Chelsea v Man Utd (PL) Sun 28th Nov 2021 16:30 GMT

CHO has tunnel vision-ed himself.

Alonso won't last 10 games with our high intensity style

Ruben's head is not in it.

Ziyech has been trying but his final passes are eye in the needle stuff, extremely hard to pull off.

We can do this. We just can't let Utd off in the 2nd half. Ronaldo is that much of a threat.

A nil nil battering so far.

United are a mess. No excuses if we don't win this.

Especially when Ronaldo is on the bench and their next best player Bruno is wasted as a false 9.

Has to be said I can see the argument for both sides. Some teams like Norwich say they do not change their playing style and philosophy just because they play a team of far superior quality. Then there are teams like Burnley and United that play for the scoreless draw, maybe a set piece to nick a result. Both strategies are valid to avoid a relegation and if you have a little hot streak from your goalie or strikers, suddenly you are sniffing around the EuropaLeague spots.

Pretty much the game I expected so far. Knew we'd struggle to break them down, despite them shipping goals for fun against everyone else. Just seems to happen with them lately.

I'd take Werner off soon, he's just not involved.

CHO being stingy might have cost us being 2 ahead already. When it's scoreless no need for trying to go all on your own for it, especially when there are free players on better positions.

Hold on, are you certain Werner would have scored?

If we drop points in this game it would be on CHO. Around the 5th minute all he had to do is to square the ball for Werner and it would have been 1:0.  It's infuriating how greedy and selfish(or stupid) some players are.

With what he has shown to date in terms of finishing, I don't think for one second that you can automatically assume Werner would have scored had CHO passed.

We'ave bossed it but are lacking a cutting edge.

At least we have plenty of attacking options on the bench. Just a case of TT making the right changes and not leaving it too late.

COME ON THE CHELS!!!

I can’t deny that crossed my mind. I like it when someone quotes it later after we win 3-0 and calls me a c#@t (but Yorkley isn’t around still is he?)

I’m more than happy to start calling people c**ts but I’d need @Mod Stark to issue me with a written letter of exemption as I’m pretty sure this was a big catalyst for Yorkers being banned.

Werner was covered in the first half .. I would expect my forward to score that finish…

second one Werner made the absolute wrong run.. running towards the ball amd getting the defender toward goal instead of stretching and opening up a gap..

Take Alonso off, play CHO wing back, put Pulisic on.

I suspect Pulisic will come on for Ziyech if anything. Will be surprised if Tuchel takes off Alonso in this game, unless he is injured.

Not impressed with that half at all. We are very poor in attack, wasted two great chances and too many players aren't doing enough.  Loftus-Cheek hasn't imposed himself on the game at all, all of a sudden he looks scared to take risks. Werner has been awful, his movement in the box has been terrible and he hasn't troubled United's defence at all. Alonso is slowing down our attacks, Ziyech's general player has been poor and James can't find space.

Everything is happening too slow and the chances we do have are wasted.

It is quite something that we can put in what was probably the most dominant display I have ever seen from a Chelsea side against a Man Utd side and still come out of it feeling disappointed. A real sign of the extent to which Tuchel has raised our standards over the past year. Plus this has been without our captain, our first-choice left-back, our best centre mid, our best attacking mid, our 'generational' talent, and our star striker.

Saying that, this will be a disappointment if we don't score. If Carrick's approach versus Villarreal was anything to go by, we will likely see a couple of attacking players (presumably Ronaldo will be one of them) come off the bench at around 65-70 minutes (assuming we don't go ahead before that). I wasn't convinced that Werner was the best option to start this game and the first half seems to have shown that to be true. If we continue to be frustrated in front of goal, I would expect to see him replaced by one of Havertz or Lukaku within the first 15-20 minutes of the second half.

I have no problem with him taking the first chance, but he has to bury it. The second chance he should have played Werner in.

Not certain but a free player is always a better bet than a player at a tight angle and with a good keeper in front. Also cutting ball across that way ends up a goal more times than the player at attempting to score from an angle.

Not quite same angles but 2 mins in yesterday could Robertson have taken a shot at goal? Yes. He cut it back across for Jota's first and a goal that early set the scene.

Sadly though, I fear I’m going to be right today. It was inevitable that United would make some manner of improvement for this game, even if it is just being less sieve like. Add that to our cows arse and banjo finishing and there you go.

Nonononononono! No.

So no. I forbid it.

Some poor decision making in the box is all that’s stopped us going comfortably ahead. We’re playing quite well overall, and Utd will be delighted if their luck holds and they can leave with a draw. I feel like Pulisic definitely has to come on if we don’t score soon, he offers a great goal-threat when he’s on form.
