If we do go back to inverted fullbacks then I think we can get away with the 6 not being an elite defender as the whole point is to maintain control of the game so that's where I would keep Enzo. Problem then is you have to drop Lavia. Good point. It isn't a call for dropping Lavia, merely what we should do to balance the squad when Enzo does play. Big games I'd go Lavia-Caicedo-Nkunku with a wide attacking fullback and in games where we need to suffocate the opposition/break low blocks I'd play Enzo with an inverted fullback.
August 25, 20241 yr He'll get overshadowed by the goals (and rightly so, we were brilliant in attack) but he had a great game today I thought. Especially in the second half.
August 25, 20241 yr He was very good today. Worked well on the left of midfield (especially once Neto came on). Neto, Enzo, Palmer, Madueke looked really well balanced today.
August 25, 20241 yr Yes he did well second half but leaves Caicedo all alone too often in the middle as he is up high in the pitch and there is no Gallagher to help out.
August 26, 20241 yr Best game for a long time. Thought he was a good captain also - seems to embrace it. Need consistency but he has to bring a world class level.
August 26, 20241 yr If he's playing it has to be at the base of midfield, all his best games for us have come from there. I'd like to see Enzo x Lavia pivot when both fit with the preogressive passing from deep.
August 26, 20241 yr I've been very critical but have to give him a thumbs up for his performance yesterday
September 1, 20241 yr Faith in this guy coming good has been shaky for a while, but I really am starting to doubt him now. I just don't see a brilliant footballer in this guy. He has good moments, but has more bad moments. So easy to bypass in midfield, too many moments in games where he is sloppy. Easy to pull out of position. What is it some are seeing? Are some blinded by his nationality? is it because he is from the country that has created some of the best players ever? Because I feel like if he was English he would be labelled as another overhyped English player. If he was from Sweden or Finland, I don't feel like anybody would believe there is anything special about him at all.

September 1, 20241 yr He is a good player but I just don't see him being suited to the Premier league. A bit like Veron who was equally overpriced. He would probably do very well either in Italy or Spain.
September 1, 20241 yr Back to what we saw all last year. He simply can't be the guy we look to or a guy who starts in the big games.
September 1, 20241 yr Something was definitely off today. We've seen him ping the ball perfectly but today they were either too soft or too hard. Are our guys winter footballers? The only one looking comfortable in the sun was cucu! Fofana on several occasions looked as if he wanted to rip his shirt off!

September 2, 20241 yr Author Thought he was far worse on the ball this time around. Defensively the whole team has work to do with leaving isolated players unmarked but it goes as far as that in my opinion. Looking back Palace outnumbered us in midfield 3 v 2 and then 3 v 1 (when Caicedo moved to RB) that second half and instead of addressing in Maresca put on more attackers to go for the win. It was a risk that neither paid off or f**ked us.
September 2, 20241 yr Yeah, I'm starting to feel abit concerned about him. He's a decent player but that's about it... He seems like a completely different player to what I saw in World Cup when we signed him. He's been here half a season longer than Caicedo but I'm much happier with Caicedo.
September 3, 20241 yr Joining the likes of Marcos Rojo, Golovin, Kleberson and James Rodriguez as players that got seriously over valued off the back of an international tournament. Realistically, Enzo is a £45m player.
