Willian

To be honest, I think we've done Spurs a favor buy snapping him up. Will be flop of the season in my opinion.

His recent performances leave a lot to be desired. Not only that, but I never really rated him in the first place.

To be fair, he has played 2 games in a new country in a new team. reminds me a lot of ramires' first few months here.

I wouldn't be calling flop of the season on 2 games, that's pretty harsh. However if he doesn't score 20 goals and assists I'm sure many people would consider that a flop anyway.

He has 90 minutes of energy, quick, shown flashes of his technical ability and once settled he will be useful. I'm about 75% sure mourinho will find more use for him than he would have moses.

Judging a player after 1 and a half games? f**king hell man give him a break. That being said I still wouldn't bought him because we have too many players in that position.

I think we should have bought draxler instead of willian and schurrle, but I think both can produce for us.

Its very early days, we now have run of league fixtures that we should be looking to string a run of wins together up until the arsenal away game in December.

In the next 2 months there will be plenty of opportunities for willian to win the fans over.

Sorry but spending £30M on the guy was basically just burning money.

He won't ever be a Hazard, a Mata, or an Oscar. He's a £30M benchwarmer and in yesterday's case not even in the 18 man squad.

That money could have gone to buying a holding midfielder. Then we would be a better balanced squad.

I do agree we shouldn't have signed him due to the depth we have, but to already deem him a flop after 1 and a half games is silly, he is a good player so I still think he will do well but I don't think he'll do anything the rest of our AM's couldn't do. Personally I think both him and Schurrle were pointless signings but I'm going to give them a chance to prove their worth.

I don't want to judge him too early, but I still don't see the logic in this either.  I think KDB and Moses would have been ample depth in those AM positions.  We could just about swing Schurrle as well, because then we'd have 2 direct wingers offering something a little different.  But even that is getting greedy considering what we already have.  To then spend 30m on Willian still seems like madness considering the glaring weakness we've still got.  I just don't see how we're going to keep all those players happy without sacrificing consistency.  The Mata/Hazard (particularly) partnership was the reason our attack was so successful last season, even with terrible strikers.  Right now we're forced to constantly chop and change.

The way I see it we're going to have to lose somebody very talented.  I don't want to lose KDB, and Mata, Hazard or Oscar are out of the question.  If Moses has a good season at Liverpool he'll be hard to let go, because he'd be home grown, decent and hard working.  That leaves Willian and Schurrle, and at the moment I think Schurrle will become the more useful player.  But I'm not sure we can justify either of them to be honest.  Moses is probably not in our plans though, unless he has a tremendous season.  Really silly situation to be in.

Looking at Moses playing for Liverpool I see why we decided to let him go out on loan. He has more experience from the league to Willian so he currently might look the better player but it is only a matter of time before Willian shows his worth if his quality is worthy of the price tag.

Moses is way too up and down in games and he is constantly crowded out if he can't find the pass. It can look pretty horrible if he doesn't succeed in his dribbling which is his strenght.

When Willian settles in (hopefully soon) I think we see the true quality.

Yes! I think some of their fans saw Willian score that goal and thought "okay lets win tonight and go past chelski in the table. who needs willian then."

Too early for this talk though...

Fact of the day - Willian scored 5 minutes into his Chelsea Premier League debut! Only Tore Andre Flo took less time to notch his first for the Blues.

That's the trouble with these Brazilians, they do tend to hang about a bit.

Willian have scored similar goal/goals for Shakhtar as well. I remember sawing one or two in some of his youtube comps...

Hope this boosts his confidence and he starts to deliver like he should.

aside from the goal, i was really impressed with his workrate. it was only a late cameo, but he was funnelling back and helping the fullback when needed, tucking in and bolstering the central midfield when needed. that pleased me as much as the goal tbh.

Positive from Willian in every way. He did a good job for the Hazard winner there as well. His header for Oscar was perfect for Oscar to run at which was critical for the goal. Simple thing and a simple pass but a perfect one.

I'm pretty sure we'll see a better Willian after this. He looked so happy after the goal. Load off his shoulders I think.
