We did create chances for him. He keeps missing them.

Yep, 2 great chance in the 1st half and another in the 2nd that a top striker would have made something out of.

Good news. It's always nice to beat Spurs. Hopefully that will give us confidence going into a City match.

Bad news. Lukaku is dogsh*t. I always knew he had trouble holding up the ball, passing or dribbling but I was under the impression that he was supposedly good at scoring goals. When he doesn't score he's completely useless.

Don't care how much he cost or his ego, he simply doesn't deliver in these big games , he never has and likely never will at this point, so he shouldn't start in them. Even with the lack of goals from Havertz and Werner, I would rather start with them up top in these games. It's just so frustrating that the club thought Lukaku was the answer.

For a contest we absolutely dominated - possession stats close to 60% .. how many clear cut chances do we remember for our forward line? Infact spurs created more than us.. You can level the same against any of attackers..i find it very strange that we struggle so much to create and forwards to score consistently so much.. Lukaku even on his bad days is a good finisher... we hardly create one or two chances for our entire forward line and bemoan they arent clinical.. The fact is all forwards miss easy chances.. ours become glaring because of so little we create.

Job done. But not really impressed today. City will kill us if we play this way.

Fair comments. Tuchel in his post-match interview said it was not a good performance. But it's the result that mattered.

My opinion of him isn't just based on this performance. he's been poor for most of the season. I was against us signing him and was confident we'd regret it because I never rated him as a player. Why people in charge thought spending a fortune on that donkey was a good idea is anybody's guess.

The Big issue stilk is Strikers scoring, can definitely see Borja being a fixture in our squad next season, he already looks less rushed than big Rom, who tends to morph into a Heskey/Flo type Donkey style striker, as for Werner ship him out or give him the wide left berth.

As for Rudiger pay him 250k a week, it’ll cost way more in a replacement, Say Kounde +wages, players player, straight outbid the JT mould, make him Captain as well...

If we sold him tomorrow I don't think we would get back half the money we paid for Werner. Not sure he can even spell goal let alone score one.  His first touch is wildly erratic. He relies solely on pace. I think we are stuck with him.

Never thought I’d see Anthony Taylor’s status as the most incompetent referee be threatened…but take a bow Andre Marriner. One of the worst displays from a match official I’ve ever seen. Thank goodness VAR was being used or we would have got well and truly fcuked over.

can’t believe how easy that semi was…it was so easy we got sloppy…almost as if we wanted more of a challenge.

Sad thing is, most of us fans knew before we signed him that he was a big game bottler, a good season in the walking football league of Italy doesn’t change it, how could the board be so stupid, o wait a minute it’s the Chelsea board mistakes are a regular thing over the years

Regarding the last bit, that's the frustrating thing I thought we sorted the recruitment side of it out.

Okay the likes of Ziyech and Werner haven't worked out as planned but we were still identifying suitable profile of player's for the possession based style we've been implementing ever since Conte has left and because of that they've had their uses despite underwhelming.

Lukaku is literally the athesis of what we've been trying to build the last few years.

But we did create chances. Lukaku had 3 excellent chances to score, he just didn't take them. How many chances does he want before he scores? because in England, 3 chances for your striker is usually really good. Also, Tottenham didn't create more than us, their shots were just hit and hope.

All these excuses about not having the chances to score, 90 minutes play time is enough chance for some.....

What about James v Brighton was that a chance ?......

Quite impressive from Marriner really. He managed to make both sides go home from the game feeling like the matchday officials had screwed them over. It's especially impressive considering VAR got all of the decisions right.

I thought Mount had an off day today. His work rate was as good as ever, but his decision making and passing was poor.

Probably the worst game I've seen Mount play in a long time. He looked out of sorts - maybe carrying a knock?  Practically everything he tried tonight (bar the corner), failed to come off and he looked a bit sluggish.

All players have games like that now & again - hope he is back at it if selected for City.

Unbelievable wasn't it.

It was so comfortable and yet we got a little sloppy and Marriner tries to single handedly get Spurs back in the tie. I HATE VAR but am thankful for it last night. With no VAR we could have been looking at a Kane hat-trck and Spurs going on to win on penalties. Shocking display from the ref in a match (whole tie) where we never looked remotely in any trouble.

Watch this at 4:30 you can see that Jorginho and the ref basically have the same sight on the tackle and yet Jorgi is so convinced that it wasn't a pen yet the ref thinks otherwise.
The problem with the current rules is that if the ref wants to spice things up he can make a false decision and hope that VAR deems it not obvious which is a subjective opinion from the human.

Mase has been very out of sorts for a while now, hopefully he'll rediscover some form soon.
