DKW is right. Proof of the pudding will be this window.

If Gallagher is sold, along with the rumors of Broja, Chalobah, Maatsen and Madueke, then we wil know it is true and we are concerned about our FFP.

So let's see who is here, and who is not, on February 1st.

No secret I have no faith or belief in these owners but I will hold fire and see if they have learned something for this window and do what is best for Chelsea, or what is best for their pockets.

5 homegrown players out in a single window, only incompetent owners would do such a thing 😬

At least the women's team still has an identity, but then they'll get their claws into that when Emma goes no doubt!

Why would you say such horrible things?

Too right, that would never happen to us :laugh2:

I can get all misty eyed about homegrown and academy players as good as the next fan, but most of these 5 are in all honesty a pretty average bunch.

Gallagher's having a good season in the context of a mid-table side, but with half of it gone he still has zero goals. Is he a player you want as a starter if you want to win titles ? Probably not. Doesn't seem much interest in him from the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Bayern, Inter, Juventus, Man City etc etc etc, and there is a reason for that.

Chalobah is clearly out of favour with Pochettino. It happens ... if he hasn't established himself at 24 then it's probably time to move on.

Maatsen is not good enough for the PL (as discussed in multiple threads)

Broja is a bit of an enigma. The "idea" of Broja (tall, fast, good technique etc etc) is far superior to the actual reality of what we see on the pitch. We can do much better !

Madueke has potential, and is the only one of the 5 I'd be disappointed to see sold right now.

I agree with this.. The only thing is galllagher is ranked 1 for everything like interceptions and blocks in the team so is clearly our best midfielder but has no goals/assists and if caicedo cost us 125M then gallagher should be 90M minimum especially to a PL rival

If he’s sold fans should really let the owners hear about it not that I think they would care anyway:

Seeing this doing the rounds. In my opinion the only metrics that we can really take from this are his chance creation and interceptions.

Even if you don't fancy Gallagher you can't ignore the improvement.

Should not be sold

Not top tier,  but we will always need hard workers who can do a job. Question is if he fancies a bench role in the future, and a commensurate salary

The question is, do you keep a mediocre "hard worker" when you can get £50m for him and buy someone who is above mediocre?

On the other hand who at the club do you trust with 50 million to buy "someone who is above mediocre"? The club is just as likely to buy another Gallagher as the next Kevin De Bruyne.

ETA I think Conor is well above mediocre myself.

Question is if he were a Brighton player would 50mill be his price? I don't think so.

That is a lowball price, Cucurella cost more.

Ever present, captain. Top sides apparently interested. English tax. Sorry anything less that 80mill is us just being desperate.

I agree. A mediocre player doesn't end up in the highest percentile in both the team/league in big chances created and interceptions.

We replaced Havertz with Palmer and subsequently Mount with Carney. Both of which have looked to be long term positives. If push comes to shove and we do sell Gallagher, I'd like to think we can replace him adequately.

I honestly don't think we'd even replace him tbh.

I imagine what the club are thinking is, if they can raise £100m by selling Conor, Trev, Broja and Maatsen…and it allows us to buy a TOP striker I.e Osihman, would the fans accept that?

I don’t want Conor sold, I really don’t…but I do feel that he is replaceable.

According to fans earlier on the thread, he's sh*t and not worth a spot in the team. I say 1 billion spent on players and a homegrown talent is holding the side together. Kudos to the guy.

Maybe for a time, longer if the striker actually turns out to be a top striker. Confident that will happen?

How did you feel after 16 months of Lampard? did you also think he was replaceable? I'd be proper grumpy if this guy was sold. It would be suicide trying to build something.

Very small chance the owners will spend big on a top striker and pay the high salary, more likely we will get another 21 year old with promises ( according to scouts who found us Mudryk and Jackson) who's willing to sign a long deal. Gallagher as a player is replaceable, his characters will be difficult to replace. You can buy a player who could pass better, but you can't make him work harder or willing to fight when the odds are not in his favour.

Can Alfie Gilchrist play central midfield ? 🙂

For all the geniuses on here calling him mediocre.. please find me a better 23 year old playing in the same position.  As for goals and assists they will come .. he has a good shot and gets into good positions.. he has also improved his final ball..

he should be an untouchable at this point.. he is only 23 - Mudryk , Jackson , Broja, Caicedo, Enzo, broja, Badiashille all will be 23 in 6 months. Why is it that we are willing to be patient with them and think they will improve to be top top players but not Conor.. despite he is probably showing the most improvement.

I just think people build a narrative on a player and then get blinded by it.. I thought CG was sh*te last year and wanted him gone.. but I am very happy to be proven so wrong.. he is an amazing player and we should be happy and consider ourselves lucky to have him here..

Liverpool won the lot with Henderson their Captain. People said he wasn’t good enough but he drove them forward and worked harder than anyone else.

Gallagher for me is a better player than Henderson. He’s improving all the time.
It’s not always just about ability putting together a team. He needs to add goals but he’s winning me over.
