I think he decided to walk away with a draw. For the first 15mins of the 2nd half,  we barely tried moving the ball forward

If that's the case then that makes the decision to keep Rom on even more baffling.

All our other attackers are better than him off the ball.

We had to use him as the outlet to break the press. Werner would have been hopeless in that kind of a situation.

Lukaku was basically fighting against Matip & Van Dijk on his own in the second half and did well given those conditions.

I was confused about that too. Maybe he wanted an aerial presence up top and he wanted to keep a hidden card to see how the match would play out. It was telling when the Chalobah sub was in that he's happier with a draw

Great post-match interview. Very happy with his attitude and personality.

We can beat Liverpool, no question about it.

Yeah I believe that he wanted someone when we came under pressure and had to kick the ball up front that has a presence against Matip and VD. And Lukaku did that decent a few times.

Got the tactics spot on in the second half to make us solid defensively, reacted really well to the sending off and brining on Kova to play out of tight spaces really helped alleviate the pressure. I still think Lukaku should have come off for Timo to give us an outlet, that’s my only small gripe.

Beforehand I felt Alonso being up against Salah and not using Werner and his pace were mistakes.

In the end he got us a good results and missed out on a great one by a real blunder by Reece and some poor choices by our attacking players in the first half, specifically Mount and Lukaku. Though you do have to wonder if Timo would have done better.

Got the defence spot on after the sent off, I'd say he outwitted Klopp again. Going back few months ago we were carved up by WBA after a man down, although HT helped us to recover yesterday, Tuchel reorganized everything brilliantly to close the door on Liverpool. Towards the end, they were just playing for corners, as they had no where to go on the field.  Werner would have been a different challenge to their high line, but Havetz scored his goal, and Mount provided the usual work rate. I'm sure if we had the full 11, Werner would have got on the field at some stage. This game again enhanced Tuchel's reputation as one of the best, everyone from players to recuritment just do what he says and we will be fine

If you compare this 10 man performance at Anfield to last season's there is no comparison. There is more than one factor at work but Tuchel deserves a lot of credit. The game was completely ruined as a spectacle by the sending off. A shame because it was thrilling to watch until that point.

Regardless of what Jose would say TT needs to win just one PL title to be our greatest every manager.

1 title and 1 CL trumps what Jose achieved imo.

Shame he will likely be robbed of it thise season by our piss poor final third decision making and Mendy going to the ACoN.

So we have Jorginho and Kovacic for two spots in our midfield. Apparently Niguez rumours have died down as well. Kante is injured and we don't know when he is available.

Why the f**k are we not fixing this issue?

Niguez is not a DM and similar to RLC / Ross Barkly. Given how in our system we look for a slightly more defensive minded player dont see him as much of an option either.. There are also others like Chalobah, Reece and Ampadu who could do a job.. Or maybe mount drops into the midfield.. i am sure the club is aware of this and have thought of the best solutions for the position.

Ruben is the only player I feel can slot in that spot considering our chase for the title. He is experienced enough. Fielding Ampadu there or even Chalobah for me is a risk and far from optimal. Weird thing is we decided to go with 3 midfielders. We are light in that department to say the least.

Barkley is a player for maybe a more advanced role and he doesn't even have a squad number.

Ruben is our Diaby, we can't really depend on him.

A Chelsea manager not properly backed in the transfer market following a big trophy win?

I feel like I've seen this episode before?

Indeed. It does leave me wondering if this is beginning of the end of this relationship. Given he supposedly really wanted another midfielder and CB our failure to Land them could lead to trouble, it did at Dortmund and PSG with him and you can be sure the media will ask him over and over again about this all season.

I was thinking the same. In theory we didn't need a bunch of new signings if we had kept the likes of Gilmour around. But after letting some of those players leave we run the risk of looking light in certain areas of the squad if we hit some injuries.

Seems that Saul Niguez is coming over here and Tuchel himself said that Chalobah has forced himself into the first team therefore he considers him as a new signing and rightly so. I dont believe Tuchel is unhappy with our transfers. Quality over quantity.

Thank you Captain Obvious.

But we've just won the European Cup and have one of the most promising squads in Europe. We're about as attractive a club that any player would want to sign for.

We wrapped up the Lukaku deal nice and early but went past the transfer deadline to seal a loan signing. And that's the extent of improving our team.

We were outbid for Hakimi and messed around by Sevilla on the Kounde deal.

Now I'm not saying we should just be throwing money around but clearly there was a desire to build on last season's success and I don't think we've capitalised on our position of strength this summer.

We've made more money in player sales than we've invested into the team allowing some extremely talented youth players to go in the process.

We've got previous of not building on a previous success and this summer feels like a missed opportunity.

Don't get me wrong, I still think we have the potential to make a success of this season and I reckon we've got a really good squad of players but there was a chance to do more than we did in terms of transfers.

Kounde I get but would you have tried to bring in further reinforcements as well after Niguez and Lukaku?

I think Saul and Lukaku addressed two critical vulnerabilities and leaves us in a good position myself.
