Another bad elbow from Rudigier against a Swiss player. He was lucky to get away with it. Just about a red card in my book. He’d better learn better control of his arms else the refs will start getting down on him.

Yep, it doesnt smell good for Rudiger. Hope he stays and fight for his spot, on his day he's much better than Christensen. Unforturnetly he makes way too much unforced mistakes and his positionsing always been questionable.

Could just be a knock for all we know to be fair.

Interesting to see Tomori on the bench over Clarke-Salter though. I wonder what that means for the rumours of his loan to Everton. For my money Tomori ought to be our third-choice (i.e. first backup and a starter in a back three) behind Silva and Zouma.

That would surprise me. He hasn't had a good season, but he still has a lot to offer, if not to us, then to a few other European clubs.

Seems as though he's been made the Scapegoat for our Woeful defending Last season which i personally feel is unfair. He's a better defender than both Christensen and Zouma in my opinion and the most likely to show improved form when paired with Silva.

Christensen lacks consistency and Zouma's distribution is poor, having said that i can also see Zouma improving with the benefit of Silva's experience and Organisation.

If Tomori can build on yesterday's performance he could well push his way to the top of the Queue.

That’s not true his performances were very poor in the last few games of the season.. the less we talk about distribution the better.. he was kicking balls straight into touch and then kicking clearances to the corner flag..

also it’s a myth that zouma can’t pass the ball .. it’s just that he has a peculiar technique when stroking it that makes it look awkward.. he is easily our best defender at this moment.. strong in tackle and in the air .. pacy and also puts his body on the line when defending.. 

Rumours going round that he wants out. Cheerio then. 

If we had to get rid of one of our current 5 centre backs, then Christensen would get my vote every day of the week and twice on Sundays ... Rudiger would be next on the list however, so if we are going to end up selling him then no argument from me LOL. In the perfect world we'll sell both of them and buy another decent centre back.

Conor Coady from Wolves for me, if at all possible. Decent CB that i think has at least the same leadership potential or more than Declan Rice. Being a scouse i expect he will probably ultimately partner VVD but if there were space here it would be good to have him as part of our spine. IMO

Declan Rice beginning to make a lot of sense now.

Agree, BUT we will get next to nothing for them and when we go knocking, up goes the price.

I find it strange how all of our defenders and keepers have suddenly become bad players. We did have a decent defence Sarri. 

Never rated him tbh. I dont think he was particularly good at Roma, where he actually played full back quite a bit, he was decent in his first season under conte in a 3. Under sarri in a 4, he was average, and last season, he was generally poor.

I dont think he or Christiensen will get a contract extension, both have 2 years left, so if we can sell one now, and 1 in a years time, then great.

The defence under Sarri got beaten 2-0 by Arsenal then hammered 4-0 by Bournemouth and 6-0 by Man City. A decent defence doesn't get hammered back to back like that. Things got so bad that Sarri had to make us play more defensively, and it hurt our attacking play. Even after that, our defence wasn't much better though. We weren't conceding 6 goals anymore, but we were struggling to create much and still leaking goals here and there.

I guess it is the versatility ... he can play DM, or CB if necessary. Similarly (eventually) with Malang Sarr, who can cover centre back and left back. Gives you more options and more cover with less players.

Yeah i see your point, but as i posted on here before, rather we kept Ampadu for that.

Frank dodged the question in the presser today about him leaving. 

I think he along with our whole defence had a bad year but for me he is still close to our best CB. Interesting that CHO and RLC are being cut a lot of slack coming back from bad injuries and Rudiger is receieving little to no sympathy. 

I agree with others that Christensen is first out the door. At least Rudiger can compete physically. I assume Sarr isnheading on loan. The last thing we need is a miniature centre back when we are already awful in the air.

Can't say I'm surprised to be honest. He has escaped a lot of flak for his poor performances with more being aimed at Christensen.
