I agree, and unfortunately the saying of, "don't stay down in your own box" looks like it is another part of old school defending that may disappear.

October 20, 20187 yr Started the game with my son moaning about Morata being in the starting line up and me saying, don't forget he scored the only goal in the 1-0 win last season so let's give him a chance. By half-time I was screaming for Sarri to take the useless f**ker off. It was the proverbial playing with 10 men, He gave us absolutely NOTHING today. With even a half decent striker we would have won at a canter today. As Souness rightly pointed out, we are relying too much on Hazard and when he has a quiet(er) game, we are always going to struggle unless others step up and that's where you have to have a striker you can count upon. Really don't want to see Morata play again for us - I have given up all hope. Great to get the late goal today though - made it feel like a win!!
October 20, 20187 yr Remember when he used to mock Wenger for living on past glories? An embarrassment of a man. He can quite easily give it out, whether it's pocking someone in the eye, shushing opposition fans, or telling a rival manager to calm his celebrations... but he certainly cannot take it. Absolutely sick of the joker, and all his drama. Thank God we don't have to put up with it every week.

October 20, 20187 yr Really, what an end to the match. All the drama of this highly anticipated fixture. My analysis is this: we sucked most of the match, but particularly the second half where we fell asleep for the most part until the 95th minute. Did we have any shots on target the whole match, other than the goals? I really think Alonso's antics cost us the points we should have brought home. Our passing first half was first rate, but the second, we kept completely off the pace and allowed Manure to take control. It's almost as if a pact is formed between Mou and the team: you play my style first half and if it doesn't work, you guys do as you wish. This strategy worked sterlingly well during the second. Our equaliser was a gift and we were lucky. We really deserved to lose this one. Just mind boggling our play for the most part. A most appalling result in a game we should have won quite comfortably. October 20, 20187 yr If we achieve top 4 with this team, it would be great. We hsve no pace in our game and we lack a top striker. Very difficult to stay in top 4 in my opinion. Spurs just won at West Ham and they are level points with us ( the same West Ham that we struggled against and that beat United ). If Arsenal also wins they will be also on 21 points. We dropped points and the others are catching up.

October 20, 20187 yr Im fuming as all f**k......they were their for a smash and we said no thanks. Sarri usually acts fast, but royally f**ked up today. What more can Morata do in order for our Club to shift some f**king focus on a decent strike force? You take Eden out and we are pathetic up front compared to all other top Clubs out there. How we didnt sell Willy is crazy, too inconsistent and almost 30, Pedro is good but Again getting a bit old.....quality though, Giroud can do a job now and then but again should just be a super sub. We got Jack sh*t......you want top4? Better front players needed.......nevermind fighting for the title. So we said we dont need Fekir ( confirmed by his agent and Lyon ), could sell willy for a good amount and said no, every man and his dog could see Morata sucks big time and we thought nahh he will do nicely, Look at this sh*tty utd team, and still their strike force blows ours away. This result was awesome for utd......exremely crappy for us.
October 20, 20187 yr I agree largely with Sarri's assessment of the game. I did feel throughout that there was a lack of intensity in our play. We were too slow and measured and whilst our possession and passing stats may have been comparable to other games i still felt that the ball wasn't passed quickly enough and too often we had a lack of pace and energy in our running off the ball. Morata Not as long as he has got a hole in his..... One thing i did take from today. I would gladly take Mata back. He'd replace Willian with him. In this Sarri team Willian doesn't track back liek he used to anyway so Mata lack of defensive work would make little difference. With Mata's craft coming in from the right on his left foot, with Hazard doing the same from the left, we'd just need a proper premier league centre forward.
October 20, 20187 yr I couldn't watch the game but going by the comments it was a bit like this: We should have won the game in the first half but lacked the end product and lost our way in the second half. This has been a problem since last season, we need to stop being a one half team. It comes down to not having a striker that can score goals. Get a striker that can score goals and we turn a 1-0 into 2-0 which will deflate the opposition. Every top team needs a striker that can score goals, even more so when you don't have goal scoring midfielders and two right wingers who are very up and down with their form. Because we don't have goalscorers in the team, I think we must start Barkley ahead of Kovacic. I like Kovacic, but he isn't a goalscorer, when you have Jorginho and Kante, you need to fill the other spot with somebody that can get the goals. Kovacic may well be better on the ball than Barkley, but it's not really going to mean much if we can't get the goals. If we had a consistent right winger and a striker, it would be a different story. I also worry about us defensively. We concede a lot of soft chances, even when we dominate games. Every team we have come up against so far has had great chances to score against us, we just got lucky that they fluffed their chances. I read that Lukaku missed another today. I'm not sure if I can view it as 1 point gained instead of 2 points lost. I was hoping for a home win against a team that will be looking to compete with us for a top 4 finish. Top 4 is still looking like it's going to be very tough to achieve this season, I think we can make it, but we need these home wins against our rivals really. 3 draws from 5 means our form has dipped below the other 4 teams who are going to be chasing a top 4 finish.

These other points being made on here about the likes of Pedro/ Wilian Morata /Giroud Luiz/Christensen. We can mix and match any you like but its swapping one player who isn't good enough for another. They are all nothing better than fringe squad players. None of them would get on Citys bench. Defo not good enough if we want to challenge for titles! Also, far too many are letting our midfield get away with it. Its not s strong, defensive midfield and its not an attacking, creative goal scoring one either and its not even a mix of the two. Its weak and plays pretty tippy tappy stuff with almost no end product. Sarri could get away with it in the now very ordinary Series A, but it won't work over here. Sarri needs to swollow his pride and see that the player he brought in to build his team around is a major problem for us in this league, a league where you need pace, power, creativity and goal power, not endless tippy tappy give yard passes and bugger all else.

October 20, 20187 yr Typical early kick off after an international break. There was very little intensity in the first half, we took advantage of pogba's error and got the goal. After that we played well until half time, pressed the life out of them, and they couldn't get the ball off us. Second half we gave them encouragement by not pressing, and trying to force the play, instead of just killing the game by keeping the ball. The equaliser had an element of luck to it with the double deflection, however what is alonso doing feigning injury in our 6 yard box, instead of getting up and clearing the danger. He didn't even need treatment. Christiensen did something similar at old Trafford last season and was rightly critised for it. Second goal was a mistake from Luiz, he judged it wrong and we got punished, maybe Azpiliucueta could've done better since it was obvious martial would go with his right, but it was a great finish. We showed good character to keep plugging away, and a pint that late on almost feels like win. Hazard wasn't great today, looked a little leggy, and that exposed the lack of quality we have in that front 3. So nothing new learned, Luiz has an error in him, we need a better striker and right winger, and early kick offs aren't great for big games.
October 20, 20187 yr Think alonso staying down is key to Uniteds first. He is taking up the spot Luiz would be in and have a half chance to block martial or get the ball first.

If we had a real striker we'd probably be top of the league with this midfield. It IS working already so don't get this comment at all.
October 20, 20187 yr Not the best performance, some poor individual performances today cost us. Alonso should have been on his feet for the first goal, unless he was in real pain, which I doubt, Luiz messed up for the second goal. In attack Morata was hapless again, constantly falling over, his link up play was poor, he has no presence, I don’t know why Giroud didn’t start. Willian was poor, when Hazard doesn’t make the difference, you need someone else to step up to the plate, for me Pedro should be starting every game when fit, as he’s more dangerous. Mourinho got what he deserved when we equalised so late on, he was playing games and time wasting, which might be way our coach overreacted at the end, not condoning it though.
