we are allowed 5 english teams in CL, if an english team win europa and an english team win the CL and they are both out of the top 4, 4th place wont get in....spurs winning europa and liverppol winning CL this season means that 4th postion goes into europa league (because i dont think either of them are getting into top 4)

This is where your argument lost its credibility...

That is really disappointing.  Someone in this Chelsea team needs to grow a pair, or we simply cut our losses in places and buy some strikers who finish.  Ziyech and Pulisic were ineffective, and Chilwell looks scared of his own shadow when get gets the ball.  Odoi and Werner - well, you wouldn't have even know they came on.

Just poor.  We're nearly men.  Every time we give ourselves a chance to solidify top four position, we bottle it.  No one is willing to take responsibility in that team.

Pretty boring game, leeds created far more dangerous chances than us, thank god we have mendy.

I don't know how to say it. Ziyech struggle to play this double 10 role. Puli can only play as lw. We have known this for quite some time, damn I honestly thought we will see

Havertz

Puli - Mount-Ziyech

Kante and chillwell killed so many attacks today. Frustrating

Really pisses me off when I see us breaking, running at Leeds who are stretched, and the  see the likes of kante and chillwell take 5 too many touches and then play it back or sideways.

Momentum killers.

I disagree. Kante won so many aerial balls from corners, and started our attacks so many times. It's the forwards' movements that was terrible. No one dragged the CB's away bar Havertz but then Havertz dropped to midfield for some reason

That is a scoreline I never thought would come again them. They are so offensive and weak defensively.

Not a good enough result, having done so well against tougher foes this is a bit like back to southampton and Wolves. Poorer opponents we should beat and we just do not step up.

Still unbeaten in 12 games. We keep this up and top 4 should be sorted.

Need to win vs Arsenal, Leicester and West Ham though for sure...

It's weird because everybody seems to be praising Kante's performance, but I thought he was very poor going forward. His passes may have successfully reached their man more often than not, but they weren't clean passes. They were often played too far infront or behind the player he was passing to. His touch at times was poor too forcing him to overrun the ball and make things scrappy.

sigh... that makes it really difficult for top four with our scoring record. Bit of a poisoned chalice to be asking to support either West Ham or United... neither... going to ignore the game.

Can I admit I got really excited yesterday about reading sarri might be going to Napoli and is interested in taking Jorginho with him?

Jorgi is too fancy football-wise to my liking. He would absolutely unnecessarily  over elaborate the simplest ball handling and more often than not f**k it up. Would not miss him at all if he goes.

I think the criticisms for Ziyech were harsh. He created our best chances. It was weak finishing that cost us today.

You are right. He was better than he has been. I was just so angry and frustrated. This was a game we definitely should have won. I think that ManCity game will be the only one where we can afford to drop points this season.

Grealish slows the game down too much because he spends so much time on the floor.

That is also true but infuriating as it is, he's capable of moments of magic.

Leeds let him have the ball. Many teams do it. And he can’t create anything, so it works. Looks good watching, as it appears he’s getting into space and driving forward, but it’s by design of the opposition.

I agree. I don't know how others aren't seeing this. I don't think that was a very good performance at all from Kante today. Swap him for Kovacic and I feel Kovacic makes more of the space given to him.

Yes, it becomes an issue then, but at this moment, I am more concerned with the teams currently behind us. 4th seems the absolute best we can achieve this season, I don't think the squad has it in them to out perform Leicester and United consistently.

my point is 4th isn't necessarily 'safe' for the CL if we want to guarantee CL next season we need to finish in the top 3 somehow.

having said that 4th is probably good enough.

of course i'm not discounting us winning CL and costing Everton a European slot just to piss off my father in law

Sadly, we have no creativity in midfield unless its Kante, Mount and Havertz. Thats the best "three" imo

300 million pounds worth of attacking talent today on that pitch who have signed for the club against a squad who cost 60.... Bad day at the office.

Enjoyable 0-0 byt again frustrating in the final third.

Thought we looked the better team and yet Leeds always dangerous and they created the better chances. Can see why they are the neutrals favourite as they are good to watch. Was hoping they would tire and our quality from the bench would make the difference but it just didn't happen. We need a striker who can find the back of the net.

Pretty sure we saved Kovacic for Atletico, sadly the players involved here couldn't do the job and just score against a team that doesn't really care about having clean sheets at all. I thought this would be our perfect opponent but then Tuchel changed the formation and our players struggled to shake off any player in a 1v1, we just didn't really show up today despite the fair amount of shots on target.

No question. Even Kovacic in for Jorginho would have been better. Jorginho was completely nullified today, which is why Kante was always getting the ball. With Kovacic in, he can go by the press where Jorginho couldn’t, and then we’ve got more options.

obviously its not going to happen but it is a possibility and I just wanted to prove someone else wrong who said the rules changed and 4th is now safe for a CL spot....it briefly made me feel good about myself being able to correct someone but you just had to stick your nose in didn't ya

It's the old problem of "midfield balance" again.

I still maintain that, if we expect to have the majority of the possession, there is only space for one of Jorginho or Kante in our team. If you play both, you simply don't have enough threat from midfield in the opponent's half. Today, it looked like Kante was the one tasked with going forward, and he got into several promising positions and simply didn't have a clue what to do next.
