Trevoh Chalobah

I agree. If we persist of playing with wingbacks even when James is injured than Chalobah would do much better than loftus cheek, mount, sterling or whoever else we tried there. Chalobah has pace, good at passing, strength and most importantly he doesn't stay stagnant watching the ball.

Problem is though who do you play as your 3 CD since fofana is injured and Silva cant play every match! Hence why it baffles me that we still persist in playing with 3 at the back, often becoming 5! That is a small team mentality in my opinion and terrible to watch.

Well said. IMO it’s managers hiding behind  that formation. We have seen Porter use a back 4, and it works. Find it baffling he reverts to a back 5 when we are missing key pieces in defence.
Good call on Chalobah as a RB, Pep, Arteta & Klopp are using CBs effectively as fullbacks in a back 4, even Xavi used Marcos Alonso brilliantly as a CB in a back just a few days ago.

Great performance but sadly both him and Thiago Silva fell asleep and we conceded which puts a stain on this evening.

Casemiro was not on his side, was on Chilwell and Silva to deal with it.

But that won't stop the hatters blaming Trev for us dropping two points.

Both of them did nothing there, Chiwell was against 2 players on the far post, poor defending overall.

Him and Kepa were let down by everyone else that started today.

should have pulled the 3 points over the line

but from the first 35 minutes i would have taken a draw

As we should have against Spurs. It is just not good enough. Where is the leadership and the desire to protect a lead? Lamps, JT, Ballack et al would not of stood for this.

His best performance. Haven't dissected the goal, God knows how we always give these free headers away in stoppage time. Have to blame the defense. Was great in the 90 though

Extraordinary really. He was our best defender and often our best midfielder too. Deservedly MOTM.

He played for 2 season as a DM, he would be our answer in that position if someone trusted him there and, as importantly, we had the options in the back to play without him as a defender.

This one I called right. I said before he kicked a ball for the first team he would be a very good player for us.

I never said he would be at the level of JT. Just a really good player with a lot of upside. Leadership, strength, heading ability, passing, good attitude and flexibility.

Some of those interceptions today and the positional sense you can see he is learning from Silva.

Hopefully Potter does not pull a TT and forget about him when his other defenders are fit.

Let's have some application for trev. He has kept his head down this whole time, no complaints, whenever he gets a chance he gives his all and has a great attitude.

Clearly the best player for us against United.

He has to keep his name in the starting lineup as long as he can, he looks good, confident and doing very well defensively.

He's still young player, playing for the club he grew up in, so he will always put his best no matter what. He deserves all the good!

Keep it up Trev!

I'd certainly be willing to give him a shot ahead of Jorginho in front of the defence but it would need to be done in a few 'lesser' games first as impatient fans would turn quickly if it didn't work out in tougher league games.

If we can secure CL qualification o  Tuesday then it would be an option  for the final group game.

Brilliant defender. Has really knuckled down and cut out the mistakes. It’s a reminder that over the course of a season, you need dependable squad players, which he has become.

Isn't it amazing what you can get for £35K a week (assuming internet sources are accurate) ?

Koulibaly £295K a week ... James £250K a week ... Fofana £200K a week ... Chilwell £190K a week ... Azpilicueta £180K a week ... Cucurella £175K a week ... Thiago Silva £110K a week ... Chalobah £35K a week ...

Got to admit I wasn't one of Trevors admirers, but I have to eat my words and agree he is turning out a very good player for us,maybe Silva has helped him out grately but he deserves the credit for learning from the master so quickly.

Really wanted Colwill to stay and learn from Silva, how can you not pick up things from such a player if you actually want to learn and perfect your craft?

Trev ain't finished developing yet, still got plenty of professional growth.

Way things are panning out there would've been a good chance he would've got plenty of game time over Koulibaly as well.

Shame. Once an agent gets in your ear, its over. Is he even getting minutes at Brighton?

Given the times we we seen Cucurella start at LCB I really do believe he would have played more here than at Brighton, where he is not seeing any game time and that loan is looking even more pointless than Gilmours to Norwich.
