We only seem to be linked with higuian and Wilson. I get that January is a difficult month to sign top players, but what strikers are going to be available in the summer that aren't now, other than maybe icardi?

Really suprised we have seen more links with maxi Gomez, who has a buy out clause, or werner, who has 18 months left on his contract. They would seem like easier deals to do, compared to how complicated this higuian loan seems, and also how short term it would be aswell.

I can't believe that we haven't gone in for Werner - i think he'd be perfect for us. 22 years old, lots of talent, and only 18 months left on his contract.

I don't like and first i don't think is useful for Chelsea. He is good in the spaces and Chelsea plays , 9 matches on 10, with the bus of the opponents in the their box.

Higuain’s statistics

Real Madrid - 107 goals in 190 games

Napoli -71 goals in 104 games

Juventus - 40 goals in 71 games

Milan - 6 goals in 15 games

I’m excited. Clearly a proven goal scorer.

Got 36 goals under Sarri. Even if he gets half that with us it would be amazing. Half a season left and having to settle in though, so doubt it.

Anything is better than Morata I suppose.

Lol... You seen Higuaín goal stats just above you? Let’s compare it to Morata now.

Madrid - 25 goals in 63 games

Juventus - 15 goals in 63 games

Chelsea - 16 goals in 47 games.

Shocking to think we paid 70m for him with these stats.

The games are misleading, Morata came on as a sub and at Juve he came on as a last minute sub many times in his younger career, his goal to minutes ratio at Madrid and Juventus are actually quite good.

I always laugh when people count sub appearances. Torres 13 game no scoring streak becomes 14 games after a 5 minute sub cameo.

Goals per minute is the superior stat.

I don't know why people still do the games to goals ratio tbh... Demba Ba had a really good goal to minutes stat here, but his goals to games is not that good because Mourinho used to sub him on in the last minute all of the time.

That's the main reason he got his price tag so high, he was a super sub and used most of his time coming of the bench very well for Real Madrid.
The whole point was that he looked to be good enough to lead the attack and not to be the super sub anymore...

I definitely wanted him over Lukaku when they were the two main choices two years ago, I always thought Morata had very good potential. How wrong I was... I still think he was good when we first signed him, I was impressed but once his form dipped he never recovered, he had a full summer and fresh new start to the season to prove the doubters wrong and he couldn't do it.

There might be a player in there but with a mentality that he has he won't ever be good enough for a top club, he goes straight into depression mode when things aren't going his way.

That's the thing with Morata, he has talent for sure, but he's mentally weak which isn't good enough for top striker, or any footballer really. The greats recover when they go on run of poor form, this is something Morata hasn't done. He's mostly sulked.

I’m excited. Clearly a proven goal scorer.

One goal in last 8 league games.

I'm underwhelmed. Clearly the beginning of the end.

Let's hope your'e right anyway.

Shouldn't read too much into his form over the last little while at Milan imo, could credibly be read as a player in a bit of a mental flux (hello, Alvaro) upset about Milan cooling on him and being distracted by the potential reunification with Sarri.

Or I'm just being overly optimistic. Which is the only way to be, really, given that he's the striker we're getting so it's time to park doubts aside and give the bloke a chance.

But we paid for potential. Same as we did with Pulisic...

On Higuain he has a left foot which makes him an immediate improvement over Morata, also has a nice penchant for scoring from long range.

But he is still capable of the big miss and seems to miss in the big moments. World Cup final comes to mind as the most obvious example.

I'm on the fence but hope he does well.

I hope the fans get behind him when he starts for us to at least give him the feel good factor.

We can always criticise him later if it doesn't work out, I'm optimistic he will make us stronger.
