And if it costs us a Champions League place? (and subsequently, Pogba and Stones potentially?)

If integrating 2 young players into a team which walked the league the year before costs us a Champions League spot than I would lay more blame on the 9 others and the Manager than the 2 lads.

It's not just game time that RLC needs though, he needs the trust of his manager and I think that's where the biggest problem will be for our youngsters.  Jose for some reason seems to want to play everyone as a holding midfielder until he trusts them, the only way you can earn that trust seems to be if you come with a big price tag.  It's a catch 22, I think RLC needs to play with the freedom he get's at youth level and told to go and express himself, can't see that happening though.  Let's go safe and play him as the holding midfielder; "just get the ball and give it simple son".

Post match comments; "he didn't give the ball away but he didn't really do much with it either".

Would depend entirely on why we missed out on the CL spot, if we played two youngsters that just played sh*te all year but were excused because of their age and we missed out because of them, then yes I would be pissed off.

All this being said, this is a scenario that will never happen, certainly not under Jose.

I think rlc is good enough to start next to matic now. Mikel has his limitations, ramires has probably had 2 good games in the last 2 seasons, and fabregas is looking way off the pace.

There is always talk about integrating youth, but in the vast majority of cases, young players only get a chance due to injuries or poor results. At chelsea this has rarely been the case.

I think rlc will be the main beneficiary of the poor start to season.

I think its far too easy to blame Jose for the player not making it in our team. Actually we should be looking at the players. Name me one youth player how should replace any first team player in our team? I cant think of any.

Yes these kids need game time and thats what loans are for. Now loaning the player to the right team is a big issue but I doubt Jose has much say in that. Take Wallace for example. Chelsea wanted him to go to one team but he wanted to join Inter and didnt play all season.

We are a big team now. We arent a Swansea or West brom. If we dont win the usually the manager is sacked. So how can you blame a manager playing his best players and not risking his job by playing the kids.

There's a part that I agree with you, but in my opinion we have few players that can actually replace if Jose will play them enough and improve them, RLC is one of them. We've lost to Crystal Palace and Man City with our best starting line, youth can't play worse. Look how many youth players have turned into a world class players, best example is Pogba. Man United left him and didn't want him, Juventus brought him and they gave him a CHANCE to play. Now the player worth more than 50m. Look at Barcelona, I won't take Messi as an example but Rafinha, already made 24 games for them and even reached a spot in Brazil's squad.

I do get your point how ever Juve and Barca play in a league where they are pretty much going to win the league every year. There isnt the pressure that the Premier league holds.

I do agree with you about giving players a chance since some of our stars arent playing well. It did annoy me that Courtois just walked back into the team after his stupid sending off.

The issue with dropping one of the stars for a youth player is the star is going to be unhappy which causes a bad atmosphere inthe dressing room and say we still dont win then the manager gets stick for playing the youth instead of the stars we have.

I think its natural for really big teams not to bring youth players through very much.

Kalas

If Kalas had be given the game time & guidence form JT & Cahill as what Stones enjoy at Everton, then we wouldn't have needed to have

tried to get Stones from them as Calas would have been Stones equall or even surpased him.

My point is what you player could replace a first team memeber now. Not who could be good enough if they were played a lot and became better.

If you were Hazard or JT would you be pleased to sit on the bench while Sinclair or Kalas played trying to get better?

As I said we are a big club with superstars in the team and those superstars demand to play. If they are unhappy they will want to leave. Its all well and good wanting to see some youth come through but we dont want to lose our current superstars either.

we don't have to displace anyone in the first team. a better question would be, which youth players would displace our bench players? i personally think musonda, traore, kenedy, RLC, Solanke, Colkett could make our bench.

I also was adding Ola Aina and Chalobah (depends on his loan in Napoli).

Oh please, think of who we'd be dropping. Id like to see them given a chance but thats a poor bench.

Just as an observation. I remember a very similar themed conversation happening when we were struggling under AVB except about McEachran rather than RLC.

True that. I remember Nibs saying McEachran was going to be as good as Mikel.

In my opinion our bench is weak as it is. However i am not saying all those youth players make the bench, but any of those could make our bench on a regular basis. I would personally like to see traore, loftus-cheek, kenedy and musonda make a handful and more first team appearances this season. I heard José wants to keep musonda instead of sending him on loan so that's a positive sign at least.

McEachran failed himself in the end. At one point, he was rated higher than Jack Wilshere.

Kalas?! Stop it please. He couldn't get a game for Cologne. That's pretty low for our standards.

If he was given game-time & educated under JT for the last  2Years to which Stones was afforded at Everton, the outcome might have been different, given the last two years he has been in the wilderness,

The loan system abroad & home is rarely beneficent for players, in fact I believe it is a waste of time for 90% players,

why would teams educate players for the benifit of other clubs?

He also played a near perfect game when shutting out one of the best attacks this league has ever seen, and when the title was on the line too.

We parked the bus, and it was hardly 'near perfect'. Good thing mourinho saw Kalas' performance for what it actually was.

McEachran didn't have the natural attributes RLC has to fall back on.

Over at redcafe they see RLC as the spitting image of Paul Pogba at that age. If that's even half true it would be criminal for us to miss the opportunity to develop such a talent for ourselves.

Oh come on he was very well protected. Its almost insulting that people expected Kalas to be terrible or something like he blocked some shots won some headers and cleared the ball a few times like it was an amazing performance that nobody expected. Im sorry but i expect a 20/21 year old on the books of Chelsea to be able to do the basics.

He did play well in that situation. But thats not a usual scenario for our defenders. He may not be capable or ready for more responsibility

I'm glad we never Pogba. I want the club to develop and play RLC.
