RIP Ray Wilkins

RIP Ray. I remember seeing him at the first match after the club sacked him, walking around smiling and chatting to the fans like nothing bad had happened. True gent from top to bottom.

One of our best. Top man Ray.

My first Chelsea hero and the only player along with Pat Nevin that I was truly gutted to see leave us. When ever I heard him or saw him on TV you would listen, although Chelsea through and through he was very fair and not the biased stuff we get from other pundits. This really has shocked me, as although the news broke over the weekend I thought he would pull through, let them all know up there Ray, that 'blue is the colour' R.I.P

Terrible news. Chelsea to the core. Served us with total dedication and his love for the club meant he held no bitterness when he was ruthlessly and inexplicably sacked as Carlo's assistant. Truly fantastic player who had an incredible career. Just heard some tributes to him from Alvin Martin, Ally McCoist and Martin Tyler who could not speak highly enough of him as a bloke.

Such a sad loss.

Truly gutted.  Met him one time in the queue for the Shed. We had a chat and he was a genuinely nice bloke.  I told him he didn't ought to be queueing with muppets like me, he was a Chelsea legend, and he told me that he didn't want any special treatment.  Great bloke, desperately missed.

Saw him in the away end at palace this season at the outside bar, he was totally mobbed and took about 20 minutes to get through everyone, shaking hands and getting patted on the back. This morning been on phone getting Wembley tickets and sorting them out with mates, but this news just makes all that seem so irrelevant. Suddenly Sundays game against West Ham has become very significant again.

Oh this is awful news .... RIP Ray ... had him plastered all over my bedroom wall when I was a kid ... any pic any size that I could find in Shoot! magazine and the papers.

Met him at the English Hickory Open last year (vintage golf tournament with antique wooden shafted clubs).  Lovely bloke ... I was embarrassingly tongue-tied for a 50 year old man meeting his boyhood hero.

I think a little bit of all Chelsea fans has died today ...  condolences to friends and family. CFC Forever ...

Tragic news. He married my second cousin Jackie, who was one of the club secretarial staff, and they had their reception in what is now Under the Bridge Nightclub in the East Stand.

I used to have childhood  fantasies about them popping round and having a kick about with Butch in the back garden.

I met him a couple of times and he was very friendly and a genuinely nice bloke.

A fantastic footballer and hugely respected man, whose  passing will be mourned by many others in the game aside from Chelsea fans

RIP Butch Wilkins
