Very interesting, indeed. I actually read something similar on Marcelo Gallardo this morning coming from French media close to PSG.

Apparently he was their 1st option to replace Galtier but refused both PSG and Flamengo and instructed his technicall staff that they will all go back to work in June as the negociations with Chelsea are hitting the last stage. Same thing reported by Brazilian media saying he said No to Flamengo because there is nothing left for him to prove in South America and will move to Europe (Brazilian media say he has set his target on Chelsea and does not want to discuss other offers).

Guess we'll find out soon If anything is true.

Yeah I also heard Leeds approached him but he rejected instantly. Felt he was bigger than them.

Would be funny as @Drogba1didn't even consider him an option for the poll lol.

Massive, massive risk, but I would guess this is the work of our directors as I cannot see how our owners would have even heard of Gallado.

Barely know who Gallardo is, but given how much the board seem to love massive risks Gallardo's nailed on then

Gallardo would be a huge gamble. Another manager who is unproven at this level. Imagine the pressure.

Whoever it is would be under a lot of pressure.

Enrique has pushed very hard for the job would not be a surprise if Nagelsmann gets it but if it is Gallardo it would be a big surprise imo

Well for someone that was in frame for Barcelona few years ago he would think he was bigger than Leeds.

Whilst I'll always prefer someone tested and trusted at this level, I'm never against left field appointments.

What I want though is that you don't place your faith in an unknown with a long contract and always have a suitable exit plan to correct course if it doesn't go as planned.

Everyone deserves a chance, and wining is wining. If you have won a league in one league, you have the experiential qualities to win elsewhere. The question is can you do it at this level. The Premier league is a different beast to the Argentine league and the only thing that helps fans (looking at myself) have faith in a manager is when you look at his record previously and see that the data/stats supports he can do it. He might not but it helps with the patience factor. Only time will tell but you getting time should be always based on past achievement.

Pellegrini went from Chile to Argentina before Spain where he also did well with Real before City. I mean he's not a glam manager but kept city challenging and relevant (keeping the bench warm) till Pep Godiola was ready.

judging by this YouTube video he's the best manager in the world so sign him up!

Looks like video game football.

Did you see the first goal, 13 seconds in, 4 yards away from the middle of goal and completely unopened. We don't have someone with that level of finish.

Firstly the amount of space is ridiculous.  Secondly I remember watching very similar YouTube clips of Sarri's Napoli. That didn't translate to the PL either.

Yep, you will find a total of zero Premier League teams that will have a defensive set up like this.

Sarris Lazio and Napoli sides were poor in season 1, it was only after that they improved drastically, his coaching methods take time

Even at the end of season 1 with us we started to look good

Yeah but we had a 1 in 5 run which included two of the toughest away fixtures in the league and a dead rubber with our work already done!

It's only at Chelsea where the manager gets hounded out after 1 season where we finished top 4 and won the Europa league

In this case he wasn’t actually hounded out, but left voluntarily. I’m a fan of Sarri and was aghast at his treatment by some fans. He might have risen to that challenge in the same way Jorginho did, but his heart wasn’t in it, which made it a dealbreaker.

That long term thing - I’m all for it too and as I said elsewhere many of us WANT to be long-termist. It’s just so hard to be in this day and age and I think it’s not just chelsea and not just football.

As an aside, and back to Sarri, I’ve noticed that haters to this day sometimes blame so-called Sarriball for our bad football. How is it that such an inconsequential manager (in their view, described as a “fraud” by some) could, after one season in charge, have such a lasting impact, going on 4 years (!) now…? 🤔 quite a legacy, particularly  for someone who had no great love of the club

It is the same reason why Conte back 3 has lasting impact on Chelsea.

Hint : player

The vast majority of our lineups these days have two survivors from Sarri left at most.

He may have left voluntarily but i imagine his decision was made a lot easier by fans chanting 'f**k Sarri-ball' on a regular basis at home games.
