I know it's horrible, I'm just surprised why so many people are surprised, the writing was on the wall. I take no joy in it, but I agree with the clubs decision. No matter what, he still did a very good job in his first season, so credit to Frank.

I had this wild, romantic notion that for once the club would trust a manager enough to give him time. During the revolving door years we won silverware, but was that because of managers going in and out, or despite that? Anyway, I had hoped that patience would be the flavour of choice.

No, I'm not usually this naive 🙄 Probably the last time too...

Long time lurker and sorry for jumping on when a manager has just been sacked.

There's a lot of bad comparisons and assumptions being made that I just have to give my thoughts.

We shouldn't want a long term manager just for the sake of having one. It should be the right person who has proven himself. Lampard has no past experience to back him up and his football was unremarkable even when we went through winning spells playing against teams that should be a division below us.

Conte f**ked up for various reasons, Sarri wanted to leave. Now whether you want to take the risk and see if Lampard can get out of this mess is up to you. I would have liked to see him finish the season but it could also mean missing out on top 4. I don't blame the board for sacking him but for hiring him if they had doubts since the beginning.

Comparing him to Ole and Klopp is ridiculous when they have past experience to back them up. Lampard probably wouldn't have got the job if it wasnt for the transfer ban so it may have been a short term investment since the beginning in the board's eyes.

There is no right or wrong in this situation.

Excellent post, my sentiments exactly, hope you stick around.

I think so yes, do you think they're going to win the league? I don't.

If Frank had been given time and gone on a run like OGS after his rocky patch, would you still be calling for his head?

They are doing a bloody good impression of champions.

Well if they've already won the league now and it's January, that must mean Frank has finished midtable and it's set in stone, in which case, I'm happy with the decision...

I am gutted. We had been on a poor run but still shocked about this. The fact the board acted now makes me thing they are prioritizing top 4 for this season or they would have let Frank see this out. I am not confident a change of manager will deliver the results they are expecting. Assuming it is Tuchel I am pretty sure he will be back full circle in another 18 months to 2 years. He is not going to last any longer than he did at PSG, especially with his reputation for being difficult.

OGS and his team were pathetic till the COVID break and then they bought the VAR and Penaldo 2.. some people are born with luck "OGS".. the way the play they should be mid-table and probably would be come the end of the season...

If OGS can do what United have done so far this season, you don't think Frank can do similar or even better if given time? He's had to integrate a lot of academy players into the team last year and achieved 4th, same points as United. This season, he's had to integrate 6 signings into the team which is blighted by covid and injuries, plus the big signings being a let down.

I wonder how Frank would have done with a settled team? Like what OGS have now?

Trust me, if you go back to my earlier posts when we were 3 months into the first season with Frank I was absolutely loving football. Even this season, becuase what more can you ask for? A club legend managing the club and we're playing great, but reality decided to kick in and it looked more and more that he was out of his depth.

It's very rarely nice sacking managers, and I've hated most of our sackings, this one I do actually agree with though. I was always skeptical of Frank due to his lack of experience and CV, this 2nd season feels like Di Matteo all over again.

OGS still hasn't won anything yet. In 2 months time United could be 6th place and knocked out of the F.A. Cup and Europa League with it. You bringing up a lot of excuses for why this team is not performing well, surely you must realise that Frank has to take a lot of responsibility regardless?

Frank got outcoached too many times this season, players seems lost of the field most of the time.

The Academy is still there, still one of the best in the world, Tuchel wasnt shy to use youngster at Dortmund and PSG, so i dont think its the end of the Academy movement.

Frank will probably be back in about 8 years i'd say, but the expectation this season was too much for him to handle.

Even during our 14 games unbeaten run we didnt really look that great and i'd say we looked poor with no cohesion in most of the games.

Right now we are behind WEST HAM, ASTON VILLA, EVERTON and SOUTHAMPTON. with all due respect to our good friend SaintQuin, with the talent we have on this team no way we should be behing them at midway point of the season if our goal is to challenge for the title or be in the top 4.

I know the feeling.

I stop being emotionally invested in a long-term manager once we sacked Mourinho for a second time in 2015. I knew then, the board/owner wouldn't change their old habits so I've come to accept that this is the way we operate.

Any of you lot that have been crying for Frank to be sacked on social media and are gonna celebrate this sacking aren't proper Chels and never will be.

Don't know what it means to be a Chelsea fan.

100% Mate. The club has become a f**king joke, full of glory supporters, if this is how you treat a Chelsea Legend then good luck to them.

I hope he goes on to be a roaring success where ever he goes, Chelsea dont deserve him.

Di Matteo is a great example of where the board behaved terribly, so I think it is a fair comparison with the way Lampard has been treated. We had just come off a season winning the Champions League and FA Cup. We started the next season in top form and I think we had only had a run of games where we lost 2 or 3 in the league, one of those being a disgracefully reffed game against United where we were robbed. He paid the penalty of a marginal failure to qualify in the Champions League group on goal difference. We had 10 points which wasn't awful either. Should never have been sacked in my opinion.

I'll admit I was gutted when Robbie got the sack, but afterwards it looked like a good decision, what has Di Matteo done since? I think he had a great honeymoon period here and did a fantastic job, but after that, there were clear limitations and he wasn't the man to build a team that can win titles.

I'm not a Tuchel advocate by any means but it's weird why so many people who cling onto Frank go about criticising managers who have actually won silverware and accomplished things.

Its worse than that so many posts already want the new manager  to fail. Support Chelsea, no reason you cannot support Frank in any future endeavours, but Frank is not Chelsea, and recent performances have been embarrassing. I think the club have it right again, the only time I think they got it wrong was Jose the first time.

Gary Neville absolutely nailing it.

People really need to differentiate Lampard as a player who is a legend of our club, and then Lampard as a manager who has done nothing anywhere near what he did as a player.

Truth is, this job was too soon and too big for him at this time

For what it is worth I have just written to them. I appreciated the link because at the very lease it felt therapeutic. We all love our club but sometimes , just sometimes they can really wind you up. At the end of the day CFC will live on far longer than this current board.

I remember being particularity pi$$ed off with the club over the Eddie McCreadie sacking just at a time we were developing a team of bright young talent that had the potential to make us a driving force. Sounds familiar eh?! Over a bleeding company car. I thought that, the east stand development and relegation and the battle throughout the Ken Bates years would ultimately end in our demise. Whether it is on or off the pitch, we're still just spectators. Nobody really knows what is happening inside the business except those inside the business.

I am confident that Robbie would have done at least as well as Benitez did the rest of that season. Managers don't get the chance to show they can overcome adversity at Chelsea and that is part of the problem. Yes we might bounce back in the short term but I no longer know what the long term strategy is. A new manager will reshape the team and basically start again taking us in a whole new direction. That is fine but when you repeat every 2 years you eventually get to where we are now. A squad that is bloated with failed signings bought for previous managers, and blocking the way for talented youth players.

One more thing, I really dont understand the people who are hating on Roman?

He is literally the reason we are the club we are today, and has done FAR more for this club than any other manager or player ever has. He deserves respect.
