May 29, 20251 yr I expect everyman and his dog saw that line up last night and though WTF?That first 45 was up there with one of our worst performances of the season. We weren't at the races and could have been more than 1-0 down. It didn't take a brain surgeon to know that Gusto had to be replaced by James and thankfully that helped to change the game. Later Neto (who was completely ineffective), went off and it allowed Cole to find the space and produce the magic to turn the game.I have seen the comments from Maresca about managing players like James and I do get it. We want him fit and don't want him breaking down again. But in the last game of the season, in a final?Anyway, it doesn't matter as the second half was great and we romped home and we have another trophy, so well done to all.Only downsides were Gusto who was shocking. Jackson who wasn't much better. Somehow scored when he missed the ball with his head and as for the miss control when going clean through that just summed up how bad he is. He's no Torres! And it was Sancho's turn to look our best wide man, so do we keep him after all?

And it was Sancho's turn to look our best wide man, so do we keep him after all?Gusto just can't come inside, I think he's a very very good overlapping fullback, even wingback, but he is not a center mid, he also isn't James, who again reminded us what a miss he is when he's not fit. World class. Somthing palmer said in the presser. He got tired of going backwards and sideways and decided to just take it on. Why isn't that happening week in week out. Was that agasint what Enzo tells them to do?If this was the same 11 next season, id be looking to put palmer out on the Rightand play with Lavia, Caicedo and Enzo in center mid. As it is we have 50 more wingers joining so lets see. On Maresca him self, I haven't really enjoyed large parts of the season. I would swap right now for quite few others, but from a results based business if you had offered me this finish at the start of the season i'd have taken it. As a club if we don't now buy at least one center forward in the summer... well I honestly dont know

All too often though we get into good areas and choose to continually recycle the ball, players have made their runs but not found. Is this that our players aren’t confident in their ability to deliver a good cross or is it coached into them? We are after a new number 9, desperately need one, he will though be another to fail if we don’t deliver quality crosses, early, as the forward makes his preferred run.

(Think Real Betis put up a lot more of a fight last night to give them credit! Arsenal by contrast were a much easier challenge in that final as I remember!😂)
May 29, 20251 yr Played in the Europa League or Conference League 3 times since Roman bought the club ... 3 appearances ... 3 trophies.#DNA
May 29, 20251 yr REMEMBER JT SAID THE PLAYERS TOOK NO NOTICE OF AVRAM GRANT AND DONE WHAT THEY WANTED...WELL DONE PALMERDoing his own thingPalmer admitted after the game that he grew fed up of going backwards and sideways and basically just decided to do his own thing! As reported by Absolute Chelsea after the game, Palmer said:“I was sick of getting the ball and going backwards and sideways. I remember there was a bit of space, always chopping and changing and I saw Enzo [Fernandez] run so I put the ball over the top. Same again [for the second assist].”Well done Palmer, for doing this, whether it was against tactical instructions or not!

Within minutes we were 2-1 up, and I just assumed Madueke would do something to make a mockery of my criticism. Needless to say he never did.

Luckily for Maresca all's well that ends well. Not sure what has happened to Gusto he was one of the better players last season.

What is strange is that you cannot grasp that.As I already said, he's been out injured for months. Would be absolutely idiotic to suggest starting him. Nice finish from Jackson last night by the way wasn't it?
May 29, 20251 yr Remember we would have been in the Europa last season if it was not for Utd just like us winning now puts Forest into Europe via the Conference league.

May 29, 20251 yr I wonder if those other European giants will try to finish in a Conference spot to try and " win it all " ?
