If Batshuayi improves other areas of his game and adds his tap ins then we've got a great player. But at the minute he scores every now again and doesn't do much more.

Well I do but also I can’t resist the opportunity to take the piss out of anything, it’s my only joy in life! Morata and Michy need to add each other’s qualities to their games and hey presto we have two world class strikers!
February 2, 20188 yr So first game, 2 goals and 1 assist. If he wasn't good enough to stay, I'm very excited to see Giroud!

The following season they benched him for a striker who averaged 1 in 2.5, they were sensational and won the treble. I can't understand why Chelsea off all fans are mocking the idea off general play in a striker being important, unless you believe Darren Bent would have been a better option than Drogba circa 04-12?
February 2, 20188 yr I'm glad he has done well in his first match, but don't get too excited with his performance. He's scored two goals against a piss poor defence, just like he scored two against Newcastle. Or are now Wilson and Stanislas top class strikers? Don't get me wrong, I didn't want him gone and thought he could have played a role in our team, but let's wait to see how he travels against better teams in the BL before we start talking about KDB, Salah and Batshuayis in this topic as well.

Punishment for our dilly dallying for the rest of the month that we neither had Michy or his replacement registered for the game

Little harsh on Gomez aren't we? I mean I get it if he was the one who hit the weak penalty in extra time that could have won them the cl but pretty sure that was robben. Can hardly blame him that it was "written in the stars" That it was our time not his. Now personally I have a preference for a striker to score goals AND be able to link well with the rest of the team AND be strong enough not to fall like a fairy on any form of contact. Michy ticked two of those boxes, drogba would dive but he could also stay on his feet. Sadly, at the mo, morata can just about do one of those, or rather 0 from the treatment table.

February 3, 20188 yr Goals win you games, and Conte could be gone if we don’t get maximum points in the next 2 games.
February 3, 20188 yr Not surprised by his goals last night. This puts Michy on 12 goals this season, equal to Morata? Probably less than half the minutes too. Hope he doesn't hold the harsh treatment against him and comes back when Conte parts ways with us.

Punishment for our dilly dallying for the rest of the month that we neither had Michy or his replacement registered for the game I don't like that nonsense of saying it's an assist just because a player passed it to his team mate, only for his team mate to do all the work to score. It's the same as when people argued about matic having a good number of assists, even though they were basically him passing a ball to hazard, hazard dribbling it past two players and slotting it into the corner or his team mate finding the space after a pass to smash it into the top corner. Hardly an assist is it. They should really revise what an assist really is.

Yeah ok your'e right not worse, but come on we should beat them 9/10 times and draw the other.

February 3, 20188 yr He may have found his level. I watched the game last night and while he took his goals well the opposition and defending could hardly classified as world class. It will be interesting to see how he does in this league and how he does in the World Cup/

He came back and has actual become an important part of the team.

Agreed. Christensen didn't find his level in the Bundesliga. He finally found an opportunity to showcase what his level could be in the Bundesliga. I hope it is the same with Bats who I still think has it in him to be an important player for us.

Salah was sh*t. We should have never signed him and I have zero regrets about selling him. He wouldn’t improve us even now and Liverpool are no better with him either. For the third time? You can't seriously stand by those comments and justify it? :D The guy has over 30 goals and is literally the full package.

February 5, 20188 yr Gonna weigh in for the first time in this thread here. Unpopular opinion ahead, I guess: Batshuayi is sh*t. I'm sorry, he just is. Every single one of his goals for Chelsea was either a tap-in following the hard work of teammates, or a huge slice of fortune. You might say "he has to be there to finish them", but his positioning is absolutely appalling 90% of the time. He stands like a lemon in the box and occasionally the team poke it into his path for him to score. His movement is atrocious; there's no other way of putting it. While Morata's finishing has been piss poor in recent games he's played in, his runs are at least still very intuitive and dangerous to the opposition. Morata can see where Fabregas or Hazard is about to make a pass 9 times out of 10 and he's always looking to get in behind. Batshuayi just stands with his back to the defence and wants everything into feet. It's simply not good enough for Chelsea. He is far too static and lacking in footballing intelligence. Norwich at home he was very poor - awful touch all night, kept giving the ball away, standing around doing nothing... but then he taps in a goal and he's the second coming of Zola. Newcastle at home he was likewise poor, but another tap-in courtesy of Hazard and Alonso and a massively deflected goal paper over the cracks once more. Any time he ever featured against good opposition, he looked totally out of his depth. It's all well and good building up your goals per minutes ratio with tap-ins in the cups, against pub teams no less, but any decent defence he has faced has had no problem whatsoever in dealing with him. His finishing is probably okay, but his movement is not good enough for that level. Before someone brings up Atletico as "good opposition", they couldn't beat Qarabag in two attempts, and again, it was a tap-in from close range with their defence apparently not fussed with marking. His one good performance in a Chelsea shirt was in that Watford 4-2. Great header. But otherwise he has ranged from bang average to downright horrendous in all his outings for us. I cannot believe that anyone is seriously letting his array of tap-ins against the likes of Qarabag and Forest add gloss to an otherwise below par Chelsea career so far. He will never be good enough to lead our line. I wish the guy all the best in the future, just as long as it's not at Chelsea. Nothing against him as a person, he just will not do for this club and its aspirations. He's better suited to running our twitter and facebook pages than he is to leading our attack. Rightly deserves a place in Chelsea folklore for that night at the Hawthorns though, of course.

I stand by that at the time he was at Chelsea he was one of the worst performing players I have seen play for us yes. I'm not really sure why this keeps getting dragged back up in truth. He's having a great season for Liverpool, good for him. Doesn't change the fact that he wasn't good enough for Chelsea and only by leaving and playing for a team with lower expectations was he able to play regularly and develop into a better player. That was never going to happen if he'd stayed at Chelsea because he wasn't good enough and we did the right thing by selling him. Am I going to have to explain this every time he scores a couple of goals?
