag: 'off to do a medical in London', he said to the cleaning lady and to the lone security guard. But little did he know, Sméagul had already bought him a train ticket to Hogwarts... Join us next week for another episode of, Pigs in Space.

August 14, 20205 yr I’m seeing a lot of noise on Twitter from various sources that this is very close. Was surprised to see the above tweet saying that the deal is off. Really not sure how I feel about it until we see the fee. Really hope we haven’t spent over £50m on him. Will be even more worried if what we do spend means we have less to spend on at least one quality CB.
