We've got a new Kepa

Featured Replies

It's funny how I think that he should just save a shot but at the same time know that he probably won't do it so I try to predict that it's a goal at that same split second, it's such an amazing paradox that happens in my mind every time a shot goes on target...

SAVE IT ( I KNOW YOU WONT SAVE IT I JUST KNOW IT ) SAVE IT JUST SAVE IT ( IT'S IN ALREADY ISN'T IT )

Shot outside the box, he’s got it covered by his physicality but let’s it go in under his hand. The more things change the more they stay the same. Better get Mendy in this week before the Vermin visit or it may not be so sunny on Super Sunday.

I don't even think he got the first bit right. There was no whip in that shot so he had plenty of time to set himself and push off and I still think he was slow in pushing off and then flopped onto the ball instead of pouncing at it. Even then he still had it and still let it go under him. His body language makes me feel like we have put the u15s keeper in goal and he is just out of his depth

No whip no change in direction, yet Kepa wanted to go the wrong way which delayed his dive in the right way. We have to sign a new keeper, just any at this point.

One of the BBC’s talking points on today’s game

  • “Since he joined Chelsea in 2018, Kepa Arrizabalaga has conceded more Premier League goals from outside the box (19) than any other goalkeeper. Indeed, excluding blocked shots, Kepa has conceded nine of the past 13 overall shots on target he has faced in the Premier League.”

Is anyone really surprised! The guy is mince. We need to just take the financial hit on him and move on. He’s a woeful keeper, still blows my mind we spent so much on him. Role on Mendy.

Mince lol,thats a new word.

At the moment he is still a Chelsea player whether we like it or not and if we don’t get behind him, he’ll only be even worse. No matter how I rate one of our boys, I’ll always support them. I’ve been one of the loudest shouting for him to go, but the seasons started now and the negativity no longer serves a purpose. I hope he managed to exorcise whatever demons he’s carrying and proves me and everyone else wrong.

One of the worst keepers in the league.

He is truly shocking.

You are being quite kind. He's clearly the worst goalkeeper in the premiership by some distance.

We have bought the Ali Dia of goalkeepers.

All these modern words the youngsters use these days, I prefer the old Skool terminology personally, Kepa is f**king sh*t!!!!

might be a regional thing but both my dad and grandad use the word mince in that way, certainly not a youngster thing!

Is that ringer still at West Ham? Roberto I think his names was?

He was marginally worse.

Thought he played well in the first half.

Trouble is at what point do you give up on such a big investment knowing that if you do you're basically throwing away £70m?

When you realize the team is going to go nowhere if he stays.

He can't save anything. He's the worst goalkeeper in the history of the Premiership at that (730th out of 730).
Can't catch anything from set-pieces either and when he tried once yesterday he missed the ball entirely. Zero claims from corners last season which is also a record.

No idea why he played, he's evidently not good enough and a liability. One shot on goal from any distance and there's a decent chance it's going in. And yet again, he was awful in the air, I see no difference from last season to this season in that game he just played.

Under no circumstances should this kid be playing any games at the moment for us, 0.

For one rare moment I agreed with Carjacker.., he said that we dont often get fleeced on transfers but we got spanked in a panic for Kepa,

Not only did we get spanked on the fee, but we've also been fleeced on his wages ... he's got a contract until 2025 so in the next 5 seasons, starting with this one, we'll be paying him £39 million ...

I'd be surprised if anyone shows any interest in him before his contract expires ...

Tbf Good Job He Played And Let Them Score, We Decided To Play With A Bit More Energy After They Scored.

In All Seriousness It's Almost Like He Tried Too Hard On Trying To Over Save It After His Previous Flaps At Balls From Outside The Box

I really feel sorry for him and I don't think he can turn it around like De Gea did when he arrived in the league, DDG actually showcased elite shot stopping potential even in his early days. A lot of his errors early on came from set pieces and when players muscled him in the box whereas with Kepa there is not a single area (Maybe with the exception of his sweeping skills) that he has shown even a reasonable amount of competency. He doesnt possess organisation and leadership skills, he isn't commanding in the box, his positioning is terrible, his shot stopping is worse and his wrists are weak.

I think the club will need to bite the bullet on this one and stop looking for something that just isn't there.

Scottish people have been saying mince since the 60’s his name is Edinburgh blue. The American version would be “Chopped liver”

We used to say "mince" where I grew up (east Kent). I think it's a fitting adjective for Kepa at the moment.

Out of interest, I checked his market value on transfermarkt.com and I'm surprised he's still (supposedly) valued so highly. It baffles me how we ever considered him to be worth €80 million.

Watching the replay of their goal reminds me how Courtois used to save shots like that without any effort, Cech in his prime even more so.

At least at the moment, Kepa is nowhere near our usual goalkeeper quality. With the exception of probably a later Dave Beasant.

Willy seems far the better option as it stands.

We did go with Willy last season on occasions and for the odd match he was ok yet also prone to errors.

If we don't get a new keeper I can only assume it is due to complying with FPP yet will cost us a position which is why I am holding off on my season prediction on placings as this season the margin of error is smaller.
