December 8, 20214 yr Some good news on Trev, hopefully back for Everton: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10284055/Chelsea-star-Trevoh-Chalobahs-hamstring-injury-not-initially-feared.html?fbclid=IwAR1R81j1IC_UPWE4k3YVcdhIwhSzahygS8IL07rfmVFiPl4rpHDAfwN2c2o
December 22, 20214 yr ready made successor to Silva right here. Hard to think he’s only half way through his first premiership season! i wonder what he’d be like in a back 4 with Rudi alongside him.
December 22, 20214 yr Is it too early to call him a club legend? I can’t really think of a mistake that he has made. Fantastic how he has just slotted in. Imagine if he hadn’t broken through this season? We would have struggled.

Silva himself called him the future of our club, and he used to play the middle of the back 3 often for the youth side. Could well be he moves in to the middle if we sign Kounde and he slots to the right side. Then that just leave who replaces Toni, maybe Levi Colwill will fulfill his promise here. Or maybe we go to a back 4 with Trev and Kounde. Edited December 22, 20214 yr by axman2526

Honestly at the start of the season I didn't see much more than a squad player in him (which was still no disgrace) but in recent weeks not only his performances but how we've fared without him has given me serious food for thought. Still early days but seems more comfortable playing a lead role than Christensen.
December 23, 20214 yr Thought he played well and looked like a leader in defence. Have seen his confidence grow since his debut and he has an air of calm around him on the ball. Hopefully he can keep improving and become a Chelsea stalwart in the future.

He’s still young though, if he’s shown no improvement by the end of next season then I’d start to worry.

Ones that don't lead to goals tend to be missed easier. Far as I remember his have not led to a goal so far. Whereas if a keeper makes an error, or a striker misses a sitter, it stands out more. Or ones like Jorgi against United.
January 2, 20224 yr Said to me dad yesterday, Chalobah has been making sloppy mistakes with his head a lot, heading straight to the opposition, poor clearances. So not surprised at all about that mistake, it's been coming.

Still hasn't been on a losing side this season ... :-)
January 2, 20224 yr We dont need Kounde we got Chalobah! He recovered well from his 2 mistakes. He has been poor in recent games though.

He is good cover, but with the amount of defenders leaving i think Kounde is must buy tbh. Liverpool pushed down his side rather use TAA and Salah against Alonso. Speaks volumes.

I was mocking what fans were saying in the summer and this season that we didn't need Kounde because of Chalobah. I personally think Kounde is a level above Chalobah but i dont need to compare them when they can play in the same team.

If we are committing to him as our number one central defensive target I'd rather we pushed for him now rather than wait till the summer. Gives him half a season to adapt.
January 2, 20224 yr Bad mistake. Redeemed himself with some great tackles. Nobody wants to see mistakes that change games, but credit to how he recovered, and despite some nerves (which settled), he never stopped giving 110%.
January 2, 20224 yr Yeah match thread people blasting him saying not good enough for a couple of mistakes against 2 of the best in the world. Have a word with yourselves people. He recovered well and has been superb for us.

He's good enough to play as a squad player, but I don't think he is good enough to be regular, not yet, especially in these big crunch games. I don't think this is being too harsh, it's just a reality of where he is with his development right now.

January 2, 20224 yr He’s been great this season. He’s been battling through injuries and went off again today. A lot of our players have been making mistakes because they’re tired, playing through injuries with no recovery time and exhausted. It happens. We don’t need to go overboard.

Agree 100 percent the amount of mistakes I’ve seen our centre halves make over the years(especially since we became ‘huge’).Even the mighty Silva has made some errors that led to goals, I don’t think he’s 100 percent fit btw though that doesn’t mitigate his errors. He’s got a little bully in him as well which I like and can’t see him getting worse over the coming seasons. A great find for us.
January 3, 20224 yr He just isn’t good enough right now to be starting for us, we need to sign a CB this month
January 3, 20224 yr https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2022/1/2/22864194/trevoh-chalobah-suffers-hamstring-injury-in-chelseas-2-2-draw-against-liverpool-report Played with injury, risked it for the team and injured his hamstring.
January 3, 20224 yr He made some mistakes early on today, and we were punished for one of them. However I was impressed with the way that he showed character and recovered after a bad start. He made some key challenges to break down several dangerous attacks from Liverpool. Many young players would have crumbled under the pressure after such a bad start, but he kept going. Hopefully his injury isn't too serious.

I think he has been good too, but I don't think he has been so good that he would be able to start 40 games a season and have us competing in the league and Champions League. He's not ready for that yet.
