Roma Vs Chelsea (CL) Tue 31st Oct 2017 KO 19:45 GMT

Switched off when we went 2-0 down. It was obvious before the match we'd lose with that lineup, that formation and those tactics. Conte is walking a tightrope now and rightly so. I have a feeling he wants out of Chelsea and to go back to Italy. The signings or lack of them in the Summer have left our squad depleted and also I'm not sure whether his wife and daughter have joined him in London. The players don't seem interested and all in all it looks like a total f*ck up.We have been here before. Conte reminds me of Ancelotti in the season he got sacked. Poor team selections, tactics and poor substitutions. Lose against Manure and Conte's job will be on the line. He has gone from hero to zero in a very short space of time. WORRYING.

Well Conte really made a pig's ear out of that. Team selection and tactics were just nonsense.

Playing Bakayoko wih Fabregas in midfield just about worked against Bournemouth.

But Roma just walked through us again and our defence just crumbled under the pressure.

Not sure what Conte is trying to prove. It's almost like he never saw the last game against Roma.

Is he trying to get himself sacked?

Has anyone noticed that Cahill played on the right of the back three and Rudiger on the left? What the hell was that? Azpilicueta is useless going forward. The whole backline was shocking. Alonso hasn't had a single good game this season.

Fabregas, when his passing is off, is doing more damage than help. Bakayoko is still too raw and inconsistent and needs time and hard work to become the player he was bought to be. Kante is the only player in our midfield that combines speed, technical ability and intelligence to do what the role entails. I have some hopes for Drinkwater, too.

Hazard was the only bright spot in the first half, but he can't do everything on his own. Morata is still struggling in a lone role and Pedro does a lot of running, but not much else.

If not for Courtois, the score would have been embarrassing.

Conte deserves the blame, no question about it, this was his team out there and they were all over the place.

But more importantly, games like these may prove to be more useful than an odd win. At least it will force the board to realize that they failed to do their job and provide the manager with the backing in the transfer market he'd asked for. This is on them, too.

I'm pretty confident that this was Fabregas' last start in a Chelsea shirt, certainly under Conte. Possibility he'll get thrown in against Bournemouth at home and whenever we draw lower sides in the FA cup, but his display was borderline comical and the third goal summed it up. Drinkwater isn't that great a player, but he'll do a hell of a lot better than Cesc.

Going 1-0 down in the first minute is never easy to recover from; we were spirited in our response but that was all destroyed by that abomination of a second goal and we never really recovered from there. The second half, quite frankly, bordered on unprofessional and that's no exaggeration in my eyes.

I took all the media coverage regarding Alvaro Offside Morata's desire to return to his homeland as a pinch of salt but his 'performance' this evening has swayed me, he doesn't really look that bothered to be honest. Over the last few weeks he has reminded me of Costa from January to May 2017. He doesn't do anything with the ball at his feet or with his back to goal, doesn't get into any good positions to receive a cross and he doesn't have any of Costa's aggression which let him away with being a bit sh*te running with the ball. So basically, he's doing f**k all, and that really needs to change fast.

In my eyes, we just don't really play with a system, or a style of play. It's all just so aimless. If by some miracle we manage to beat the first press and get the ball into the midfield, then we just resort to getting it wide and putting in the most hopeless cross. It'll inevitably be headed away and we'll do the same thing again, and again, and again until they either get the ball out of their own area and start an attack, or one of our players runs offside and they get the free kick. Lather, rinse, repeat.

If I was Mourinho I'd be licking my lips, they've been very solid at the back all season so they won't really have to do too much to stifle our toothless attack. Stick Martial and Rashford on the wings for the counter attack and let them wreak havoc, hopefully it won't be too embarrassing.

What about against the sh*t from down the lane?

I reckon teams have just worked out that his weakness is pace and they're exploiting it to the max, and without Kanté to cover people are getting exposed left right and center.

I agree with all your points really.

A lot of fans know where the root of our problems lie, it's the board. I don't think it's any coincidence that after a successful season, we have struggled the next after the board has failed to back the manager.

They just cause unnecessary tension and bad feeling that filters through the club as the season goes on. Our board is f**king woeful in my opinion, and they seem more concerned about selling players on for big money than building a squad full of depth and quality.

If you are going to sell our f**king depth, then at least back the manager and bring in the players he needs, if you can't do that then don't sell the damn players !!

Ohh absolutely.......I used to be happy and prideful for having an owner like RA. But nahh he is not the same. He has let some supremely awful people do us badly and he just sits there with his war hammer ready for the manager and only the manager. At this level it should not be possible to repeat such fatal mistakes every time we win something. We can blame the players and the manager all we want and rightly so.....but this sh*t will keep repeating itself unless he sorts it out. You can bet your behind the media and refs will do their best to make sure we lose against jose.

Wtf was that? Bloody awful performance. No passion, no fight, so depressing. Can't  think of anyone who played well.

I know BQ, I think the last time we looked so inept was the 3-0 defeat away to Arsenal last season. Fittingly for Halloween, we provided a horror show tonight.

I honestly believe our difficulties all relate to the Cesc / Bakayoko 2 man midfield. It's throwing the whole team out of shape and providing no cover for the back 3.

There's a graphic on the BBC website showing our players' average positions, Cesc and Bakayoko were playing in the same space, literally on top of each other.

Kante can't return soon enough and we need to establish either Kante / Bakayoko or Kante / Drinkwater as a pairing.

Morata looks like he's shrinking in stature before our eyes, he needs better service and a goal.

All we can expect is that there is a really positive reaction v Man Utd but if Conte starts Cesc and Bakayoko again we're doomed.

This is why Conte wanted another CM and didn't want to sell Matic. The board went over his head and sold Matic, sold Chalobah, loaned out Loftus-Cheek and waited until the last day of the transfer window to sign Drinkwater. He started the season with Bakayoko, who had played no pre season, just recovered from a knee injury and had just moved to a new country, Fabregas, who we all know isn't good enough for the 2 man midfield role, and Kante.

The problems were all caused early on by the board and we are paying the price for it now.

I personally think Conte will have no choice but to move away from his usual formation and tactics, he doesn't have the players to make use of it. I'm still unsure on Bakayoko, even with Kante beside him, he looks tired already this season ( probably down to not having a pre season and being rushed back into the team, which again is down to the mistakes of the board )

Defensively we were a shambles.

But let's take a minute to reflect on how poor we were going forward, aimless crosses flashing from one byline to the next, players not on the same wave length, and when we did get a sight of goal, we sh*t our pants!

I've seen some rough performances in the last 25 years, this is one of the most disjointed attacking performances I can remember. Nothing came off, and it looked like this was the 1st time these players had ever played together.

2nd half was very poor from all around. Midfield was the key area, Roma might not have controlled it but all 3 Roma midfielders worked their socks off containing us and using long balls to constantly peg us back.

343 doesn't work anymore. Formation and tactics needs to be rebooted. We're not getting the best out of anyone

Very poor individual mistakes and a listless performance since the start of the half. Losing is fine but not the performance. When all 3 CBs chased after 1 person, that was it for me, no way back if our mental state was that bad.

Not optimistic with Utd but I'd bite off the hand that'll give the draw now.
