Conor Gallagher

Featured Replies

Whether you think Conor is good or not is irrelevant.

He will be sold not for football reasons but for financial reasons.

If we had the greatest player in the league and he was from our academy, he's up for sale.

That's what should concern every Chelsea fan.

We've gone from a top 4 club to a mid table selling club

If this were true we'd have sold Colwill last season when Liverpool and others were in for him for £40m. There's also zero chance we'd sell Reece James either even if he was at his best and rated at £80m. Rightly or wrongly Gallagher is seen as somebody who's dispensable, we aren't selling anybody we don't want to sell so, respectfully, this is basically just alarmist tripe.

On a personal note I would love Gallagher to stay as a squad player, but the way the stupid profit and sustainability rules that the premier league have conjured up work makes it unworkable for a £45m-£50m player from the academy to be a squad player. They're either integral to the team (Reece and Colwill) or they're available. If the rules made more sense then we'd probably keep him but unfortunately currently stuck with them.

I like Gallagher but Christ almighty we aren’t selling Eden Hazard mate.

In what world is Reece and Colwill more integral to the team than Conor? They certainly aren't if we are talking about our current team.

And i'll add this: All season we've basically suffered with a non-functioning Caicedo-Enzo midfield. Due to injuries and other circumstances Caicedo have been able to partner with Gallagher a couple of times lately and they have as a pair shown genuine promise and the midfield have looked a whole lot better with them two than the beforementioned duo. I am going to predict that Caicedo and Gallagher wins us tonights game as well.

So if we now, after a much needed sliver of hope have appeared decide to sell Gallagher then the club is ran by idiots.

I'd prefer to sell Enzo, BUT the board are intent on selling Connor, i wanted him gone earlier on but he has been very good for last 3 months, makes no difference what the supporters have planned tonight, it looks like he will go at the end of the season, (whoever stumps up 50+ before June 30)

Well yeah I'm obviously not talking about this season given they've both been injured for most of it. Reece when he's fit is one of the best RBs in the world and Colwill when he's fit is thought of as one of the most promising CBs in the world. The reality with Conor is he's obviously a good player but he's a starter at a mid table club and a squad player at a top club wanting to challenge for trophies.

I'm not meaning to talk down how important Conor has been for us this season but if we had Lavia and Nkunku fit all season would he have been a starter? Probably not. Would we be in a better position than we are now? Probably yes. As I said, I want Conor to stay if we can make it work financially and he's happy to be a squad player for us, but if we get offered £50m for him I wouldn't blame the club for selling even though I would be pretty gutted about it.

You missed my point Sconnie. It's not about how good any player  is, our owners are selling them if there's profit in it .

That's the issue with the owners, our Academy is being used to offset spending on bang average players.

( None of em are Messi either)

Come on you BLUES!

It's not the same though. Colwill has potential to become one of the best CB's of his generation. If by the age of 23 he becomes the player we hope he will be, he will be worth double that £40m. I don't see Gallagher doubling his value in a few years time, so I think the owners will take the money now.

I think Chalobah is the same. I personally rate him higher than both Badiashile and Disasi, but I feel like he will be sold because it's unlikely that his value will increase in the future.

We're not selling players that we've bought, only because we can't make a profit from any of them. There's plenty of players out there that could go for not being good enough.

We ARE selling Academy players only because we CAN make a profit from them. Our outlandish spending got us here, how many other clubs are selling off academy players just to comply with the rules?

My point is that it's nothing to do with a player's worth on the football pitch . I don't know why it's "alarmist tripe ' it's true. ( I think!)

Don't care for Redknapp but he's spoken very well and sensibly about Connor. You just don't sell such a player for financial fair play reasons.

They're the type you say let's give something back to the fans who love him and keep him as a Chelsea boy.

Like that lovely banner said...... Chelsea from birth.

Those are the players that will show other players that are basically imports what it means to wear that shirt.

Imagine Gallagher in a spurs shirt at the bridge next year 🤑I don't care how much pure profits the club makes, it's just absurd, and makes worse than a Brighton ( a club the owners trying to model ourselves on) or Southampton. If those clowns didn't throw money at random unknown wonder kids ( in the making), we would have easily kept 50-60M in the bank, instead of trying to sell established home grown players.

The club would need to find other ways to bring in profit.

Hall and Maatsen could bring in £70m. Broja maybe £5-10m.

Other than that I'm not sure. Don't want Chalobah leaving either.

Hall is a set fee of 28mill.

Maatsens release clause is 35mill. Dortmund want to keep him but at a discount. Up to Bayern to bid the 35mill or maybe they will just match Dortmund.

Trev will fetch around 25mill, top offer last summer from Forest.

So along with Broja probably around 88mill. Need more, and that's where Conor comes in sadly...

In the recent run of games he has proven that he can work very well in a pivot, not just as this seek and destroy nr 10 role he has done so well under Poch.
I can understand the club has doubted whether he has been worthy of a big new contract, also meaning we will have to scramble to sell someone else to stay financially within the rules.
Now, there can no longer be any doubt and there is just no way Conor can leave.

The little leadership we have had this season has come from him and Thiago - with the latter leaving Conors importance to us has just increased even more

I dont think there’s a way we escape selling someone we dont want to sell, (well, in addition to Maatsen, Hall and Chalobah!) but Conor has for me become untouchable alongside Palmer and Gusto

Absolutely

Keown on the radio said Conor sets the tone and attitude for the team, I reckon that's spot on and something that we need at our club with a load of young players.

Well now that he has finally had two good games in a row we might be lucky and recoup the £60 million for the poodle. That plus the £70 million we will get when Sterling moves to Al Hilal, we should be golden.

His great performances of late have probably not been lost on Todd & his Clearfake chums, likely the decision to flog him was taken in January and is part of their get out of jail FFP plan for this season. Shame because even though he’s not a world class midfielder he’s very well suited to and produces more for this current Chelsea team than Enzo is and does. Enzo won’t be moved on for obvious reasons. Conor has become as good as Mount so hopefully that tight wad Levy has to pay a decent fee.

For me Gallagher is better at what he does than Mount is at what he does.

If they complete the rumoured Osimhen deal for Lukaku and Casadei plus cash, I am assuming the grossed up book values of the sales would come fully into this year's figures and the full Osimhen fee would be amortised. So there could be a further 50m incoming now there. Maybe if Sterling took the Saudi bag as well.

Again Europe could be key here. Those chokes to Burnley and Sheffield Utd look more expensive with each passing week.
