But in such situations, you should always square. The chances for the goal with a square ball are higher so that's your choice. Always.
April 27, 20242 yr It was a push IMO but the 2 things that get me is... 1 - I'm sure the ref saw it, so essentially he was talked into disallowing it 2 - when a foul lead to a goal against us when we played Arsenal midweek it was dismissed quickly - no referee review at the monitor there. We are generally on the wrong end of decisions by refs in this country as standard. Edited April 27, 20242 yr by 2211
April 27, 20242 yr So, it appears that the boys have some pride and fire in the bellies. Imagine what they could have achieved with a proper manager/tactician in place.

It was a nudge, Badiashile caught him unprepared for the challenge which is the fault of the defender, not Badiashile. The defender was weak which is why he was beaten so easily from a tiny nudge.

He literally barged him in his back, with such force that the defender was off balance and couldnt contest the ball. I doubt it would have been given as a penalty to us.... but it should be if that happens to our striker. Agreed. Still don't understand the farce of sending him to the booth. Just tell him in the ear. They don't call him over on every offside.

He has literally gone past 2 players, is holding the 2nd one off still as the keeper is coming out.
April 27, 20242 yr What a shambles. This is an absolute disgrace. The level of refereeing in England is abysmal. No wonder England have as many refs for EURO 2024 as my country Romania. And the refs in Romania are absolute muppets. Just before Villa's first goal, Madueke drives Digne out of play and instead of a Chelsea throw in, the ref awards a foul for Villa. That's insane. In the 80 something minute when Chelsea were pressing so high up the pitch, Palmer dispossess the Villa player in Villa's box and once again the ref blows for an inexistent foul. Absolute madness. Chelsea's third - How the f**k is that even a foul??? Truly unbelievable. I love this sport, but I am absolutely tired of these incompetent and corrupt refs that always get protected by the higher ups. If they would get a three or four month suspension after ruining matches, they'd probably think twice when they choose to destroy matches with so much freedom.

April 27, 20242 yr Author Conor Gallagher saying after the game we were robbed. That will be a ban for implying the ref is biased then.

Well if that was how it was seen then Harry Maguire should be giving away penalties each and every week....he does that each and every time but never a foul given.

The ref correctly let it go, but then was bitched into changing his decision. Pathetic.

April 27, 20242 yr So last week.when Arse and got away with an almost exactly the same challenge we were told it was weak defending. This week its definitely a foul, how very odd.

Maguire goes one step further. The guy has you in headlocks, tries to rip your shirt, constantly pulls on your shoulder. He can't go a single second defending without pulling. April 27, 20242 yr It was a foul but the ref saw it and thought nothing of it so it should have stood. VAR shouldnt intervene.

No fan of Pochettino, but the lack of pride and fire in the belly 98% of the time can’t solely be down to the coach. If it’s solely down to the coach, why did he choose to tell them to fight tonight but only one or two of the previous forty odd fixtures?

April 27, 20242 yr Again, for the record I do think it was a foul. Semi-automated offside being brought in will stop the Lukaku against Liverpool or Coventry against Man Utd corruption but unfortunately the subjective decisions are still open to corruption. The Grealish handball, Gabriel's foul before the Arsenal's 3rd goal and today - all 3 went against us in one week. Foul against us are obviously deemed soft to overturn yet when we do it different rules apply. Like I said before I'm glad Nottingham Forest said what they said and called refs and PGMOL out - it's been going on too long and the clubs where it clearly doesn't even itself out over the course of a season need to stand up for themselves, because nobody else will look out for them.
