They are not allowed to block the Saudis because they are Saudis though. They need to have a valid reason to block the bid.

Indeed not. I think they will let Raine know how long the "fit and proper owner" assessment would take and that would have raine be the one to put another bid forward.

They don't have to say no to them, they just have to delay it so we would be in serious trouble if we waited.

Candy saying he wants to keep Marina and Buck, and wants the transfer strategy to be the same where we spend to win. Hes saying all the right things, but hard to tell whether its politician speak.

Is it really a good thing to keep Marina? I don't know about Buck but our transfer business has been abysmal in my eyes. We have wasted too much money on duds  and I hope the new owners adopt the Liverpool transfer model to cut down on the waste. We certainly can't afford to keep our current transfer model if we want to be competitive and profitable (as the new owners would most likely want us to be).

Marina won the "Best Club Director in European football" award last year. So she must be doing something right.

But I agree with the duds such as Alonso, Bakayoko, Werner, Drinkwater & Rahman (both leaving this summer thank GOD) and Lukaku...while I understood Werner and Alonso at the time of their signings, who authorised the rest??

Meh

Most of these football awards are stupid and don't necessarily reflect reality. Maybe she won because of all the money she gave to  other clubs for their duds 🙂

This is public theft.

For a war that's temporary and has little to do with Roman, they have seized his club like some repossessed mortgaged house and are selling it by force, probably under it's actual value, without any compensation to Roman - who is a already owed £1.5bn and has contributed a lot to the UK economy in the last 20 years. If they want him out fine, but at least let me sell the club himself and get his due.

Meanwhile Boris Is in Saudi trying to negotiate oil so that UK stops using Russian oil. The same Saudis currently bombing Yemen and got accused of killing that journalist in Turkish embassy just a few years ago. So it's cool to go in bed with the lesser evil until they decide when it's no longer cool. Like how half the world's leaders stood side by side and shook Gaddafi's hand for decades until they decided it's not cool anymore and supported his killing

Hate politics man....

I think all things said and done at 30 mil Alonso hasn’t been a flop for sure ..

Boughton and Coe’s bid sounds interesting. My choice would between them and Bohley.

Are Saudis cash rich? I’ve read different things

Read that if Roman wipes his 1.5b off it will someone give us FFP trouble. Anyone heard more about this? Seems like other clubs think we’re going to be in an advantageous position somehow. Hilarious.

These twats in the media and football don’t want us to have our old owner or have a new owner it seems. Seem desperate for the club to burn and our future success be completely destroyed.

Marina isn't responsible for scouting, just getting a good price. She gets a good price.

Just because a player becomes a dud after the event, doesn't mean the price paid was wrong.

This how thing baffles me... seems like daylight robbery. I don't understand how a government can just seize billions of his assets and sell them, and then do as they wish with the money. What do they have on him to justify this? What crimes has Roman committed in the UK to allow our government to just take his money? If he was involved do we not think he would have seen this as a possibility and sold up before it all eventuated. I guess we only hear one side of the story, and even then it seems very speculative... I can't believe the fact he owns shares in a company that "may" have sold steel to the Russian military be enough evidence to justify all of this.

I can understand that they are looking to cripple the Russian economy, but could they not just do this by blocking his international dealings, meaning that the money he has in the UK stays in the UK.

If anyone has any further info on this that will shed some more light please go ahead.

The Saudi's will never happen it's politically to sensitive at the moment when Eddie Howe is getting asked about state murder it's almost surreal. Yes whoever's bid is successful there will be clubs who will we say we have an unfair advantage and have not been punished at all and could end up even richer than before. I think Coe's bid will win friends in high places and all that but whoever's bid does win don't expect it to go through without objections from everyone and their mother.

Kind of separate topic to my above post.

I have just been reading an article in that rag the mirror on Nick Candy. I like the sound of his consortium. First of all he is a Chelsea fan, and I love how he consistently says "we" when referring to Chelsea throughout the article. I like how he refers to how the club has been run in a positive light and that he wants to keep things the same moving forward, even keeping Marina on board. I like how he refers to each member of his consortium as representing Chelsea as a global brand in their each respective part of the world. I guess if this bid was to be successful only time will tell as to whether they stay good to their word.

They won't take the money, well not yet anyway.

Eventually Roman will have the chance to appeal and if he wins he'll get the money in full.

And with Boris trying to woo the Saudis for more Oil, politics will override the PL, also our Saudi bid is a separate entity to the NUFC owners, so I think if they have the funds🤔

I read they have like $1.3 trillions behind them in different kind of assets 🤑

Thinking that the only job of the Chelsea FC director (or the main job) is to negotiate transfers is incredibly naive.

At this point in time and seeing that whatever we do we are criticised (we invaded Ukraine, we are going to walk out debt free, we are incompatible with integrity, and all that sh*t that’s been thrown at us by pundits, politicians and other football clubs), I’d go with the bid that pissed everyone off most. f**k ‘em all!

That is a given, certain media outlets will already have volumes of put downs, questionable dealings and employed ghost busters to go through their closets.

That didn’t stop Boris securing a deal with them did they?

FFS stop saying it will never happen! You are basically putting Saudi Media out of the running because of what’s happening to Chelsea at the moment. Getting punished for something you didn’t do.

Saudi Media didn’t commit the executions, nor linked with the government who executed the 81 people.

The USA executed 70 people within the last few years and nobody talks about it - that’s what annoys me here.

Lukaku?

Our club made the decision to sign lukaku, that was the price. He wasn't going to be cheaper. Marina didn't watch serie a games and think he's the man for us.

Blame the people who decided we should buy him, not the person who executed the sale. That person is more likely Roman than Marina.

He didn't secure one he came back empty handed. It's called guilty by association there will journos all over Saudi Media muck raking if it goes through any link with the Saudi government and there's bound to be some no matter what they say. You seem to be firmly in the camp of I don't care who takes over just the ones with the deepest pockets.  And why are you getting so worked up about my opinion I'm just a bloke on the internet if it happens it happens my opinion is it won't.

What the States do or does is frankly irrelevant when it comes to the political climate and Chelsea at the moment. We invaded Iraq in 2003 an illegal war where we banned from Euro 2004 no we were not.

No one is going to tell me we got Kepa, Drinkwater, Zappacosta, Morata, Pulisic, Lukaku to name a few for good prices.

And we have also completely messed up our wage structure in the process which will bite us in the arse now.

I think Marina will be replaced by the new owners and I don't think it's a bad idea to do so either.

Wage structure is what it is, no owner doing that different

Pulisic was value for money

Lukaku, morata were the wrong player but the right price for both

Drinkwater was the English tax, and a poor scouting decision. Zappacosta was the last minute tax and a poor scouting decision.

Kepa was the biggest black mark, but I also put that down to the scouting
