September 15, 20223 yr Don't even think he was that bad, we've been training under Potter for about a week. Not going to expect him to score a hat trick.

October 6, 20223 yr Scored again last night though Tomori made a real hash of clearing the cross from James, but PEA was in the right place to finish it. However, I wasn't impressed with his overall performance last night. Didn't press very hard and his hold up play was non-existent. He is a proven finisher and that is something we obviously need but he has to contribute more in build up play and defending from the front. Broja for me looks the better all round option. Big, strong, quick. A handful. Hope GP tries PEA and Broja together up front at some point.
October 6, 20223 yr If he didn't score that goal, I'd say he had a 6/10 game, but he's a typical poacher and judged on goals, so I'm happy with him. He got into good position on a number of occasions, the final pass just never made it to him. That Reece cross deserved lot credit, it was a nightmare to defend, I rather give credit to Reece and Auba than call it a Tomori hollwer. Unlike Lukaku, he moves when there's the goal scoring chance, and a better finisher. If he keeps it up, we could finally have a 15+ goal striker for a change.
October 6, 20223 yr After his partially-executed flip against AC Milan, I would like to see him try the 'old man at the corner flag' celebration for his next goal (touch wood). Despite more or less being at opposite extremes of the play style spectrum, it would help Aubameyang cement himself as the spiritual successor to Eto'o at Chelsea.
October 6, 20223 yr If he gets the service he’s going to keep scoring goals he gets into great positions works hard and is cool in front of goal. Could do a bit more in the build up but I think he’s had a good start to his Chelsea career.

October 6, 20223 yr Hope he keeps this up. I'm tired of strikers doing everything but scoring goals so the past 2 games have been a breath of fresh air. To have a striker who you know can score goals is so uplifting

With the dross we have had, most of whom couldn't find the goal with a map and a giant neon sign, it is a relief to have someone who can finish some of the chances that come his way. But, it isn't enough. Nowhere near enough. His all-round game has been dreadful. His hold up play non-existent, very slow to press and close down, doesn't win much in the air, doesn't look particularly quick and his passing has been pretty poor. If we want to be contenders we need a striker who can finish but can do some of the other things that make a top class forward.

I'm not expecting him to be our long term solution and for me this season is a transitional one. We have a few holes left to plug before we can call ourselves contenders If we somehow become contenders this season, then he needs replacing, I agree.

I still don't understand why we sign auba in the 1sr place and why we won't play Borja more. Heck, just play puli more. We all now Auba can score but he is not Haaland plus he is 33.
October 22, 20223 yr We play him knowing his all round game is not very good, but because he finishes the big chances we pick him ahead of Broja who is not as good a finisher as him. So how did Auba do in this big game with those chance? Huh I feel like I could have written that about a different striker last season minus the Broja part...
October 22, 20223 yr I’m not going to nag about him, I respect him as a talent - What you see is what you get. A world class goalscorer with limited all round game, plus he’s 33. It’s not his fault we chose to sign him, I think we could have done a lot better.

Yeah he is essentially a stop gap so I don't expect much from him compared to people like Havertz. I just hope Broja gets more opportunities ahead of him.

In his pomp he scores today. He is past it.

October 22, 20223 yr He won't want to come as back up. Worst he will want is equal footing with Broja, or more likely ahead of him in Aubas place as number 1.

He wouldn't expect to come back and take #1 spot straight away, but he would have his sights on it and try to impress Potter, which is what any striker should be aiming for.
