Conor Gallagher

Featured Replies

Brighton need midfielders (Mac Allister gone, Caicedo potentially leaving) and yet they are not remotely interested in Gallagher being part of any deal for Caicedo.

That should tell you all you need to know about Gallagher.

Has some qualities for sure, but it is mainly only teams in the bottom half who are interested ... (Everton, West Ham, Palace etc etc)

Being pushed out assume to raise funds to pay Brighton their asking price.

Rejected 37.5 mill from Pikeys holding out for 40 +, lets assume they get 45.

Mason Mount  55 mill quid, RLC 15 + 45 = 115 mill pounds pure profit.

They'd flog Trev & Colwill if it weren't for Fofana ACL and the manager putting his foot down.

Reckon with this threadbare inexperienced midfield he may be useful to keep around, if he's not contributed sell him in January, he will hold his value.

Or a case of whether he has a role to play. As has been pointed out, lacks the fine skills to play forward where we have abundant specialists anyway. Lacks the discipline and control to play deep. He will run himself into the ground, which is a terrific attribute, but as someone else sagely pointed out, a square peg in a round hole.

Plus Brighton have a very talented midfielder, much more talented than Gallagher, formerly of this parish.

It might be Pochettino wants us to secure Kudus first, or Olise, or Cherki, before he rubber stamps Gallaghers move.

In any case we apparently told West Ham we want a deal worth 50mill.

Quite so ... Billy G is a good passer and suits the possession football that Brighton play. Conor is a mile off for that - he's much better playing for a side that doesn't have the ball much, so then his running about, pressing, tactical fouling and ball-winning qualities are of much more value.

No top side with aspirations to win titles and trophies is playing like that though.

Selling Conor to Tottenham is a scene from a nightmare.

This should be the clincher.

Although I admit it's just the idea of selling another academy player that hurts, it's not Gallagher's talents. And the headless chicken does chip in with the odd goal...

Oh, I don't know!

I'm not against selling him. But we can't sell him when we have so few options in CM. Not unless we've decided both Santos and Cacidae are in the first team this year.

He is class far better than Mount….. we need to keep him, his best years are ahead of him and I am convinced that Pochettino will bring out the best in him

I know we're all annoyed with the way Mount left but that's a crazy comment to make haha

Why is that a crazy comment ?  lets discount last season no one played well including the two of them.  The season before he was outstanding for Chrystal Palace, I would argue one of the best in the league.

And yes I am very bitter about MM 😀

Conor was good for the first half of the season for Palace, but it went under the radar that the second half of the season was very average, which is what has continued at Chelsea.

Worth remembering that in his time at the top with Palace and back with us Gallagher has played under five different managers. Not exactly a stable platform to develop under. I absolutely think it is worth keeping him around this season with a manager who clearly wants to work with him. Confidence in him as a player from a manager will hopefully lead him into double figures with goals or assists. He is more than capable. Just got to knuckle down and deliver.

f**kin hell, this forum is so "sell happy." I'm not fully convinced by many of last years signings, we don't need to firewall known commodities like Gallagher.

Are we supposed to be debating this issue? Maybe this is why one of our legends- Didier Drogba said he cannot recognize us again. Conor Gallagher was never an explosive talent. Growing up in the Chelsea academy doesn't mean you will always be a good player.

Many players enrol in the academy and that doesn't mean they will be able to make the Chelsea squad. He was sent on loan to Crystal Palace, he scored some goals, but that doesn't still mean that he is good enough for us.

When he came back to us, it was clear that he wasn't good enough for us. We need to sell some players now and really build a good team, and some fans are still saying we should not sell him. Are we going to continue to use him and allow him to continue to lose possession in the midfield and make us concede goals next season again?

Do we want to finish 12th in the league like last season again? I saw some fans saying nobody played well last season, Did Enzo Fernandes not play well last season? If you are a good player, everybody will see it. Gallagher is not good enough.

.

So you want a squad of only amazing first choice players, good luck with that.

Even in Drogbas days we had squad players, players like Chalobah and Gallagher to call upon when needed, players who at least want to dig in and put in effort, fight for a club they grew up with, rather than players bought in who couldn't give a sh*t.

Apparently Conor turned down Spurs and West Ham and wants to stay and fight for his place under Pochettino.

that's the sort of spirit that's been missing from our squad.

Sure, we'll find out if Conor G is good enough this season, I hope he steps up and silences the doubting Thomas' on here simply because it will save us a fortune and we don't have to try the largely untested Caciedo. Good player but just not worth 100 million by anyone imagination. Perhaps Caceido is rated simply because of the freedom Billy G gives him?

the most important aspect to Conor G is he's turned down the trash at white sh*t lane. Good lad.

Good news, much rather have a squad of players willing to fight for their place.

I thought this was the Gallagher thread - did you not realise we sold Jorginho last season and Kovacic this season (players who regularly cost us goals)?

Gallagher is a decent squad player who will always give 100% and will contribute to the goal tally. More than happy to have him.

Ey? Gilmour barely played for Brighton and if he did it would been Caicedo's game allowing him freedom not the other way round.
